Rustic David thanks for a quick reply, so what is your most common form of joining wood, if it’s a joint whiz is your favourite
@RusticDavid5 жыл бұрын
Happy Times hi well the most common joint that i use would be the mortise and tenon,its a table a chair a door a window a bed etc so thats the joint i make most then the simple edge joint ie no mechanical joint just two straight edges glued together to make wider panels then rebates for shelves these joints are common in my work for furniture for clients where they need to be made at a reasonable price, often the price dictates the construction method for cheap and cheerful furniture its plywood ,screws and a brad nail gun and glue personally im Happy to give the client what the want at a price that’s good for both of us ok im rambling on Have a great weekend David

@TheMrBonzz4 жыл бұрын
@@RusticDavid thanks for the pin, Gunpla is a set of robotics toys called Gundam that you have to assemble yourself which is where the fun is (kind of like Lego's but less blocks and more anime), think of it like making your own miniature ships or houses, but instead of woods it's plastics, and instead of ships and Houses it's robots with wings and guns and swords.

Not gundam exactly but still a Bandai kit looll. Got a whole bunch of HG and RG kits built using the nail polishing sets.

Hello sir, thanks for the information. Can u make a video on same topic like, sand papers are used in wet condition also. Y they are used and what is the advantage. Also if possible make a video on how to paint a metal part and plastic part, because some videos are having different sanding technique, so i want to learn the perfect procedure.
@RusticDavid4 жыл бұрын
Hi Manoj Thank you for your feedback,wet sanding i would say is for non porous surfaces like painted or varnished wood,metals,plastics ,glass etc. “wet and dry “ sand paper is used which is made fo this purpose,starting in higher grits 600 through to the 1000’s the water washes away the dust and debris and lubricates the surface . Same rules apply start with low numbers and work your way up . I will make a note of your request but meanwhile watch some car body repair videos and furniture painting videos especially spray painted Good Luck to you my friend David

is it ok if i sand with 80 then straight to 220? or must i go from 60 to 80 to 120 then to 220 to get smoothness?
@RusticDavid2 жыл бұрын
It’s best to go through consecutive grits as the next higher grit removes the scratches of the previous grit this not only gives smoothness but visual clarity you can see the beauty of the wood like polishing a lens best wishes David

Hey David. I've got matte, soft plastic juggling balls that got smoothened over time with wear, drops and contact with rough surfaces. Which number I fixed scratches discs
@RusticDavid3 жыл бұрын
Hi Mahmood if you start sanding with 80 grit 120 will remove 80 scratches 220 will remove 120 scratches So go back to a lower grit number to remove scratches then go up to a higher grit number I hope this helps Best Wishes David
@betterlatethannever4529 Жыл бұрын
But why not just start at a higher number? How much is actually being removed with each?
@RusticDavid Жыл бұрын
Hi if you start at a higher number it will take more time to remove planer marks and scratches and wear out sand paper, the low numbers will remove material easily and fast, in short it saves time and sand paper Best wishes David

But what does it mean when people in videos use 600 grit? Or 1000 or even 2000! The other day a saw a 18000 grit :(
@RusticDavid Жыл бұрын
Hi isabella, if someone is sanding wood that’s hard and highly figured ( that’s to say looks good) the higher up the grits you go the more polished the wood is and the more details of it you can see . Think of a pair of eye glasses if they are scratched with a low grit you cannot see well through them the higher grit makes them clear and you can see I don’t often use such hard highly figured woods and i sand 60,80,120 ,220 and stop there Hope that helps best wishes David
