Digging a very rocky retaining wall footing. This is at a new construction home and I had to dig about 100' of footing for the concrete guy to put a retaining wall. I guess they will put some decorative stone on it when it's all done. The job took around 3 hours because it was so rocky, I really need to start bringing the ripper to these jobs. But I got it done and they were able to pour that afternoon. Thanks for watching! #EliteEarthworks #Takeuchi #Footing

Lol... Brandon after watching several of your rock digging videos I've come to the conclusion that you like to punish yourself and your machines. Watching your channel is gigging rock and you watch Let's Dig18 and he's digging mud. I'm never ever going to complain about anything ever again! I live about 25 miles from Jpaydirt and I've gotta say that comparing soils we have awesome soil for excavating.

I’ve got a question for you, we’re digging my basement out now with a Case 580 backhoe, we’re digging our footings and hit a big rock. We removed the rock but have about 2’ or so lower then grade for the footings. What’s the best way to go about that? Add concrete to the hole? Throw rocks in then concrete? Just curious what you would do?
@eliteearthworksllc
@eliteearthworksllc 2 жыл бұрын
You can add clean rock to the spot that’s low because it doesn’t settle and it’s cheaper than concrete. But if it’s easier you can just add concrete if it’s tough to get back to it
@jonhumphries26
@jonhumphries26 2 жыл бұрын
@@eliteearthworksllc sounds good buddy! Thanks for the quick reply, would you recommend like bigger clean rocks. It’s mainly sand stone I’m digging in. The guys are going to form my footers, it’s just a pain digging in it creates a bunch of voids in the earth from all the rock and all. I appreciate the advice man.
@eliteearthworksllc
@eliteearthworksllc 2 жыл бұрын
@@jonhumphries26 you’re welcome! If you have a 3” clean rock available that would probably be best but if not the smaller stuff will work. Oh yeah that stuff is a pain to dig in and maintain a certain depth. You need to go down like 3” more inches, hit one rock and you’re a foot lower lol

The only thing that would make that job better... doing it in August. Then you’d be breaking all the rocks instead of rolling a few of them out! I bet some treasure hunter in the future will cross that pile of rocks and get a hit on his metal detector... from all the teeth tips you ground off. After a day of that kind of digging my legs kill me. I can’t relax and dig... I tense up and try to push the bucket in the ground with my feet. I’d never make it as a full time digger! Nice job of showing SW/MO soil at its finest!
