Digging pond in mud hole. Also landscaping around the house. The pond is again totally peat hole, so it's quite tricky to dig. The last time I dug the ditch to drain this area the one side of the ditch just slid back in. So it's very dangerous to dig there, I can't lay big piles near the cutting edge. Now the weather is colder and when the ground is freezing up then it's better to dig and the peat layer holds the weight of the excavator and piles.

When it was rough weather out and I was inside something dry with a heater or a.c. in it I called that an 'OFFICE' job and a dragline with a 60 foot boom would be handy at the last. CHEERS again!

If I manage to get enough money, I will try to buy some long reach excavator. I could do some fun projects with that.

I cleaned out the settling ponds at the rock polisher with a long boom 320 or maybe a 322. Had a shallow wide bucket but was smooth to run and would reach a long ways. But I was used to draglines too and a hydraulic rig is a lot less confusing than a cable machine.@@AFHProjects

It's tough when it's cold out. When it was too cold to haul concrete I got to run an old 245 Cat ex shovel with a hydraulic hammer on it, popping boulders. That thing had a 3406 motor and was stiff as an iron wedge when first started and had to be warmed up s l o w l y. Once it got limbered up it could bust rock with the best of them but it had to be babied for a bit. I never have been one to push a rig and it cold either. Glad you know what to do there. I'd have to have some paint or stakes or something. CHEERS, Buddy!

Thanks Lewie! Yeah, it was cold there, over -20C out here. Need to warm up slowly and make some stretching to warm up the hydraulic fluids. Cheers!

What is the main purpose for digging these ponds, is it for watersupply, bathing og to hold fish?🤔

Most people use it for all of that together. It's practical and beautiful.

Thanks for the share and the extra details you shared in the description can I assume that that peat material doesn’t hold any structure until later in the year after it dries out in some fashion I remember your statement that it’s better to work in the current conditions sorry for all the questions I’ve never seen in show for that matter no experience of snow at all I’m in Australia

Yeah, the material layer that I laid out there is so thick, and it's too soft to hold the excavator. That's why I need to wait until I can finish it up. Thanks for watching and the comment! Cheers!
