I looked into Chinese excavators. I went with a used kubota. Cat is junk if you want a simple machine. Cat uses electric over hydrolic. They are fast. The feel isn't there. I run machines for a living. I have run about everything. Some are fast some are slow. I rented a Yanmar 17 few years ago. It wasn't very impressive. Kubota for what I have run so far. They have impressed me for what they can do. Price range of a used machine. You can't beat it. Their engines are very reliable. They have made tractors for years. I got a KX41-3V 1300 hours for $14,000. Parts I can get anywhere. Buckets, teeth, exc. I may get a bigger one. But, It's done everything for me just fine. Some kubotas have angle blade. That's awesome very handy in every way.

The Chinese machine with a enclosed cab is a great deal for a gentlemen farmer but if you need the machine for work everyday the Yanmar is probably worth the investment.

The skinnier bucket will slice into the ground much easier; this was not a real digging comparison between machines, only the buckets. Swap buckets then see how it goes.

The Chinese machine was labouring fairly hard when trying to break out but that could be the bucket as well. Either way it’s still a very capable machine. For the price it sure beats hiring one all the time.

There's a lot of videos on Chinese equipment out there. I like this one because you've done a fair comparison between a quality machine and a budget Chinese excavator. Most guys who buy those Chinese loaders and diggers are DIY'ers and homeowners who don't use the equipment daily in a commercial setting.

This past spring i was in the position of either buying a brand new chinese 3 ton or a 20 year old Kobelco 3 ton and decided to go with the Kobelco. I know theres parts available and the chinese quality is just not there yet. i have putchased chinese attachments in the past and have always spent money on repairs or having to get parts custom machined to work.

I’m at these cross roads as well. Chinese parts are relatively cheap compared to big brand machines. Imagine replacing a track motor on a Chinese one vs kubota or cat ect. $600 for a Chinese one and it would be at least a few thousand for the latter.

I think the china unit has a fixed displacement pump, so it's just fast all the time. If it had a variable displacement pump like every other machine. I think it'll give that yanmar a run for its money... But it's built at a price point.

That wasn't even fair. It's like running the wrong end of a spoon through a bucket of ice cream vs the shovel end of the spoon. Most people that have multiple buckets for a full size or mini hoe could tell you a trenching bucket is easier on the pumps. The only real benefit I see is stability and traction.

Ive loved useing the yanmar as a rental for our projects. That said, we are considering buying the Agro so we can spread out jobs and not be in such a rush. Looks like a solid platform. That said, def agree with the yanmar quality. Operating without pump whine and stable movement. The more expensive systems purr like a smooth cat. Also love the coke bottle layout vs obese tub o lard. But at less than half price and intermittent use its hard to complain about agro.

The Yanmar dug effortlessness. I could hear the other one straining when digging. A very nice machine, but wow 50K new? For wow, for the price difference the smaller one wasn’t all that bad. But how long would it last also would be extremely important. Nice video!

If buying Chinese 15K one after you get it as lots of people do is buy after market stuff to make improvements to make it better Perkins engine are good motors my dad had farm tractors that had Perkins engine in them and over 30 years later they are still running very strong

Well! Longevity depends on many factors. The Chinese stuffs like this machine runs for around 3 years and then off to the scrap yard. On the other hand, if you have extra parts and a proper mechanic service from the company that you bought it from, then you can make it work longer actually. Although, as I said, it all depends. My mate when he started off his gardening/landscaping company, he bought a cheap Chinese machine, and then bought a used Jcb from the profit of that. The most important aspects are service and spare parts!!

I look at it... If buying brand new if people have 50K to spend then yammer would be the way to go.. but if not then maybe the 15K is the way to go and Perkins engine is a good motor I had farm tractors with the same motor and here it is over 30 years later and they are still running very strong... And on any thing anyone buys there's always room for improvement to make it way better....

The snaller excavator are not like thr bigger one. Use the boom an stick along with the bucket. Insted just curling the bucket like you done with chinese one. In my opinion they have there advantages but both are weak. An you have a bigger bucket on the chinese one so its going make the surface area plowing in a lil harder verse a smaller bucket.

I having bought a much bigger excavator than these both together and a whole lot cheaper think that Excavators are a work horse in the quarry area.. if your renting , rent cheap as possible, if buying buy something that can be repaired easily and your local repair guy wants to repair coz its not from CCP land, all love to the Chinese people none to their socialist dictators.

What a bias comparison. With the cheap digger, not only did you try and dig deeper in one go, but you also put the pile of dirt twice as far away from the hole than you did when digging with the yanmar. Proof right there on the video. Yanmar pile about 2 feet away from the hole, and chinese excavator pile about 5 feet away. And the smaller bucket on the yanmar breaks up the dirt far easier than the larger bucket on the chinese rocket, which makes it far easier to take that second slice.
