National or at least a Province version of H3 should be in this test to be more equivalence. Additionally, European players technic doesn't fit H3 as Chinese technic does. However, compliment should be given to TT Daily's efforts to compare them. tqvm.

Maybe hurricane 3 provincial orange sponge 40 or 41 degree with haifu seamoon will overkill the D09C in terms of spin and away from table power. Blue sponge is even better but its durability sucks so I recommend orange sponge.

The H3 orange sponge and blue sponge are complete different rubber. H3 orange with haifu seamoon boost is more close to a European/Japanese rubber with a tacky surface. (The cheapest H3 version's surface is not as tacky as compared Provincial version, so with booster it's pretty much like a euro/Japanese rubber.) The blue sponge hurricane 3 is probably one of the best forehand rubbers I have ever tried. Especially on Butterfly out-layer blades like Lin Gaoyaun ALC/Zhang Jike ALC/Viscaria Compared to the orange one, 1. Blue sponge's control is extraordinary, it's just so forgiving no matter it's place short or underspin open up or defense! 2. The blue sponge is "low throw" and is able to "absorb spin". When you use blue sponge to catch a super topspin incoming ball, you get much more confident to get it on the table or even attack back. This also give me more confidence in service receive. The orange version doesn't have such "absorb spin" ability, which is why I felt like it's more close to an euro/esn rubber. 3. The "low throw" ability of the blue sponge makes it's suitable for "Chinese Playstyle". You can swing all your power without worrying about the ball will go out of the table. With Tenergy 05, the "big swing" will make the ball out of table. Actually I found out when you hit hard with max power, the blue sponge has more "power" than the orange one. Or I would say the orange sponge will make ball go out of the table with same power. The Blue sponge is also has its problem: 1. Toooo expensive. I found blue sponge easier to break with bubbles if you boost it. Lifespan isn't great if you use boost oil. 2. Not good at smashing high balls, you'd better twiddle to your backhand Euro/ESN rubber. Now I'm still seeking a Euro/ESN rubber which has the same "low throw" & "absorb spin" feeling of the H3 blue sponge, but still don't find the choice. At least now for me the service placement/control of the orange sponge one isn't that great for me.

Hurricane‘s sponge needs to be glued in a special way to manifest its true power, only Chinese Pros know that secret XD. There are 3 different levels of Hurricanes in China -amateur(普狂),province(省狂)and national(国狂).The national Hurricane is as expensive as D05 in Chinese market, and it is been used by many legendary Chinese players in different generations,WangLiqin was a big fan of it,even his blade is Hurricane too.FanZhengdong even use both sides of it on his blade. As you can see, they both are players who has super forehand with super high quality, consistency and control XD. By the way,Hurricane’s sponge also have got two different styles, the Orange and hard Blue, which one to use depends on how powerful you are,Chinese national players are basically hard blue users.

I personally have different views on this comparison,it's about the body motion habit when hitting the ball,Dan and his partner 's bodies both drew not large enough when playing forehand to pull out the real high performance of Hurricane 3 so they conclude that Dignics 09c is better. However, many Chinese players draw their bodies large enough so they can pull out the real performance of Hurricane 3 and play well,at least that's what I think.😁😁

So i’m a European who started with a European style using tenergy rubbers, i have since changed to a Chinese/eastern style using dhs hurricane and i must say the difference is huge in the stroke mechanics and angles of contact, trying to use the wrong style with the wrong rubber is just not going to create anything other than incorrect information about the ability of the said rubber. ( your/TTD conclusions are correct for the style you used but the conclusions if you used the technique designed for the rubber would be totally different after engaging the gears available in the h3 rubber ) I use h3 neo on my forehand and tenergy on my backhand, and there is a reason why the Chinese use this combination

Since the poly ball Lots of chinese are now using tacky rubbers on their backhands like ma long. In my opinion 90% of people don't play table tennis at a high enough level to benefit from a tacky rubber. The biggest upside to a tacky rubber by far is how good it is for countering fast or spiny balls, however if you don't play table tennis to a very high level 70% of the people you will play against will be play an awakward play style that is very difficult to counter hit or they give you balls with not enough pace or spin. I am a top middle divison/low first division local league player and even when i've played in the first division only like 40% of the people I play against are conventional attacking players - Tacky rubbers feel so good against them. But then I play terribly against the blockers, the all round players, the flat hitters, the short pimple players, and worst of all, the players who back off the table - it's insanely hard to smash the ball hard enough with tacky rubbers to get it past someone who's competent off the table.

I am a little concerned about this review, I have enjoyed your past reviews a great deal. You are promoting "easy" , "poor form" , "less effort" into a inflated review for any euro rubber let alone dignics. Chinese rubbers speed is directly correlated to power input. it requires a higher skill level and stamina player. The players twiddle to euro rubbers when they can not put maximum effort, because euro rubber has larger spring but caps out, this is also why it's on backhand because you can't not put as. much energy into the backhand as a forehand based on our bodies mechanics. I think these topics should be seriously spoken about, it's misleading.

@@lgeiger H3 comes with a range of sponge hardnesses. The commercial H3 (tested in this review) comes most often with 40 degrees hardness (but other options do exist). The provincial and national versions offer broader ranges - as soft as 36 degrees and also harder than 40. So National doesn’t, in general, imply a harder sponge. Some CNT players seem to be using the 41 degree hardness (Lin Gaoyuan) and others 39 or even 37 (ML is said to use 39 on FH and 37 on BH). My experience going from 5 years on Tenergies to H3 was that I had to adjust my strokes a lot. But once I contact the ball well in loops, the ball catapults faster and with more spin than what I could get from Tenergies. For flat hits/blocks Tenergy would be much faster indeed, there is no workaround there :-)

For those that learned with Euro/Tensor rubbers the Dignics 09C is more familiar to those types of rubbers than the Hurricane 3. But for those that learned to play using Hurricane will find that Dignics 09C does not have the dwell time of the Hurricane 3. The feeling of the ball sinking in to the top sheet when top spin is irreplaceable. That feeling is only replicated by other Chinese rubbers such as Battle 2, Big Dipper, etc. TL:DR: Those that use Tensor rubbers will find Dignics 09C an easier transition. But to me it seems like the Dignics 09C is trying to be more of a hybrid rubber than that like the Hurricane 3. If you learn using Hurricane then you should just stick with Hurricane 3.

There are 2 major problems with this test: 1. It should be the D09C with 1 or 2 layers of Falco Platinum booster vs the H3 Neo National Blue Sponge 40 degrees with FOUR layers of Haifu Sea Moon National Yellow booster. And 2. You have to use both of them in black, as Chinese rubbers play differently from red to black. Black is considerably more spinny and the red is a bit faster and harder feeling. Anyway, the National Blue Sponges don't come in red. When you do that comparison, you tell me which one wins each category. I GUARANTEE that the boosted H3 Neo National Blue Sponge 40 degrees whips the D09C's arse, even for you Butterfly shills. And that's really the biggest problem here. Why would you choose the commercial H3 Neo vs D09C. Someone who is thinking of getting D09C wouldn't be considering the commercial H3 Neo against it. They'd be considering a National Blue Sponge, as D09C and H3 Neo National Blue Sponge are about the same price. This right here is some hardcore Butterfly shilling, which TTD can't seem to stop doing. All the ratings for blades and for rubbers are embarrassingly in favor of Butterfly products. I own, or have owned like 90% of the stuff on those charts. And I don't have any biases towards any companies, good or bad. That's how i know how hard TTD are shilling for Butterfly. And how could they not? They do business with Butterfly and Dan uses a Butterfly blade, Butterfly rubbers, and even Butterfly shoes, even though he'd play better with a different blade and rubbers, and his shoes are fugly as shite. Plus, his shoes never match anything he wears. TRY MIZUNO, DAN! And guys, just announce that you favor Butterfly products for whatever reasons you would like to admit, and just stop lying to people. It's so shady to do that. I cannot imagine how many amateurs have gone and wasted money on the extremely overpriced Butterfly stuff just because they saw you guys talk Butterfly's stuff up in an extremely biased way. I've recently watched a bunch of your equipment reviews and I've found what I would expect to find from someone who knows they're biased and are being deceptive about it. You guys almost never say anything remotely negative about something from Butterfly. Instead, you'll frame things as a preference type thing. Whereas with any other company, you clearly frame things as drawbacks when you talk about the negatives. Please just be honest, or just start being fair and not favoring Butterfly.

Maybe they just wanted to H3 instead of the H3 Neo National b/c they wanted to see how the budget rubber is compared to a reference rubber. Also this test isnt about "what is the best rubber in the world - everything else is trash". It was just "there are 3 famous rubbers. let us compare them".

It is normal that for you the dignics are better if your usual rubbers are European. You take advantage of the dignics because you are used to it but the bad thing is that you do not take advantage of the potential of the Chinese tires because they are very different tires with different game purposes and if the comparison is made by two players who play with European tires it is obvious what the winning rubber. For me, the video was good and entertaining, but when it comes to the comparison, bad from my point of view. I think you should have brought someone who plays with Chinese rubber instead of two players who play with European rubber.

Great comparison in general. There's just a slight point which is the forehand technique in China is different from EU so it needs time to adjust to the Chinese style rubbers(if you're into the better performance out of it). That is also part of the reasons why Chinese players stick to hurricane 3 even if they need to boost it. They were trained with it since kids and already got used to it.

With Chinese forehand technique, hurricane 3 gives a slightly weirder arc after bouncing off the table. And for me who take table tennis as a hobby, a better choice is to go with the 39 degree stiffness, which is easier to control.

As far as my experience goes with these rubbers (not that much) with the butterfly it's easy to get OK shots with not so OK technique, so it's easy to develop the wrong technique. But with a great technique, the hurricane shots become so much better, that when you focus on technique, these rubbers carry you to victory!

I mean the chinese have dominated for years with H3, its definitely a proven rubber. High-tension rubber like Dignics/Tenergy series has a limit on spin & speed which means that no matter how hard you hit, there is still a threshold of spin & speed. On the other hand, hard tacky rubber or Chinese Rubber such as H3, 729 Batte II, etc do not have that limit, the harder you hit, the more spin & speed you got, that's why Chinese players prefer it so that they can hit as hard as they can, usually they include their whole body into the stroke to make it more powerful. Moreover, hard tacky rubbers are more linear than high tension ones, thus it helps to land the ball on the table even though you hit super hard. However, you cannot do the same with high-tension rubber, the ball will mostly go out of the table when you hit hard. Next, the hard sponge is less sensitive to the spin which helps to counter-attack, receive serves, and control the ball much easier but the hard sponge is difficult to spin the ball on itself, that's why they add the tacky top sheet to spin the ball easier. Last but not least, hard tacky rubbers require you to have good technique & footwork, if you don't be in a comfortable position to hit the ball or hit the ball with a small force, it will go into the net immediately. This is where the high-tension rubber shine, you can generate enough spin & speed even though you are out of the position or hit the ball softly Most amateur players including me cannot compare with the professional ones in terms of technique, force, and footwork that why we hardly see the differences between hard tacky rubber & high-tension rubber. With a small force, the high-tension is clearly the winner in terms of speed & spin but with the larger force that most of the professional players had, hard tacky rubber is the winner. And of course, larger force requires good technique (including whole body, power-from-the-ground, etc), and footwork (you can run around the table, and hit hard in every position :))). Chinese players usually train very hard at their young age with hard tacky hard rubber so that they can hit the ball as hard as they can, they learn how to spin the ball by their techniques without the help of the rubbers.

Let’s be honest here Hurricane 3 needs a specific kind of technique to use it to its fullest but Dan and Tom do not use it so much so they can’t really say how better Dignics is compared to Hurricane 3. There is a reason that the whole china and their national team uses Hurricane and other player can’t even get used to it if they try to adapt to it
