A short video of a fix to my primer feed roller wheel, which was getting caught up on the base of the metal primer tube. Issue was resolved. I created this video with the KZfaq Video Editor ( / editor )

I also bought an aftermarket primer spacer plate with roller bearing guide, along with your upgrade should solve alot of issues

Had a similar issue but not as bad as yours. Fix was to loosen bracket that hold the rod and slightly rotating it to the right. That way the rod travels away from the primer bar. Thanks for the video.

I bought a JW Systems mod that features a longer stainless plate and a small roller bearing. I have reloaded about 20,000 rounds without a bobble since installing it! It's about $30 too.

Loved this. Wish I had thought of this myself since I stock springs of all sizes for various projects.

good video, good thinking, i'll have to look at my RL550B. might want to consider putting a steel washer between the spring and the roller, to prevent the spring from digging into the nylon roller, gouging it out. or bevel the edge of that aluminium casting that catches the edge of the roller. or as you originally intended, a tubular spacer. looks like the spring tension is preventing the roller from rolling. which will cause the steel rod to wear a groove in it as it saws back and forth.

+bigblock chevy Hmm all very good points. I will differently remedy those issues. As far as the roller is concerned, It certainly does look like it is not rolling, I will have a closer look to see if it is rolling or not. I think a metal one would remedy that issue if it isn't rolling and maybe a drop of oil. Finding a metal one somewhere may be a little difficult? An interesting problem to try and solve, any ideas? Or maybe another spring that is long enough to create the space required with the steel washer, with only enough tension to still allow the roller to roll? Thank you very much for the good advice.

I bent the Operating Rod slightly to the RIGHT. Tension to the Right.

The plastic wheel isn't rotating anymore. A flat area will be worn out soon and you will experience problems again. Proper alignment of the rod would have solved your problem.

Very glad I found your 550 videos. Im in US and have loaded many 1000s of handgun rounds on my 550b but just now starting to load 308 & 6.5 Creedmoor rifle ammo. Great info on your videos, appreciate your effort. Also interesting to find how many shooters in other countries have access to US shooting and reloading equipment. Our media here in America would have us beieve there are no guns in other countries and all US gun owners are wierdos out to do harm to all the anti gun frauds. Thanks again, great info !!!

My pleasure to help. Yeah I have been watching with much interest on whats been happening in the US and around the world. USA is the last country in the world that has more freedom than any other. But they are putting in every resource they can to take away your rights. They know we are law abiding citizens and so are creating new laws to simply achieve their agendas. They always keep taking more: a little bit at a time until its all gone or so tightly controlled, that it is almost not worth having. They are trying to disarm as many people world-wide as they can and/or limit what guns you have for when they initiate a massive and complete take-over for absolute control. Gun control will make the take-over easier for them, this is what its all about! Kia Kaha (Stay Strong)

Did you lube the top of the wire where it slides into the hole in the top of the frame as instructed in the manual ? If the wire slides in and out freely, the wire will operate properly.

Hello, the arm needs grease on it where it pivots in the block. The block is adjustable for proper alignment with both rollers. Grease is usually the fix
@justlooking2222 Жыл бұрын
@@tomgiorgini9154 New response to a old comment. You are correct with the primer pick-up bar/slide. What I was referring to is the vertical arm with two bends on it that runs on two rollers. One roller runs the arm in and out when shell plate goes up and down, the other roller is run by the arm that pivots on top and the bottom of the arm runs the primer bar out. The top of the arm has a 90 degree bend that rides inside a hole on the primer tube block support on the reloading frame. That is where I was referring to with a tiny tiny dab of grease.

@@tomgiorgini9154 I've treated it well and in return it treats me well. Use it about every 3 months now, prices & availability of replacing supplies has caused us to travel to the range less. Only problem that needed parts was the primer cup and seating stem. It got galled due to not swaging the primer crimp on 9mm military brass. I used the Dillon swager to take care of that.
@tomgiorgini9154 Жыл бұрын
@@justlooking2222 glad you like it, I here ya about the supply's, I have to buy my 6.8 spc brass with powder, bullet and primer installed, really same price I could make it for if I could get brass at .40 a piece. I buy from red river reloading, great folks and very fast, usually shipped within 2 to 3 days of order and in my hands within a week from order

EXCELLENT idea! Mine didn't have that issue HOWEVER your fix was a great add-on. (HINT:) try to either get a remote or just cut your camera & shift to an above-sight camera angle. You won't have the wrist get in the way. - But, well done!

Do Not do this!! Adjust and Lube the top of the rod at the primer feed. If you are not sure or don't believe me. Look in your manual or call Dillon!

Rotate bracket that holds the wire to the right about 1/8 . Problem solved,instead of all that jerry rigging!

What an idiot. Spring or shim to eliminate the potential issue in the first place was a cost cutting reason.

This should be done by Dillon before each unit goes out.

Spending a few minutes learning how your machine works would have saved you much aggravation. A little practice with the camera wouldve been helpful, too.

bassman7365 seems to me if YOU knew how YOUR machine works, you would not have had to watch this video.

@@ronandt9913 That's funny 😄 You watch it also didn't you 🤣 This is a very good example of people not having a clue how maintain or adjust mechanical equipment! I have had my 550b for 20+ years and you have to clean lube and adjust it. His problem with the alignment takes about 2 seconds to fix if he would have read the manual.
