Difference between a Bear Cruzer G2 and a $1000 bow. In this video, I explain some of the key differences between a Bear Cruzer G2 and a flagship bow that generally will cost around $1,000 for just the bow, not including accessories. Once you add on the accessories to the flagship bow, the cost could be anywhere from 1,500 to 1,800 in many instances.

I bought my first bow 3 months ago. I am 16 and I paid it in full working and saving for a while. I got a Bear Cruzer G2. I've been practicing a lot, nearly every day, and I am confident I can take it out this season. Even though I only shoot 45# (I am skinny), I am confident on my shot placement and testing arrows for momentum. You're a great inspiration and thanks to you I am learning everything I need (youtube is basically my teacher). I am from Mexico so hunting here is different, but I have my piggy bank which I fill with all my 10$ coins to buy my Hoyt. Thank you for everything.

GreenEYESfromOHIO I went recurve first(Bear grizzly) to really learn how to put arrows where I wanted them. Just like ppl did long before we were ever thought of. That bow has come with me on a lot of trips and has put a lot of meat in my freezer. That was about 8 years ago. I recently made the jump to a pse brute. And I’m personally glad I learn the game with a recurve first. But it’s really a different experience in my book. No matter which road you travel practice practice practice is key. And stretch and warm up. that 15 minutes you take to get the blood pumping makes a world of difference

Great to see another good video Sean! Thank you! I have a G2 and being my first bow I have no comparison to anything else. So its better that I probably dont shoot my friends expensive bow until I feel I need to get a better bow.. of course if I find archery is not for me I also have not spent too much on it.. I wonder in the hands of an expert archer - would both bows give the same and consistent results? take care, John

My first bow I bought off a friend of my cousin. I paid $170. Never hunting with bow before I spend countless hours studying the set-up and added a few accessories that fit me better. I trained day after day, honing my shots until I could draw at any given yardage and put and arrow into the bullseye. My very first hunt with it a buck came into my shooting range. He was walking at a good pace about 30 yards from my stand and I put the arrow right through his heart. I recently bought the Bear Cruzer G2. At the store, I landed 6 arrows within a quarter inch of each other, some of them were even touching. Mind you, the arrows that I use were beat up and not the right length for my draw. I have been fine tuning it over the past year. Added a different peep, stabilizer, and getting the adjustments to where I prefer them. I would never buy a $1,800 bow when I can put the effort and practice into a $170 and $300 bow and get perfect results. The brand name and the price tag don't make the bow what it is, you do. Your hard work and making the bow what it is are the things you will look back on after you bag that buck, not the price tag. I don't know very many people that use those expensive bows and the ones that do have the same issues they do with the less expensive bows. It's them. They think the price tag or brand will make them a better hunter but it doesn't. They could miss a buck with a heat seeking missile. I'll spend those extra hundred on another freezer from all the deer I tag while they cry that their $1,800 bow isn't making them anymore accurate. An saying from an old man I knew was "A bent arrow can still be accurate if you practice with it and learn to compensate, but a man who doesn't work on himself never will be".

Thanks for watching. Congrats on your success. A walking shot at 30 yards though is not very ethical. Try grunt stopping him next time and shoot for the squat. God bless
@ullrshunter9659
@ullrshunter9659 3 жыл бұрын
Sean. Sometimes whistling and making noise doesn't stop them. Yes, we did try. Don't know how it's 'not very ethical' to shoot a deer while it's walking. We practice moving shots. There are plenty of pros that do it as well. Watch the outdoor channel and you will see plenty of them. If you practice and train, then whether they are standing still or moving how is that less ethical. We don't get the ducks and geese to stop flying mid-flight. Is waterfowl hunting less ethical? I've seen guys lose deer that were standing still.

@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 3 жыл бұрын
I've taken some moving shots when the deer are 10 or 20 yards but 30 is pushing it. A lot can happen. You said the deer was moving at a good clip at 30 yards. I personally wouldn't take a 30 yard shot at a moving fast deer even if I trained for it because I've been hunting a long time and a lot can go wrong by the time the arrow gets there when it's traveling 30 yards through the air. That's just my opinion. I'd say the more you try that shot the more you'll experience situations that may not work out in your favor. To each his own I guess. God bless.
@seansoutdoors

That was a five yard shot at a slow moving deer, not a 30 yard shot at a fast moving deer. That's the difference.

I'm looking to expand from firearms to archery and there's a deal on Woot for the Cruzer G2 RTH for $254. Is this a good option at this price point? Would you recommend anything else for someone just getting into the sport? Eventually I'd like to go hunting, but for now I'll be at the range or in my backyard honing the craft. What would be your recommendation? Or shall I spend more right off the bat for no regrets? Thanks in advance Sean! God bless. 🙏

For me, the absolute difference boils down to a high quality bow holding it's tune much longer, being able to put up with more abuse & neglect in the field and being able to be counted on to remain reliable for nice clean ethical shots. Having used both an entry level bow and a flagship, yes...some thousand dollar bows $600 better than $400 bows. They just are. Not saying it can't be done with an entry level bow, I'm just saying that they require far more attention, maintenance and constant tuning and gosh forbid that you bump into a tree while on your way into the field and lose your sight being as dialed in as when you got out of your truck.

Hey Sean, it’s legal to bait where I hunt, and I was thinking about putting a automated corn feeder in my 1/8 acre kill plot..any thoughts on why this would be good/bad? Thanks!
@seansoutdoors
@seansoutdoors 5 жыл бұрын
It all depends on the deer. Some deer get accustomed to it. Some get spooked and only come in during the night. Once you start shouting deer at that location they might catch on and avoid it during daylight. But the same could happen with just a food plot if you are bumping deer on the way in and the way out. If you can, refill the feeder at a set time every time you do, and do it at a time you’d be going in for an afternoon hunt so the deer get used to that pattern and don’t associate danger with the movement. It’s also probably best to only hunt it in the evening as you’ll push deer out trying to get in before daylight and that will mess things up even for evening movement

I go out and throw corn across the street from my house. Its an open field between my house and the lake 140yds away. Anyway, I started feeding them about 5:30pm and again at 8a.m. after a week of doing this they are waiting on me when I get there. It doesn't take long to get them used to being fed by hand or by feeder.

Another great video, Sean. I'm not likely to ever get to a $2k bow, but it is nice to know about them. Again, I'm a novice (but and engineer), wouldn't the expensive bows have the same degradation at the extremes draw and weight? Or do expensive bow just "not go there" as far as versatility? Please don't make another expensive flagship comparison, I can't afforded it. lol. Your sight upgrade is noted though.

Nick since you're a teenager I would go for one of the adjustable bows like the sb1, as Sean said. The reason for this is you are still growing, and you don't know where your draw length and weight will settle out. The sb1 will carry you through into your 20's,at which point you'll have a good idea of what your weight range will be and your draw length will be stable. Then you can go in for a higher quality, more expensive, but less adjustable bow. Or you can just stick with the cheaper sb1 if it's meeting your needs

I watched this because your reviews are usually very informative I just wished you spent a little more time on the bow and maybe shown how they shot. and talk more of the good and the bad not just how much better one was than the other.
