Savers is easily in my top 3 Digimon shows, I love Marcus and Agumon (even tough he gave me a bad first impression, Agumon's voice in spanish is really weird), they're both awesome.

Digimon Data Squad (Digimon Savers) is personality my favorite Digimon season, the story is great, the characters are loveable (except for Kurata, screw that a-hole), the action is good same with the humor and it gave me the most badass protagonist ever, Marcus Damon (Masaru Daimon)

Kurata is one of my favorite villains in the franchise. It’s nice to have a human villain who isn’t being brainwashed by an evil Digimon or overcame with guilt.

That's something I forgot to mention; I'm glad that they censored a bomb into a funny orange and made a kinda cute gag episode but kept the death of Thomas' mother and the rest of his backstory rather than the other way around. I don't mind the orange, but I'd be mad if they got rid of any of Thomas'backstory.

Yeah, the wildchild trope for Ikuto/Keenan was ALWAYS weird to be XD I could get it if he was raised by some of the jungle digimon but his parental figure was Frigimon... So strange XD

One of my favorite seasons. Frontier is my personal favorite but I still agree with the flaws many have and can see why many dislike it. Also can’t deny how its reputation is. I felt like after Frontier, some were thinking Digimon was over, even with the X-Evolution film. Until the end of 2005 where Savers was released. It did feel different due to the more shonen feel of the series and a different character design. Plus it trying to be more dark but it does work here. Masaru isn’t very complex but he is likeable. The whole thing with the Digimon and human relationship was interesting and showed how Kurata, despite his backstory into hating Digimon to be somewhat weak at first glance, represents someone hating something they don’t understand and we see that from the Digimon side too. The animation, Royal Knights, one of the best fathers in Digimon history, Burst Mode, a different Agumon line, I really loved Savers! The ending felt like it kind of defeated what the series was setting up but it did say the gate wasn’t going to be closed for good.

I really want a second try on a shonen digimon anime like Savers, especially now with the budget and animation quality the franchise can affort right now using the fights in ghost game for reference.

I enjoyed it as a kid and and I still enjoy it now I think my favorite scene is Marcus‘s sister gets her own partner and then loses a partner, but then gets it again and then her partner loses its memories after being reborn, which is actually a sad scene, but it also made me cry, but all honesty. I enjoy the series I love Digimon it will always have a place in my heart and always be there.

I had such a hard time making sure I didn’t comment until the end of the video so I didn’t have to keep editing it lol. I’m going to keep calling the main character Marcus because I watched the English dub. I had to completely rethink what I thought about this season. Initially I thought it would be a bit closer to the bottom of my fav season list but thinking back on the episodes, it definitely is closer to the top. Especially when it came to the story. I honestly didn’t remember the ages of any of the characters. I honestly thought they were all adults but either way I don’t think that would cause too much of a change in the story. Even as an adult you could see struggle with some of the things the characters did and that made it so relatable even as an adult. Completely agree on Kurada. That mfer to this day still pisses me off and ugly gizumon. I do remember watching as a kid and what bothered me the most was either the mispronunciation of Digimon names or complete changes in the name. Loadknightmon for example. Made it more annoying because crusadermon was literally in the season before it. And there was an episode drimojimon SoFi loved to digmon and my kid brain said “where’s the armor digiegg”. My last gripe was that Yoshi and Kenan’s burst modes didn’t have as much care as Thomas and Marcus’ but at least they got one I guess. But outside of my small little pet peeves, I really enjoyed this season. I hate that there’s no easy way to watch it. All the other season can be streamed but this one. So frustrating! Even more now that this video makes me want to watch its

Tbh I didn't like the series on tv (especially since the last digimon we had air on sky was digimon tamers. They literally skipped frontiers after fox kids died and jetix became disney XD, but they did put savers on disney for some reason.) and the dub didn't help, but after I say the guy punch a giant bird I got hooked. Well not entirely, I was watching the dub and I had enough when Citrusmon arrived. I know censorship but come on, it was obvious that it was badly done. So I went online and did my first watch of a english sub in my life. I loved it. Tamers fighting alongside digimon has always been something I loved; rather than just standing there pokémon trainer style like the first 2 series. I wish they did it more often. Then again I never saw Frontiers so maybe I should finally watch that? I only know about it from games like Digimon Masters and Digimon Next Order (and even earlier a warcraft 3 map :P ) so maybe I should give it a go?

I don't know if you ever got around to watching Frontier but if you haven't, it does what you were thinking but in a more fundamental way. The kids actually turn into Digimon.

I’m currently watching savers right now, I enjoy it a lot. The thing that bugs me about savers however is masaru digimon partner agumon. I love agumon, but I felt he just doesn’t fit with masaru. He needed a fighting type Digimon, something based in martial arts. I thought that beta flamon design from frontier would fit masaru best being a lion looking flame fighter fitting masaru and his father’s reveal later on. Other than that, it’s definitely one of my favorites. The characters are enjoyable, the villains are despicable, and the idea of people keeping their Digimon even in old age…perfect! Masaru is the best, forget the sidelines I’m punching a Digimon in the face too. I want to fight with my Digimon beside me not only being a spectator. Savers is definitely in my top 3.

Just finished watching it today after watching this video and there are issues I had with it but still much better than I thought it was going to be. I'll still say Tamers is my favourite as I love the stuff they did with Jeri and the D-Reaper even if it gave me nightmares when I first watched it at 8 years old but there's still a lot I liked about Data Squad and found it to be a really enjoyable and underrated series. Definitely much better than my current least favourite Digimon series: Digimon Frontiers. Definitely going to give this video a like for helping me give the series a second chance.

One of my favorites by far, due to the characters and humans vs. Digimon plot lines. No matter how much I like it, though, Masaru needing to punch Digimon is one of the worst Digimon things ever imo. I have to look past that, but once I do, the series is fantastic.

Masaru and Agumon's relationship is written a lot more to have a japanese delinquency style of heirachy, which gives an interesting angle when banchouleomon comes in, there's some difference in voice direction, eg: gaomon sounds a bit more like a more formal gabumon instead of nearly military and the opening/ending themes are pretty great. give it a few episodes, see if it clicks with you

Tamers more or less has equal evolutions as well. Guilmon does get Megidramon as dark path, and there is Crimson Mode with Grani but I'm not sure those two should count. Either way, I have a lot of respect for DATS for given everyone a fair representation all the way to mega AND the season's gimmick.

I find it overated myself. Masaru was plain unlikable as a (screenhog) protagonist. And it was just daft how none of the Digimon just swatted him away whenever he tried to punch them. Additionally, Kurata was a lame antagonist. Who only got as far as he did due to the rest of the cast acting like morons. "Oh I hate Digimon, and I want to kill them all! But I also use Digimon to take over the world cos that's what a generic mad scientist like me does! LOL!"

I thought it started good but slowly got worse with most of my problems being with the pacing and how it felt like character arc's took too long to resolve. I stopped watching around 10 episodes before the ending because I felt like the show had come to good enough ending as is, and I didn't feel like by skipping the last episodes I would lose anything of note

23:09 I did watch the Eng dub of savers and never watched the Japanese version but my first question was why do we have agumon but no tai did something happen between them? Not what happened in last evolution and I thought of that question before knowing there were different universes in the digiverse

I like Data Squad/Savers a bunch, but not as much as you clearly do. I have some issues with the pacing during the Bio-hybrid arc and even with the open ended ending it didn't seem right to split up the other pairs, particularly Yoshi & Lalamon and Keenan/Ikuto & Falcomon who had known each other for most of their lives by that point. Kurata being the pure evil type of villain while making him easy to hate also made him feel super one dimensional, and that only workls for me when it's done in an affable way like with Aku or Jack Horner. Also even though the protagonist dark digivolution moments are usually my favourites, Ruin Mode did pretty much nothing for me. Having said all that I still do appreciate the show for feeling like it tried to mature with its audience as well as for how solid the core cast is. Plus seeing Marcus/Masaru wallop Digimon many times his size is always a treat to behold.
