A compiled explanation so I don’t forget: 1-192nd note: I don’t know know how to explain properly, time signature I guess? Jumps: When 2 notes must be pressed at the same time Jump chain: Same thing but there’s an extra note before each jump Hands: When 3 notes must be played at the same time Quads: You guessed it, 4 notes must be played same time Grace notes: When 2 notes don’t play at the same time and 1 of them is little bit delayed Trills: When a chart repeats in an alternating pattern between 2 notes Jump Trills: Like trills but they instead alternate with 2 pairs of notes (Jumps) Jackhammer (Jacks): when a note has to be pressed repeatedly within quick succession. Stream: When a chart basically throws a flow of notes at you, like a “Stream” Jumpstream: Same thing, just instead with jumps rather than singular notes. Running men: When one note must be played like a jack while the other three needs to be played like rolls (Explained in next one) Rolls: When all notes get played in a diagonal pattern, can be from left to right or right to let. Triplets: When 3 notes are played in a succession, take a single note break, before continuing Mini jacks: Jacks, but they’re usually hidden in Streams and they usually only have to be repeated once instead of multiple times.

Some more information here I wanna provide, as a VSRG charter myself The nth note shown in this video are used in Stepmania. The are different from the ones in Quaver, Malody, and osu!mania which uses 1/n The relation is that the number here has to be divided by 4 to get that of the three mentioned above So 4th equals 1/1, 12th is 1/3, 192nd is 1/48, etc. in Quaver, Malody, osu!mania Also, iirc the terms "jump" and "hand" comes from DanceDanceRevolution - this is because you have to "jump" to hit two notes at once and you need a "hand" to hit three notes at once in the game. Hope these explanations help some people here. 😊

Cool information, the only one I already knew was the hands and jumps. I have a question about O2Jam, does it use the same nth note system as simfiles or is it different and goes like the others.
@windowsxpnt2347 Жыл бұрын
The term hand came about in the itg community, as in ddr there has never been an officially playable chart with a hand note in
@ShiroCh_ID Жыл бұрын
and i think pump just add new way to contermeasures to hand notes they call them Bracketed notes, since those 3 notes jump you need to press 2 panel at the same time resulting your feet to be in the most corner of that panel wich was usually were bracket of that note were placed though im still curious since when they did brackets considering if you lucky to search older pump it up game play from 2005 till 2011 you almost not see any player doing brackets and use hand instead
@opposite342 Жыл бұрын
Oooh that's interesting cuz when I heard of "brackets" in my community, it usually refers to a pattern where you would alternate between the group of notes that are one space apart. For example in 7-key charts it would be hitting columns at 1357 first and then hitting 246 and so on. I guess in this case for PIU it only refers to hitting 135 (no alternation). But yeah it is quite interesting to see these differences in coining/using similar terms between different rhythm games.

You forgot to add crossovers which are very similar to running men Running men as denoted in the video you have made are a series of patterns on the left / right receptors with a staircase pattern on the outsides of them. Crossovers are a similar concept however now it has changed to a series of patterns on the up / down receptors with the staircase pattern now having to "cross over" them instead of just being to one side of them.

Hallo im new on playing rhythm games and the only thing i can't do here are jacks,handstream, and jumpstream do you guys know some song or way to improve myself? Also about how to read them tons of notes on jumpstreams and handstreams when its all chaotically fast? TY

I've sparingly played rhythm games before, but FNF was the first one I've truly invested myself in, however it's made for casual fun and characters (which is why I appreciate it), not for difficulty. I genuinely use this video at varying speed intervals so that I can learn new patterns and now I've improved greatly. I've gone from not being able to beat Guns on Hard to being able to treat Hellclown as warm-up. I still can't get past Matt's first week, but I know I'm getting closer to being able to think at that pace.

@@dinosharttt there's a lot of things I can break down here: 1 - you responded to a 6 month old comment, not knowing how much improvement was made. 2 - you're complaining to a comment which said they sparingly played rhythm games, meaning you think every rhythm game is for little kids 3 - you think jacks are the only thing in Matt's songs 4 - this comment is old and has very few likes so very few attention and traction, and yet you replied with likes on both of yours instantly, meaning you liked your own comments. You seem desperate for attention with your comment, ironic since you already get some by just telling people not to use keyboards.

Having a metronome would have helped to better accentuate the different note types. During the 12ths and other notes you kind of lose track of the beat and where the note would go relative to the beat

I guess the trick is that if you can divide it by three, they tend to sound funky and are used sparingly (unless it’s a swing rhythm).

Let's not forget a handful of these can be referred to differently based on the game and player's game history. IE: running men is also known as anchors (because one foot is anchored to the arrow when playing on a pad). ((and in more specific case scenarios they're called candles if the pattern were to go LULDLULD because if you put a candle in the middle of the pad it'd be knocked over (or some origin story like that, I'm not positive))). Grace notes are occasionally referred to as gallops or flams, and mini jacks are sometimes referred to as double taps. It's hard to ever have one solidified name for each possible pattern for 4K/VSRGs because of the decades of history these games have, but having a decent, Simplistic video recording like this is better than what most have done.
@Akita232 жыл бұрын
A couple more examples: rolls are usually referred to as stairs/staircases, trills are usually drills, and triplets some people tend to use specifically for note combos that form triangles (from what I've experience anyway) IE DRD ULU URU DLD etc
