One metaphor I once heard to explain the ratios of digimon per stage is: you can expect a sizable tribe of the Garurumon family to have a sizable number of Tsunomon & Gabumon (as well as a few freshly hatched Punimon) running around under the care and protection of a fair number of Garurumon. If they're lucky, they'll have one WereGarurumon leading the pack and protecting them. And the tribe will also share legends of one of their number, or maybe someone from another Garurumon pack, that once became a MetalGarurumon, and on one special day when the digital world needs it most, maybe one of the little Gabumon children listening to this tale will take that form themselves to save them all. (And then when the time comes, they become a CresGarurumon instead. Because the ratio of actual total Mega Digimon to Mega Digimon species is just that low.)

Champion is my favourite level. They often look like cool beasts or monsters before getting bogged down with tons of weapons or armour in their later stages. I've really enjoyed going through your videos. They are great for introducing friends to Digimon, which isn't always easy. I'm subscribed and looking forward to the next lesson.

Champion is where the design gets to the complete adult base point, that's true. After that many digimon become humanoid, what's a bit anthropocentric if you ask me.

makes you wonder if there is a set number of digimon as old as the digital world itself going through endless reincarnations since there is no mating to increase their numbers

@@GenMars no, yggdrasil, the "main frame" of the digital world, does make more digimon, not everyday but every só often, and one Digimon CAN turn into more than one digiegg. Just depends how much data they let out

I actually feel like the dub renaming it to be less about life stages and more power is actually closer to how most of the series really handles it anyway. For example, in frontier, there is an old kokuwamon, a child level digimon (like, it has a beard and everything) and, as far as we've gotten in rhe adventure 1999 timeline, their partners are still child level and were child level even in the epilogue at the end of 02 (not counting Gatomon). We've never really seen the base level of a partner digimon change (except maybe bancholeomon from data squad?) but that doesn't explain the old kokuwamon. I just feel like outside of the world games, it's only semi consistent at best with it being based on a life cycle instead of a power based hierarchy. The overall numbers in this video are definitely accurate and they do sdvance from one stage to another as explained but they can also just not advance and the rate at which they age is arbitrary at best too.

Because their "fresh" outta their egg and waiting to become "in-training" so they can become "rookies" that digivolve into "champions" to superdigivolve into "ultimates" and hyperdigivolve into "megas"

Honestly? Most of my Favorites are Rookie level. Dont get me wrong, the other levels are cool, but... My favorite Digivolution of ANY Rookie is an Armor Form... (i like Pegasusmon/Pegasmon) I do agree on one thing though... people need to STOP with Renamon. Leave the Fox alone. Also... you left off DNA/Jogress/Jogless Digivolutions, which are fusions of two, or More, Digimon. And can exceed Mega 1. Mega 2 and Mega 3 Exist you know.

Rookies are a great choice! Cute and full of potential! As for DNA digivolution I plan to cover that along with armor and dark digivolving in a later lesson. Also while some digimon are considered above mega in some sources, other official sources list them as just regular megas. I will go into the discrepancy and existence of super ultimates later on though!

@@The_digiologist being completely honest, my top 5 Digimon are all Rookies.(Patamon, Renamon, Dorumon, Lunamon, Jellymon) and That's primarily because they are A: Adorable, B: Foxes, or C: Both. Heck, my top 10 only have three non-Rookies, and of them, only one is higher than champion level(I like Apocalymon. It's the only major Villain Digimon that's secret was never revealed. I mean, Several sources claim the big shape with the chains is his prison, and he is still 80% Sealed... but we've never seen Apocalymon: Released Mode or whatever... might be an interesting topic for a video...) Now, top 20 gets interesting, with Beelzemon and Metalseadramon, among others... But yeah, I like the Rookies a lot. In fact, I can't think of one I DONT Like, species-wise(Specific characters though? Tamers Version Terriermon... I HATE that Terriermon. If I had been That kid, I'd have strangled it.) I have seen EVERY DIGIMON SERIES SO FAR. And I've played most of the games, had multiple V-pets... When everyone else was obsessed with pokemon, I was the Digimon guy. So I REALLY like you guys who do Digimon content. Always great to watch.

Hopefully their data can be find its way back to the digital world through a digivice, computer, or nearby digital portal. If not...then they likely will not reincarnate at all.

Most Rookie are relatively harmless. ...And then there's Lucemon. For favorite level... Hm. Might be Ultimate. Megas are nice and all, but Ultimate has both power and more variety: There are so many Ultimate that I have struggle to think good Mega for. 3:25 Calling out half the internet, I see. :P 4:32 Let's be fair, Ogremon would pick a fight with IRS.
