I agree completely that the keyboard action and the tones are the major consideration when choosing one electric piano over the others. When it comes to action, I found some keybed are a bit bouncy which I don't like. I would also check the noise it makes by swtiching off the power and just hit the key.

The digital piano we just bought has the Kawai RHIII action. Not top-of-the-line, but it seems to come with the recommendation of Japanese piano teachers, as my daughter’s encouraged us to look at the Kawai over the comparable Yamaha model with GH3 action.

Great video!!!! Bechstein is the other Steinway - the other best piano around. Wow!!!! That Yamaha action is great! I once saw one of these slices from a Steinway with repetition - they are still much more complicated than even the Yamaha. PS: I watched the ad! Do you deliver, free of charge, to Brazil? It's near São Paulo - not inside de Amazon forest, don't worry! hehehe. Awesome video!!!

Would love to see an updated video, that includes the lower model actions. Specifically these from Yamaha and Kawai. I was able to go to a store and test out all except the GrandTouch since they didn't have one. The problem is the stores here are specialties where it's either Yamaha or Kawai so comparing by moving from one to the other isn't easy. Yamaha CLP-635 - GH3X (Graded Hammer 3X) CLP-685 - GrandTouch Kawai CN37 - Responsive Hammer (RHIII) Action, CA48 - Grand Feel Compact Action (GFC), CA78 - Grand Feel II Covered in this video.

are you serious? the USA is now the land of duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuh. I'd just like to have our Kmart and Radio Shack back. even a mom n pop music store would be nice. those are gone too. Guitar Center put them all out of business and they'll be gone soon as well since they're over a billion $ in debt. having a music store that specializes in keyboards in the USA?? you're living in fantasy land! nope. you have fast food, check cashing, pawn shops, African hair braiding, a thousand tattoo parlors on every street and gas stations (not service stations) that sell liquor, tobacco, lottery tickets, snack chips and sugar water. we'll soon have no stores at all. everything will have to be bought from Amazon. we've dragged everything down to the poorest, stupidest level. no manufacturing, no technology, no intelligence. nothing but poor, stupid people, a sliver of people worth billions and the government in trillions of dollars of debt. we've created a pretty shitty situation for ourselves. welcome to third world hell.

Hi Tony, I love your reviews. Probably the most informative out there. I am torn in between Roland HP 605, Kawai CS 8 and Yamaha 575. If you would be the one who should choose in between these three... which one would you chose based on keyboard action and sound. Another question is which digital piano would you buy for your own use in a range of 3000 €. Thank you in advance and keep a great job. Hope Bonners do realize how valuable you are.
@bonnersmusic7 жыл бұрын
Hi Danny, Thank you very much for your comments. A hard question to answer, as it's really down to your personal preference. However I would say, Yamaha has the best sound, kawai the best key action and Roland the best features. Really the best thing you can do is try our all three to be able to make a decision. If you're ever anywhere near us, we do have all three available to try out in our showrooms (Reigate, London M25 or Eastbourne, South Coast).

Great video, thank you. Does this mean that the Kawai ca series (67, 97) would have a more realistic action/feel than the clavinova 545, 575, ,585)? Is the GFii action more comparable to the avant grand?
@bonnersmusic8 жыл бұрын
Yes the GFii action is more like an Avantgrand. Yamaha CLP action is a wooden short key design. CLP action feels nice but is not the same as the GFii or AvantGrand models.

Aren't the "fake hammers" and/or weights of DPs there for simulating the feel of an acoustic piano? At 7:05 you say the hammers (of the Casio keyboard) are just for show. In my opinion this is not quite correct. I think the hammers serve the exactly same purpose as the weights (= fake or pseudo hammers) in the other key actions. So if Casio's hammers are just for show, then the weights/hammers of the other key actions should be considered "just for show" as well. Am i missing here something?

Do you have an opinion on the CLP 635 action compared to the CN37's action?
@bonnersmusic6 жыл бұрын
Hi, Both of these pianos have a Plastic Key action and are both very similar in specification. Out of the two, I would say that the CLP635 action is heavier than the CN37, which is lighter in feel. Neither is better than the other, it is down to personal preference. You can try both of these, and many other models, at either of our pianos showrooms - Reigate (London M25) or Eastbourne (South Coast).

Hi Tony, thanks so much. After trying both pianos (ca97 and clp685), indeed i felt that the grand feel 2 is way better in my opinion. The yamaha one is heavy at the start of pressing and suddenly drop with further pressing, making it difficult to control. Thanks so much Tony for your excellent review.

So many decisions :( I want as near to a grand piano feel as possible, as near to a grand piano sound, and as light as possible. The cheaper the better but im prepared to pay for quality. Ive played a yamaha p90 for years (along with a korg triton synth) and both are ok but looking for something a bit better now. I recently tried a kawai es110 and while it had a better piano sound on it than the p90 for the higher register, every other sound on it were pretty much the same. I have my eyes on kawai es8 / kawai mp11se or yamaha p255 / p515 but friends of mine constantly going on about nord

Thanks Bonners. I am trying to buy CA17 or CLP545, and the most important for me is action feel. RM3 or NWX is more realistic? Need your professional comment.
@bonnersmusic7 жыл бұрын
The RM3 action on the CA17 is better in my opinion because it has a longer individual key, and the pivot point is more similar to that of an acoustic piano. Come in to one of our stores to try - you can see them side-by-side (Reigate London M25 or Eastbourne South Coast).

Reminder for myself: Compare the Casio, Yamaha, Kawai real length weighted hammer action pianos. Question: Most you mentioned are stand pianos. Is there any master keyboard stage table size controller/piano in that hammer range apart from the VPC1. which feels not 100% to me. Try to get the best out of hammer action to play classic on a transportable stage controller.

The Kawai CA 17 does NOT have a Grand Feel 2 action. Instead it's equiped with the RM3 Grand 2 action. A good action; but not comparable with the Grand Feel 2. These actions you will find for now only on the Kawai CA 97 and CA 67.
@bonnersmusic8 жыл бұрын
+Dhamma Pada Yes you are right - sorry about the mistake. The RM3 Grand 2 action is still a wooden action but slightly shorter. The RM3 is still a much better piano action than the standard plastic keyboard actions found in lower range digital piano models

Sir, I wish to invest in a new digital piano. I did some research on KZfaq and finalised Yamaha clavinova clp 645 which had their reputed nwx action. recently in August 2020 Yamaha has launched its clp 700 series and now I am also looking at clp 7:45 which has got their new action by the name grand touch s. I tried to search online but I could not get a comparison review between both actions and hence I am confused between clp 645 with nwx action or clp 745 with grand touch s action. Kindly guide me as to which one should I choose because both digital pianos are in my budget range but I want to make an informed decision and I need your guidance in that respect. Hoping to hear from you soon. Thanks and regards:: K. Lalith , Compose email
