Usually, Ave Maria is a prayer to the Holy Virgin Mary. In this case, however, it is a prayer for all people, no matter what religion they belong to. When I first heard this version from Dimash and Igor, I vowed right then and there to listen to it at least once a day, as it literally PULLS us up out of our 3rd dimension and into the 4th, where our dreams and meditations lie. All I have to do is lean back in my chair, close my eyes, and let it wash over me. It was Dimash who went to Igor and asked him to compose a new version of "Ave Maria" in vocalize style, where no words are sung--an absolutely brilliant choice as it transcends any possible language misinterpretations, thus being able to reach all religions as a prayer to God/Creator. This is an original composition by Igor Krutoy (at the piano). The beginning of the piece seems to be an imitation of the sounds from Outer Space that were recorded by NASA, establishing an otherworldly atmosphere. Dimash intentionally uses only vocalization to make this a prayer/meditation for all people, regardless of their spiritual orientation. Words often divide us, but music has the power to unite. The purity of Dimash's voice, the genius of Igor Krutoy's composition, the choir, instrumentation, and staging all combine to transport the listener beyond this earthly existence into the heavenly worlds. The messa di voce on High C at the end is absolutely exquisite. It reminds me of the sound of a Tibetan singinging bowl. Alison you do a great job of appreciating Dimash. I found him on KZfaq 6 years ago and have enjoyed him everyday since then. I can listen to him over and over. His time on the Singer 2017 seemed to bring his talent into the light. He sang 7-8 songs on the Singer that are still some of my favorites but he has grown and matured so much since then.
