What happens when you dig your basement and the hole fills with water? There are a couple of different options. This is great info for selling new construction homes as well as anyone that is going to build a home

Hi Jason, I was just wondering about the sump pump that you were mentioning. We are building a frost wall for my front concrete porch right now and are having the same trouble with the water coming up from the ground through the clay. High water table and of course clay retains a lot of the water. But you mentioned the sump pump... Do people install sump pumps outside to take care of these water issues?

is there some one to answer my problem!!! yep i hope i may get that " in ground floor cellar say parking place got a natural spring from the ground ..through concrete..is there any other method to solve this issue apart from removing with power motors???.

I have a lot like this and there's seepage coming off the sides of the trench some 4 feet down what causes this? Can you still build with this? Would a curtain or foundation drain be sufficient to build with this sespage?

I see in some new foundation excavation filled with rain water for some time. Is it good to buy homes build in those plots. Will there be settling issues.. whats your thoughts on that

raj4all2007 There’s a lot of different scenarios with that sometimes the builder or contractor just doesn’t get out to the site to pump the water out. Ideally it’s good to build somewhere where the hole is not filling up with water but that is not always possible. We are building a home right now where we dug down only 2 foot and hit water typically we are digging down 8 to 9 feet and putting in a full basement. So what we are doing is filling in 1 foot of the 2 foot deep hole with stone and pouring the footings on top of that, that way water stays below the footings. The basement wall will stick about 8 feet out of the ground and we will bring in Lots of dirt To backfill around the foundation and fill in the yard. It’s not uncommon to see water in the basement or in a hole after it’s dug and we have rain, there is no way to get it out without pumping it out. Once the sump pump is installed there’s usually not an issue

Hi Jason is there anyway I can contact you my dad has basically a spring of water popping up and filling the hole of our dig for our new home like a flipping pond and we are kind of stumped on what the heck to do.

isnt it called watter table? how do you know if its too wet to build a basement

You can have a soil engineer do a soil boring to know for sure, prior to buying or building on a property

Build a frost wall for a foundation for a garage had to pump water out til we back filled. Figured water would be pushed away when back filled with sand. Water still in blocks? Any suggestions?

Could you drill a small hole in the bottom of each row of blocks? Or are you just saying the concrete block is just soaked through, not that there is sitting water in it?

How far above a river/pond water line is this property? I'm looking at a lot that is about 7-10 feet above a river and 2 ponds.. water puddles on the surface of this lot in some places (black dirt) and underneath they say is probably sand, but could be bedrock too, it's a significant bedrock area in Ontario Canada. I made a video just as an idea but you can't see the river although it's down in the valley there.. studio.kzfaq.infobKFjA2r5G5g/ I guess there's no way to tell until they dig what they find.. bedrock, or sand, .. but I wonder if the water can be coming upward if the river is below?.. or run underneath in the soil from higher elevation.. there are 3-4 acres of land above. I can opt out of a basement if needed so I'm hoping this land is usable to build something. Do you have any thoughts? Thanks in advance!
