The hijab is one often the most prevalent distinguishing feature of Muslim-American women. The hijab is a traditional, once mandatory garment that modern-day Muslim women decide whether or not to wear.
Nawal, a guest on Thursday's "Anderson" and one of the cast members of TLC's "All-American Muslim," showed Anderson and viewers the three different types of hijabs; the manzila is currently the most fashionable hijab, which is worn in a similar manner as a pashmina wrap; the burqa, which covers the entirety of the wearer's face; and the niqab, which covers the wearer's face from nose to chin.
Anderson questioned Nawal about why certain Muslim women wear a hijab and others do not.
"It's a choice to wear it," Nawal says. "How can it be oppressing if a woman's made the choice to wear it, essentially?"
Nawal talks more about the different types of hijabs in the video above...

The reason behind wearing Hijab is to make yourself look unattractive to everyone else other than your husband and family members. Hijab is no way part of fashion.But right now most of the jobs don't allow us wearing full coverings. So we wear normal hijab and just cover our hair and body.

We have to be careful what we see and feel as a choice and what the religion asks from us. Allah tells the Muslim woman to cover her whole body so that her shape ( chest etc) isnt show by shape or to wear anything transparent. Whoever leaves the covering due to their choice that's up to them but as muslims there are commands to follow. Nowadays many muslim women have been drawn into the western type of fashion so wearing the full covering comes secondary and less important but then they give the wrong interpretation when asked about the head covering using due to their weakness and lack of true understanding

Firstly, I think hijabs are so pretty, but I think it’s a contradiction that many Muslim women wear makeup. Makeup is meant to beautify women and make more sexy. Also I don’t think it’s fair that Muslim men don’t cover- arab men are some of the most good looking men I’ve seen. Lastly, it’s men that should be taught not to stare, lust etc. not place every dang responsibility on women.
@ReformedEducation
@ReformedEducation 2 жыл бұрын
Okay… I’m not a Muslim, but I know that in the Qur’an it talks about how even if a man stares at a woman he must lower his gaze or else he is committing a sin. Also Many Muslim men wear a type of head covering, as well as long sleeve, and long legged clothing to display modesty themselves (at least whilst they pray in the Mosque). And a man cannot simply control his lust. Every man has a genetic drive to reproduce, the Hijab, Niquab, Burkah, etc… is simply so that a woman is not looked at in a lustful manner. If she doesn’t want men to stare at her, instead of convincing over 3 billion men that it’s bad to look at her with lust she can simply wear some sort of modest clothing. I’m not saying that it’s okay for men to lust over women, but it takes work from both sides of the isle to get rid of lust.

May God bless you. We believe that God is the all knowing, therefore whatever He commands is good for us. If God’s law does not make men wear the hijab, then that is good for us and the better option. Men actually do have a hijab, but it’s not that they cover their entire body. They are obligated to cover certain parts of their body but I am not so certain what those exactly what those parts are. They are also prohibited from wearing tight clothes. And yes, they commit a sin when they look at women who are not their mahram (women that are strangers to them, not being their sisters, mother, grandmother, wife.)

Dude. Women must cover everything with loosish stuff except for face and hands till wrist and some scholars say its fine to show feet except ankles like when you pray and stuff. Makeup is halaal. But the true hijab also comes from inner modesty and piety. And mens hijab also is loose clothes frkm navel to knee, no immodesty, no gold and no silk. So that excludes swimmming trunks short shorts going shirtles with only pants, gold anything silk anything, tight jeans. Yup. And lower your gaze both men and women

So if you wear burka that's a good thing and never quit wearing it, ever. And tell your husband that have at least one fist or more than one fist beard as well. As it is mandatory for men to have at least one fist beard, the longer is better though.

I'm a Muslim woman and I think saying that the burqa "is a choice" is incredibly naiive. A lot of women in Afghanistan used to wear traditional/cultural clothing before the taliban took over and forced them to wear the burqa. I live in a very Western country and I have aunties who are all forced to wear something similar to the burqa by their husbands. If they had the choice, they would prefer to wear cultural/traditional clothes instead (which is still as modest, mind you). So unless a woman lives in a free country, free from both the restrictions of her own family as well as the government in regards to Islamic clothing, the burqa is rarely ever a "choice".

@@adnilzaff3232For a large portion of Muslim scholars, the face covering is deemed mandatory, which is what this nice lady is lying to the masses about. The reason Afghan women cover their face and aren't allowed to wear any other form of the Hijab is because their scholars believe that just covering the hair is unacceptable. And many other women (like those in Iran), are forced to wear just the head covering, but nonetheless, even if their faces are open it's still a forceful action against them. This woman is blatantly lying and I find that disgusting.

In reality, we Muslim women are commanded to wear head coverings. Whether or not a Muslim woman follows it IS her own choice and opinion. So to keep it simple, in Islam, we are taught to cover up our awrah (both genders respectively), however, there will be people that decide not to wear it, and other people that forces another Muslim woman to wear the hijab (which should not be the way as there is no compulsion in Islam).

Its not about Judgement. Hijab is just a piece of cloth, some muslim women think this piece of cloth is her hayah? and this piece of cloth is just for little girls not grown up women. For grown up women is a sharai pardah and that include a woman should hide herself from head to toe. Allaah says in Qur'an: O Prophet! Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies (i.e. screen themselves completely except the eyes or one eye to see the way). That will be better, that they should be known (as free respectable women) so as not to be annoyed. And Allah is Ever OftForgiving, Most Merciful. (sorah al-ahzaab 33 ayah 59) Explanation of this ayah by the mother of the believers, umm-e-salimah: عَنْ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ، قَالَتْ لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ ‏{‏ يُدْنِينَ عَلَيْهِنَّ مِنْ جَلاَبِيبِهِنَّ ‏}‏ خَرَجَ نِسَاءُ الأَنْصَارِ كَأَنَّ عَلَى رُءُوسِهِنَّ الْغِرْبَانُ مِنَ الأَكْسِيَةِ ‏.‏ Narration narrated by sayyadah Umm Salamah, Ummul Mu'minin radhiAllahu anhaa.. interpretation of the meaning: When the verse "That they should cast their outer garments over their persons" was revealed, THE WOMEN OF ANSAR CAME OUT AS IF THEY HAD CROWS OVER THEIR HEADS BY WEARING OUTER GARMENTS. (Sunan abi dawud, raqam: 4101, this narration has come in abdul razzaq as well in taftheer. And this narration is with good narrators, shaykh albaani rahimahullah graded as authentic as well) So just like we muslim men take the explanation about our deen from prophet muhammad salAllahu alayhe wa sallam and how sahaba raadhiAllahu anhum ajmaen, like wise in matters of women, muslim women should take the opinion of sahabiyat, how they understood. And the women of today should not take THEIR OWN opinion and mind. We can only say that may Allaah guide us all, towrds Qur'an and Sunnah and may Allah open the minds of sisters in their matters as well, ameen.

She is not knowledgeable at all. The all-encompassing head-to-toe covering, the one in middle, is called chaadaree and is worn in Afghanistan. Back in the old days, chaadaree was worn by the Royal females in Afghanistan so as not to be recognised in public when they went out. Overtime, other Afghan women started wearing too. That's culture. The Arabic version of such covering is called boshiya, except the eyes are not covered. Like the one on the left. The one on the right, wearing abaya (long coat down to toes) with head scarf is what's mandatory. It's modest. Covers everything except face, hands and feet. Neither are you knowledgeable at all. You didn't place any references to any of your claims. The chaadar as worn in Afghanistan isn't worn in Afghanistan only, its common all over the region and you will find it in Pakistan and north west India too, in Urdu known as topi wala burka. In Arabic you have something called burqa but it looks different from any of the items shown above. The booshiyah can be found in gulf regions but it has nothing to do with culture. It is actually considerd mandatory in the Hanbali madhab to cover the full body, including the hands, feet and the face is considerd the greatest awrah of the women. Some scholars of the Shafee madhab have also considerd it wajib for the women to cover her face as wel and the other madhahibs will consider it mandatory depending on the situation or location a women may find herself. The one on the right, or wich the women herself is wearing are both incorrect as they do not cover the shoulders or the breast leaving the width of her shoulders exposed and the extent of her breast. If one wears an abaya it should be coverd with a ghimaar on top or jilbaab or abayat alras. So your claim as for what is true hijab is actually what culture has reduced hijab too and it is not from islam at all. If you look at history also you will find the covering of the face widespread. The Ottoman empire as late as under sultan Abdelhamid 2 even passed a law that prohibited women to cover their faces using see through clothing. It was uncommon before the colonial era to see any muslim womens face in the entire islamic world, or men having their beards shaved of for that matter. You might want to check this page on face covering. It's fine if you don't know what hijaab is but don't make a claim based upon what you want hijab to be or how society views it. Our religion is taken from the Qor'aan and the authentic sunnah. islamqa.info/en/answers/11774/ruling-on-covering-the-face-with-detailed-evidence

Did anyone else notice how she was visibly offended when he mentioned the word oppressive? It IS manditory in some Islamic States for a woman to COMPLETELY cover her face, head, and body. Those women do NOT have a choice of how to wear it, so I have no idea what she is actually talking about! She is obviously ignorant of her own Muslim brothers and sisters, and how differenty their cultures are in certain places. Unbelievable.

Actually I lived in some of these countries and no! You clearly don't have credible sources sister , even in a strict Muslim Saudia (and I've lived there for 15 years) it's not compulsory for the woman to cover her head ! Covering the face is a different level ! I've literally had many women who are non Muslim ( my friends and family ) who lived there and they went out and they never covered their head ! And this coming from one of the most strict countries in the world ? And I'm going to be blunt : if it's a country build on religion where religious people inhabited it, you HAVE to respect their values and views. if you don't like their views and find them "oppressive " don't go there and live there. Period. It's that simple. And Muslim countries are not the only countries that function on religious based values. There's India, Pakistan, Bhutan , Japan (granted now Japan has become very flexible) but there are other countries that have a system like this. And I don't get how the west has any say in this frankly , when they are the ones who cause most of the chaos in the middle Eastern regions. And when people actually come from these countries , who are ACTUALLY opressed and refugees, they aren't given any help because they are " terrorists" or "jihadis" or "extremists". The double standard disgusts me. The western people have no right to meddle and ask for freedom and women's right when our religion gave them to us 1400 years before the universal declaration of Human rights. Just because women cover themselves dosent mean they're oppressed. Just because some people have choose to not believe in religion and some have taken religion as a joke dosent mean the entire world has to do the same. The west thinks that whatever values they put out are always right and should be followed by everyone for example : freedom to walk almost naked. Now I'm not saying you can't do that: by all means go ahead. But if nudity is a choice , so is modesty. I agree that some are forced to wear it and I don't support it all. But saying that everyone is like that is a bit of a strech there. You don't have to attack a whole nation because someone is wrong.

Not even in America in some households, at all but some (Muslim households). I think people should start talking about both sides of hijab and the differences of meanings of hijab in other countries. I don't mind if she the woman wants to wear one, however, they must understand the meaning of wearing one and understand that in some countries it's enforced by law (countries that practice a more strict version of Sharia).

@goddamnit7230

They did unfortunately and I lived in a very conservative area where women were looked at like whores and sluts if they choose not too. There was also numerous dramas that showcased women who did not wear it to be evil, delinquents and sinners. So please don't think in such disgusting simplistic terms. You basically are absolutely ignoring the women who are forced and do suffer. I did ask them because one of them is my sister and she did not have a choice. We left because of that and it was Malaysia where it is generally considered more liberal than any other Muslim countries. I also have been to Saudi Arabia and the rules and laws there are even more strict. She was not allowed to be alone in the city I had to be with her. She also had to wear a Niqab. The answer is absolutely yes and if you are blind enough to believe that there aren't people who are pressured or aren't forced than you simply are ignoring the victims. I was Muslim. I did all five prayers every day, I fasted during Ramadan and I went to Masjid on Fridays. I was considered a good Muslim and even now I refuse to drink or smoke but I am against those conservative views because they are sexist and they are not good. Not saying all who follow the Quran are like that. There are obviously good people but there is obviously many bad ones. I left not necessarily because I wanted too but because I felt hounded constantly that I did not have the 'right' views. So I left to live my own path and a better path and even now I still visit Malaysia because of nice friends and family there. So please, enlighten me on your proof the women aren't treated terribly? What about how Female Genital Mutilation is prevalent in Muslim countries? How about the right for women to vote recently in Saudi Arabia? 3:195 SAHIH INTERNATIONAL And their Lord responded to them, "Never will I allow to be lost the work of [any] worker among you, whether male or female; you are of one another. So those who emigrated or were evicted from their homes or were harmed in My cause or fought or were killed - I will surely remove from them their misdeeds, and I will surely admit them to gardens beneath which rivers flow as reward from Allah , and Allah has with Him the best reward." What is sad is the Quran does teach some good things and yet it does the same for bad. 16:58-59 SAHIH INTERNATIONAL And when one of them is informed of [the birth of] a female, his face becomes dark, and he suppresses grief. He hides himself from the people because of the ill of which he has been informed. Should he keep it in humiliation or bury it in the ground? Unquestionably, evil is what they decide. So please enlighten me. I was going to be an Islamic scholar it was what my family wished upon me and it was what was expected of me. I have read the Quran entirely from beginning to end. Numerous times. Have you done it once? Because many believers I have found do not and I ask them and beg them too. Read the scriptures and respond to me what you find. There is good which I absolutely praise and there is bad that I believe we should reject. We must be good people or we are doomed to forever demean and hate one another and that is not a world for our children to live in.

And you proved nothing. It depends but you will ignore women who suffer and that is pretty sad. There are women who don't want to wear a hijab. www.independent.co.uk/news/world/middle-east/saudi-arabia-woman-no-hijab-execution-abaya-muslim-a7450096.html Yep, not wearing an Abaya. Lets kill her. So much choice. Death or threats is so forgiving. I understand some women make a choice but don't pretend all women do. www.pewforum.org/2016/04/05/restrictions-on-womens-religious-attire/ Here are the restrictions if you need be by country and in Saudi Arabia it is well known that there are laws that require women to fully covered. So you can keep ignoring it if you want but the heavy pressures of women even in Malaysia which is more progressive is still there. "You aren't Muslim enough." "You need to be modest." "You are to blame for men's temptations." Those are very real things.

I understand where you're coming from but you have to understand that we can't blame religion for this, the issue regarding oppression is from culture and the WRONG interpretations of Islam which men chose to use as a reason to claim power of women. I'm not denying that what said but it's not the case for most females, for example myself, I have 5 brothers and no sisters, no men or females have ever pressurised me into wearing the hijab, instead I did my own research and I understood the importance of the hijab so I want to start wearing it properly because I made that decision, it is quite an emotional and sensitive journey for me, I told my dad about it and he acc tried to discourage me bc of societal norms, he said that it will be difficult for me to find a job or that I maybe at risk of being harrassed but why should this even be happening in the first place?? This happens due to ignorance

I wish I could do something to help these women who are being oppressed, they need to be able to make their own decisions, but if someone is being forced to wear the hijab then they are going to grow hatred for it, I wish your sister ( and other women who could possibly be going through the same thing) didn't have to go through that bc then she might actually begin to grow love for the hijab the way that I did. I hope everything gets better for families and communities like this because it is actually disgusting and unacceptable, and it's concealing the love that Allah bestows in our hearts for the truth ( where real happiness is found in the worship of Allah and doing everything for his sake) with hatred. So any sister that is wearing niqaab i would say first, ma sha Allaah to her. And then i would tell her to wear jilbaab which is lose fitted and with the burka or niqaab but they must be in a color which is not attracting others eyes. Yes most of the Islamic countries are stone age societies. What you mention is the RECENT claim from SA prince "Women in Saudi Arabia need not wear headcover or the black abaya - the loose-fitting, full-length robes symbolic of Islamic piety - as long as their attire is “decent and respectful”, the kingdom’s reform-minded crown prince said. It remains unclear if these statements signal a change in the enforcement of women’s dress code in the kingdom. Saudi Arabia has no written legal code to go with the texts making up sharia, and police and judiciary have long enforced a strict dress code requiring Saudi women to wear abayas and in many cases to cover their hair and faces. Finally a few people are shaking off those stone age social codes that drag you into centuries of backward mentality.

Stone age indeed Muslims like you despise so much the west and yet all kind of middle east refugees long to come to it cause their countries are backward and dysfunctional. Women - The Real Roots of Sexism in the Middle East www.theatlantic.com/international/archive/2012/04/the-real-roots-of-sexism-in-the-middle-east-its-not-islam-race-or-hate/256362/ - I was forced to wear the veil and I wish no other woman had to suffer it www.telegraph.co.uk/news/religion/10323303/I-was-forced-to-wear-the-veil-and-I-wish-no-other-woman-had-to-suffer-it.html There are thousands of articles and I would say EDUCATE YOURSELF but it to no use: In Islamic practice, gender roles manifest themselves, partially because men and women are allotted different rights and different cultural expectations. Women in many Islamic countries have been restricted to domestic service with little or no access to high education or important positions. In some other Islamic countries women should only work in certain fields-those that are within an Islamic woman's domain-such as female education, nursing and medical care. But even these must obey a strict separation of gender. That leads to WOMEN WITH BODIES but WITHOUT MINDS. However…that’s not enough in an Islamic patriarchal society. Their bodies need to be suppressed as well. But how can that be achieved? Well… Allah gave men superiority and fosters guardianship which requires total obedience from women to men and this is achieved through religious indoctrination (brain washing), strict and well structured social pressure, strict law enforcement (Sharia), corporal and mental punishment, a dressing code (hijab, burqa, chador, boushiya, niqab) that neutralizes women’s sexuality, in some extreme cases arranged marriages, child brides, honor killings, genital mutilation is enforced and considered as a virtue. Even the exercise of religion for women is subclass; Muhammad specifically allowed Muslim women to attend mosques and pray BEHIND MEN practice that is popular in the Muslim world. Middle Eastern women feel guilty cause they have been mentally programmed (brainwashed by repetition since kids and punishment) to obey or pay the consequences. Women’s rights are a problem for many Muslim men, simply because those rights conflict with the interests of male elite. By the way, you say that Saudi Arabia is not the Middle East so don't compare it. You are right; Saudi Arabia is the best compared to most of the crap-holes you have created and yet I wouldn't expose my daughters or any woman I care to go to that anti-women toxic social environment.

This isn't the true original covering that was used at the times of prophet Muhammad pbuh, but these are also very modest and they do the job when used correctly ! This type of hijab is what mostly western Muslim women wear , and some parts of Asia. Including me ! The second and the third one are what is referred to as khimar in arabic or its also known as jilbab - they cover everything from head to toe. Some women choose to show their eyes and some don't. It depends on what the women are comfortable with ! These are what are believed to be authentic coverings for a woman's body - but pre Arabian women didn't cover their face as from what I have heard and read. They would wear the khimar - drape it across thei entire body and chest but their face remained uncovered. This version of khimar is sought to have originated in countries like India, Pakistan and Afghanistan. It's also what's the staple choice in most of the middle Eastern countries although women have become very flexible in choosing what they like ! And if you want to know the purpose / reason for why we are ordered to cover our bodys, God speaks in the Qur'an: _"And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms) and not to reveal their adornment except to their husbands, or their fathers, or their husband’s fathers, or their sons, or their husband’s sons, or their brothers or their brother’s sons, or their sister’s sons, or their (Muslim) women (i.e. their sisters in Islam), or the (female) slaves whom their right hands possess, or old male servants who lack vigour, or small children who have no sense of feminine sex. And let them not stamp their feet so as to reveal what they hide of their adornment. And all of you beg Allaah to forgive you all, O believers, that you may be successful”_ Hope this helped :D [al-Noor 24:31]

for the people who are saying women are forced to wear it , it's obligated for women to wear the hijab and not obligated to wear the niqab or burka .. if women believe in Islam then they will do what it asks from them. .. if you don't believe you should wear the hijab reconsider your hoover of being Muslim. ... I wear a hijab and tbh I find it as a privilege that I as a Muslim proud women get to wear it

The thing that is important is the "Sattar" which is covering of the head (not face) and arms (not hands) and legs (not feet) and the dress should be loose not making ur body parts prominent. If ur dress code obeys it than there shud be no problem. And as for men they should worry about there "sattar" which is from belly button till there knees covering there knees completely Women are made more attractive than men thats why they r asked to cover themselves more Hope this piece of info helps 😊😊

imprezatuner yes but to say every women wearing veil is their own choice is also ridiculous... because some women wearing it because they see advantage by doing it, e.g. marrying rich muslim man, respected status within muslim society, or avoiding being smeared by her local muslim society by NOT wearing those things... I once a muslima and wore hijab, I KNOW the reason many women wear that stuff...

Zulfiqar Ali because those women will suffer from taliban strike if they don't use that.. since taliban ousted, that's the only reason afghan women wear it... because some taliban elements are still very much exist in society... and another reason is to avoid smear from muslim men in her surroundings.. but i very much believe if she not live in afghanistan, she will open the burka... modesty is not the main purpose of burqa wearing.. burqa/niqab/hijab/chador(this type i once wore), IS A SYMBOL OF SUBJUGATION of women by men... in order to satisfy men's lust and lechery which will gone wild and uncontrol for seeing unveiled women, then therefore WOMEN MUST COVER in the name what u so called as 'modesty'.......... BUT here in the west, MEN MUST CONTROL their lust and lechery, so MEN in western world are used to see women in their original form, so they don't get tacky and tawdry seeing even half/almost naked women... MUSLIM men need to control their lust and lechery by practice themselves seeing women in original form WITHOUT having to have overdose of lust and or lechery..

First is hayaa of a woman or a man. Talking about this Allaah is ordering to both men and women about hayaa and which is to keep their eyes and gaze down, first Allaah order it to men to do that and then to women. Tell the believing men to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts, etc.). That is purer for them. Verily, Allah is All-Aware of what they do. 31. “And tell the believing women to lower their gaze (from looking at forbidden things), and protect their private parts (from illegal sexual acts) and not to show off their adornment except only that which is apparent (like both eyes for necessity to see the way, or outer palms of hands or one eye or dress like veil, gloves, headcover, apron), and to draw their veils all over Juyoobihinna (i.e. their bodies, faces, necks and bosoms)…” (Ref: surah al-Noor 24 verse: 30-31) So. When sayyadina Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) was asked about the aayah (interpretation of the meaning): Tell your wives and your daughters and the women of the believers to draw their cloaks (veils) all over their bodies” (Ref: Surah al-Ahzaab 33 verse: 59) The covered his face, leaving only one eye showing. This indicates that what was meant by the aayah was covering the face. This was the interpretation of Ibn ‘Abbaas (may Allaah be pleased with him) of this aayah, as narrated from him by ‘Ubaydah al-Salmaani when he asked him about it, wallahu a'alam. This is what Allaah azza wa jallah ordered women to do that.

It is your choice, however you will have to face consequences for what you choose. No one has the right to force you because at the end of the day you will be the only one to be judge by God, Allah. Although, your family or anybody can advice you and/or try to show you to the right way by three ways using : 1) hand -- do something NON-VIOLENT 2) tongue -- advice them or tell them in a nice way 3) heart -- ask God, Allah to guide their path to goodness REMEMBER , if you do not tell them or try your best to change them to become more knowledgeable of what they have been doing IN A NICE WAY, then you also get a portion of what ever the sin they committed. The reason why is because we all are humans that have mistakes and forget, and we only check out the mistakes and how different others are ........ I guess we are good at that Thank you, and it was my pleasure to be a helpful Muslim for all my brothers and sisters in humanity *************Salam*===islam====> means PEACE 😊

She did a straightforward good job. She used the word attractive. The covering of attractive parts. The same reason western women do not wear one part swimming briefs as men do on beaches in the west. The ultimate logic of these attacks, is that it would be ok to strip women on beaches of their breast covering ! For some of us breasts are about feeding offspring. For others a titillating sexual enticement. I know that in private safe places , such as all women spaces, devout women do not keep the head garments on ! You can meet such women in all women health spas, totally naked ! It is the attention of men that is being avoided, the sexualisation of women in public spaces that is being thwarted. I believe it is THAT which is forcefully objected to by MEN. In other words they like to relate to women as sexual commodities, and get very angry when women refuse to comply !

Oh I'm sorry you were confused ! Yes a certain level of modesty is compulsory but I don't think the sister in the video got it right , so I'll let you know : the women AND men BOTH need to dress modestly. And both need to cover their private parts and both need to lower their gazes when they come across beautiful men/women who don't belong to them ie: aren't their wife/husband. The mandatory level of modesty for a woman is that her clothes shouldn't reveal the shape of her body and that she must cover her head and hair. For a man is that he must cover everything from his navke to his knees. Hope this helped ! :D

Allah says in the Quran "let a nation from among you arise enjoining in good and forbidding evil". Even Umar (radiallahu anhu) mentioned that as Muslims, we judge by the apparent. *EDIT:* You should not be wearing makeup in your profile picture let alone use your face as your profile picture. This is haram. Fear Allah, his punishment is severe. What will you answer to Him when He asks you on yawm al qiyama why you continued making a display of your beauty even after you were warned? When the young generation today wouldn't be taught about deen in depth with evidence and only dunya and worldly education would be taught them. So in future when they grow up they would be doctors, engineers, architects, businessmen(women), computer programmers even pilots and so on so forth. But they wouldn't be aware of simple things about deen in life. So when they would be told about deen that kaza wa kaza is haraam or kaza wa kaza is allowed in deen. They would react quickly saying 'stop judging others' or 'stop being judgmental'. This would be because they would be programmed to stay away from deen. So at that time, the chance for them to get misguided is huge. And by seeing society today i fear this time is getting very close to the muslim ummah. : ( I pray to Allaah alone that may He guide us so that we can bring awareness about deen as well dunya into youth so when they grow up tomorrow they have taqwah and fear of Allaah in heart for every action they do in their life, ameen, allahumma ameen.

1:22 May Allah guide us all. Most scholars say that the wife’s of the profet Mohammed had burqa ! In some narrations it’s said the only one eye was reviled. It’s not obligatory to wear it it’s called Wajib or mustahab!
