Years ago I was doing some tractor work on a piece of property near Julian CA. We started finding pockets of old wine bottles. The story was, the woman who lived there years before had a drinking problem, when her husband went to work she would walk to town, purchase wine, drink it then throw the empty down the outhouse hole so her husband wouldn’t find them. Over the years they would relocate the outhouse and start a new pit.

I didn’t think there were any previous left in Arizona that you hadn’t already dug 30 years ago. I went back and started watching all of your old videos from the very beginning. You were quite the prolific digger back then not that you’re not now glad to see you going back to the digging a little bit easier hopefully you find some good stuff there.😎

Just got back from digging... found a fully intact freeblown honey amber 1 gallon+ demijohn...it has amazing whittle marks and knot rings. Found a few ground top bottles, a Brookfield insulator that says N EW YORK...huge space between the N and EW. And a milk glass jar embossed Ice Mint on the base. (Of course multiple inks and canning jars but nothing worth mentioning.)

Do you ever dig in Virginia?

I just had a look at Hamilton NC on Google Street View. This is of course where that flask you recently dug was from. I don't know if you ever get permission to dig from property owners but there's a lot of old homes along the main street. I'd say some are certainly pre 1900. There could be quite a few privies there. Just a suggestion. Regards. Jonathan.
