Your jaw may still drop still and goose bumps may be bumped again. You're on a journey like we all are. Enjoy..You cannot pick the wrong song.

You have barely even begun to scratch the surface of Dimash's talent and ability. He has performed songs in 15 languages; Kazakh, Russian, English, Mandarin Chinese, Italian, French, Spanish, German, Serbian, Turkish, Sicilian, Ukrainian, Kyrgyz, Arabic, and Japanese. Besides his native Kazakh tongue, he speaks fluent Russian, which is still an official language in most former Soviet Republics. Dimash is getting pretty good with English but is still studying it along with Mandarin, which he says is a challenging language to learn. Dimash plays six instruments; the piano, dombra, guitar, xylophone, cello, and drums. He usually performs for more than two hours during live concerts and treats his audience to an eclectic mix of styles. A good professional vocalist has a range of about 3 octaves. The production team edited and cut all of Dimash's performances down to 2 minutes and cut out his Kazakh song for no reason. In the finale, he was set to compete against 2 kids; one girl from his home country of Kazakhstan, Daneliya Tuleshova- who was 12 yrs old then, as well as a 12-year-old boy from India playing the piano who would go on to win the competition's $1 million grand prize. Even before Dimash committed to appearing on the show he had told the production team that he would not compete against children as this is considered dishonorable in his country and because he has been professionally trained for 20 years; hence it would be unfair. So when Dimash announced before the final that he was leaving the competition, the show's producers and judges showed him a lot of disrespect, especially Ru Paul. The available footage was deceptively edited to present the show's producers and judges in the best possible light. His fans in attendance got pretty upset over the treatment he received during his first major appearance in the USA. The contrast between the two songs just enhances awareness of the immense diversity across genres that Dimash is capable of ( and enjoys playing across / switching between within each performance). This switching in and out of operatic and contemporary elements is very much his signature, and is reaching a whole new audience, who wouldn't dream of attending a classical operatic performance, but are sitting up and appreciating his full rich tenor, baritone and counter-tenor ( 'Manprano'! 🤣) notes, and saying, "I didn't know I would like THIS kind of music!" In doing so, he's not only pleasing his audiences, and his own artistic curiosity, but some might say is becoming the 'voice' of preservation for an old and perhaps waning Art Form. His 'drama', brought into a modern piece in Confessa, also from his operatic and musical theatre training, is right on point. The power, even in his upper registers, that you comment on, is also something someone with intensive classical vocal schooling develops. Opera singers are trained to have their voice reach over the sounds of an orchestra and to the furthest and highest seats in large theatres - in the times before microphones were even dreamed of. You can see when he's really 'letting rip' how he volume controls when he pulls the mike far away so as not to blow out the sensitive electronics . As for Dimash being able to reach such high notes, apparently this is something to do with his vocal chords being longer than the average males. Flexibility and technique are training, but length; that's genetics - and perhaps something to do with him being also a 'bean pole' (He's 6'3" !😄) But also he had specialised vocal training throughout puberty. Perhaps a classical vocal coach can comment on this, but I heard there is some discussion now about whether,with the right training boys can actually retain their beautiful upper registers through puberty and into adulthood. { If so, wouldn't the P off all the Castrati! 😭}

It is two songs on here, the 1st is called Confessa, and he started it in Mandarin then switched to Italian...and then did part of the Diva Dance..but this was during the Singer Competition Show he was in back in 2017...which is also where he pretty literally became famous overnight after his first performance SOS..which I believe gave them over 600million views more than they normally had!🎉

DIVA DANCE! As you already stated, Diva Dance is originally a song from the classic 1997 sci-fi thriller “The Fifth Element” starring Bruce Willis and Milla Jovovich. For the scene, the song’s composer, Eric Serra, designed the piece with the intent that it would be impossible for a human to perform the high-pitch staccato sections. He had Inva Mula-Tchako, an Albanian opera lyric soprano, sing the notes individually so that they could then be arranged digitally and recorded. In the movie, this song is “performed” by an alien, Diva Plavalaguna, played by Maïwenn Le Besco. Dimash's performance of the "Diva Dance" from his Bastau concert is even more impressive. Dimash has so many sides to him. You should check out Be With Me--not because it showcases his vast range but instead it has a decidedly Michael Jackson influence that displays his sense of humor and has a rap section in his own language in it. Dimash does swimming (which helps his incredible lung power) and did some martial arts which he shows off in this video. It is not a live performance but a fun video that he did.

Dimash realizó estudios formales de música desde los cinco años de edad. Por supuesto tiene toda la técnica operística, pero se especializó en música contemporánea. Hizo el doctorado, y le pedían que se quedara frente a la Escuela de ópera, cosa que él declinó, para dedicarse a lo que hace. I'm not sure if you knew but, they did make the Diva Dance to be "humanly impossible" as it was partially done by an opera singer and the rest was made with computers...but this one is nothing compared to when Dimash did the entire song at the end of his Bastau concert!!!

It hard to place Dimash in one genre. He has been training since was 5 his which here in 23 later years. He also holds a Master in Operic and is currently working on his PhD in Musicology.

i second Geta's suggestion to listen to the Drunken Concubine. he sings a duet with Li Yugang who is a very famous performer in the Chinese Opera, he specializes in nandan, a style in which a male singer takes on the female soprano's role. not only do they have to perfect their voices but they also have to perfect walking/dancing/movie like a woman. Li's videos where he is in costume are breathtaking

His best version of the Diva Dance is Bastau. This is great but the Bastau version was even better.
