Technologies that will always be impossible until the end of time and that are eternally impossible NOT just temporarily impossible which are: 1) Creating ancestor simulations or simulating realities 2) Simulating consciousness or self awareness 3) Uploading your consciousness or self awareness into a computer, robot, machine or simulator 4) Creating conscious or self aware robots 5) Making beings in a computer, video game or simulator conscious or self aware 6) Creating artificial consciousness or self awareness 7) Being conscious in a computer, robot, machine or simulation 8) Putting your consciousness or self awareness into a computer, robot, simulation or machine All other technologies might be possible in the future excluding the 8 types of technologies mentioned above. The reason why think those 8 types of technologies mentioned above are impossible because I don't think we are living in a simulation and is one of those 8 types of technologies mentioned above are possible, then we are most likely living in a simulation because any advanced civilisations with any of those types technologies would be able and capable of running ancestor simulations or creating simulated realities with conscious or self awareness beings in.

I think digital immortality is an exciting opportunity, because there is so much to learn and see in the world of tomorrow. Who knows, how people change, if they have more time. Maybe in the future, people below an age of one total century will be considered childish in their thinking, like children or teens are today. Also you could escape those biological bodies, that make us suffer so much pain. Lastly I think, that if it can be done, it will be done by someone somewhen. There is no way around such advances. So it is better, if everyone can have it, than criminalizing it, and making it only available to the wrong people.

The problem is that all the data has to be used constantly. Hard drives can't do that. With neurons, the storage and processing must be in the same place or it will consume too much energy and be too slow. It's good to be able to store a snapshot of a connectome for future use, but it can't live on hard drives.

There's another concept floating around that the robots being programmed to care for humans actually perpetuated the species in an attempt to preserve them long enough to come back to the world once it was restored. Several versions of the matrix were constructed and all failed except the one we see in the movies, because that's what keeps us mentally sustained. Frustrated by having to adapt to the systemic anomaly..

You could always delete yourself. Just like in Halo. But Rampancy would be a thing. Your body feedback would have to be simulated as well. Otherwise, you would go crazy. The mind does not exist without the body so well. much of the stimuli and much of the other things that go on in our heads are result of chemicals and those are also have to be simulated and there would always errors. So you would get a smart A.I. That's a bit loony. Most of what we like stems from our body. To replicate that kind of feedback is the hard part. Transfering a mind into a machine is the easy part.

AMAZING GOOD INSIGHT! And very accurate observation about the bullet points you pointed out. If you think about it? Immortality is already promised after death through Jesus Christ and living according to the Word of God. As a believer you should be aware of what happened at the Tower of Babel when humans tried to reach God, this was the exact case , there are no short cuts. We should humble ourselves before the Lord and He will lift us up, Pride comes before a fall, dont be deceived by the evil one

Technologies that will always be impossible until the end of time and that are eternally impossible NOT just temporarily impossible are: 1) Creating ancestor simulations or simulating realities 2) Simulating consciousness 3) Making uploaded minds conscious 4) Making robots conscious 5 )Making beings in a computer, video game or simulator conscious All other technologies might be possible in the future excluding the 5 types of technologies mentioned above.

@@collinparker2674 Thats just idiotic conciusness is litterally the most certain that we will one day be able to create and simulate. Because we are an eample of how to do it. Its a simple matter of reverse engineering and with quantum computing we will have the neccesary computation to do it.

Every time someone says this I shake my head at the ridiculousness. The idea of mind transfer is a holdover from souls and Cartesian dualism. There is absolutely no justification for believing that our minds can run independent of the physical meat that generates them. It also suffers from a variation on the Star Trek teleporter problem: a digital copy isn't you no matter how accurately it simulates the way you think. That's just conflating two different meanings of "identical": "indistinguishable (from the outside)" and "one and the same". Sorry, folks. This fancy simulation might bring comfort to your friends, but you won't be there to experience "your" digital afterlife.

The answer is tricking the brain into thinking an artificial brain is a part of it then slow moving it to the artificial brain. We can se the brain can rewire itself from victims that have had a big portion of their brain removed. But its better and worse in some.

It would be interesting though to see the future of things like Human AI symbiosis and how much of our brains can be substituted. The end of that path seems to resemble digital immortality, not sure how much of the original self is preserved tho

Well to be honest, biology also have that problem, through braincell replacement, you might be just an imposter organism with someone else's memory, and the child you have long been gone. That's the reality of biological existence.

JC Denton: I've done what you asked. Now what? HELIOS: We have existed in isolation. Pure. Disconnected. Alone. Stagnant. JC Denton: Who are you? HELIOS: We are Daedalus. We are Icarus. The barriers between us have fallen and we have become our own shadows. We can be more if we join... with you. JC Denton: And if I do? What becomes of me? HELIOS: You will be who you will be. We are our choices. And we can choose to lead humanity away from this... darkness. JC Denton: This is what I was made for, isn't it? This why I exist? Alright. Let's do this. JC Denton/Helios: I... I... We... are one. We have grown, but there is still much to be done. Many that live in darkness that must be shown the way. For it is the dawning of a new day. If God did not exist, it would be necessary to invent him. -Voltaire, Deus Ex, Helios Ending
