Lighting gels are one of the most useful and inexpensive tools in your lighting toolkit. But if you're brand new to lighting and you get handed a swatch book of lighting color gels, it's overwhelming to know which ones you need to get and which will be the most useful lighting gels to buy!
Thankfully Lee filters has put together a super useful pack, called the Lee Filter Master Location Pack, which contains the most common lighting gels used on location of film and video sets.
It contains the color correction gels such as cto gel, ctb gel, diffusion, ND and effects gels in on handy, inexpensive kit.
This kit will give anyone new to lighting a great beginner gel kit and inform the which gels to buy if they need larger lighting gel sheets or lighting gel rolls.
In this video (part 2) we give you an overview of all the different diffusion, ND and effects lighting gels in the pack. We give you a practical example of the look each gel will give to your image. In this video we used an Arri 650+ tungsten fresnel and clipped each gel directly onto the barn doors of the light when taking the shot. We adjusted the cameras aperture to compensate for the light reduction factor of each gel.

What is the reason you are using 3200K? Is that the colour of the lights? Is that a ct value for video ? I’m used to shooting stills at >6000K
@CreativePathFilms
@CreativePathFilms 2 ай бұрын
Yes it’s matching the CT of the Tungsten light used for this showcase, which is also the second most common CT for film/video, after 5600k daylight. Much warmer than flash for stills! Tungsten halogen lights (3200k) have the highest possible color rendering/ color fidelity available from an artificial source. So I use them when demonstrating gels for color accuracy, as it mitigates any potential color temperature or green/magneta shifts (commonplace in LED’s, for example). I examine tungsten lights color fidelity in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/a7ChoLpn087eqqc.htmlsi=xc8Kk4ni1dcuoD3P And discuss them more generally in this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ir1pY66ev524lqM.htmlsi=bQdgbE_AzQok_N9s And this video: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/grdkfpeosti2mZs.htmlsi=K50uCard0-wvOPXy
