As an 80s kid, I gotta say my mind is kinds blown. To see the 80s icons of Different strokes, Facts of Life, and Molly Ringwald all in the same scene is wild . I never even knew this existed.

Facts of Life was a spin-off and there were a few crossovers between the shows....Molly Ringwald was part of the cast through the first season.

It all started with All in the Family which spun off into The Jeffersons on which Mr Drummond was a character that spun off into Different Strokes which spun off into Facts of Life. Maude also spun off AITF. All produced by Norman Lear who just turned 100. That's why you are seeing all his shows lately.

I was about 10-11 years old when this episode premiered on a Saturday night on NBC. And I remember thinking, why the hell don’t Willis want these woman to spend night. All the games we could play. Ghost stories, running the halls of the building knocking on doors. I’m almost sure they had a VCR. I was like Willis is totally a dweeb and a jive turkey 😂

Just think that 3 years later, Molly Ringwald would become director John Hughes muse, and the “teen queen”’of the 1980’s “Pretty in Pink” “Sixteen Candles”, the “Breakfast Club”, “For Keeps”, “Fresh Horses”, and “Besty’s Wedding”. Dana Plato should’ve made guest appearances on the “Facts of Life”!in Seasons 1-3

There was absolutely no FOL crossovers on DS when it’s second season began, except Tootie. And Kimberly was never ever seen on FOL after it’s first episode even though she went to Eastland.

Hello Larry 1979 - two attempts to keep the show on the air by merging with Diff'rent Strokes. It had Kim Richards and Joanna Gleason in the supporting cast, but McLean Stevenson was a mess.

I believe there was another spinoff involving Mrs Garrett, their first housekeeper, running a school - the pilot episode was actually a Diff’rent Strokes episode! The problem with spinoffs and crossover episodes is that the programmes in question need to air on the same channel, even if shown internationally - viewers watching the spinoff, yet the parent programme is not shown on any channel, would be confused - especially if they see clips from the parent programme - and, in some cases, the stories run alongside each other - think Dysentery and The Colbys - characters often crossed over between the two programmes - which would mean (as it did when they were first on) both programmes had to run alongside each other - preferably on one channel and networked!

That's a pretty hilarious autocorrect, I doubt quite as many people would've been excited week after week to watch Joan Collins and John Forsythe on Dysentery instead of Dynasty! Yes, usually spinoffs would come from the same networks, either to turn existing properties from shows into new ones, or use the popularity of a show to launch unrelated ones as backdoor pilots. They'd also have crossovers to drum up interest and to give sagging shows a boost....This scene's characters are from the spinoff you described, The Facts Of Life.
