He was age 22 in this video. This is part of the Chinese sing off he participated in as a wildcard. Wildcard because he is Kazak not Chinese and only Chinese could win first place in I Am Singer. So, this is the very beginning of him being exposed to the world and not just Kazakhstan, Russia and Eukraine areas. He is current 27 and his vocal growth since this video is so phenomenal, I can hardly believe it and I have been listening to him for four+ years. Here, He only had a very small handfull of conversational English words. "Thank you very much" "I love you", things of that nature. Now he is beginning to be able to converse in English. He is still not completely sure how to place words as most foreign languages use word placement opposite from us and he is still learning all of that but can carry on a conversation in English. He is highly well read, highly educated as he is working on his Doctorate, very kind and honors others. He is a highly giving man though he will never speak of it, others have leaked out stories about him though, and his philanthropy is highly honorable.

На счёт английского языка. В 2017 году Димаш не знал английского , кроме выражения : меня зовут Димаш. Об этом он сам рассказывал на шоу Shine super brother2 (2021 год). Все песни учил исключительно на слух.. да, он удивительный

This was one year after the “Singer 2017” Competition. Dimash was asked to come back as a guest singer. He sang this song to say thank you to all his Chinese fans. At the end he says I love you in English Chinese and Kazakh. Lionel Richie claimed copy rights, and Dimash was forbidden to sing it ever again. May I suggest that you listen to Dimash’s rendition of “Show must go on” by Queen. Happy listening!

Нельзя требовать от Димаша еще и идеальное знание английского языка, учитывая то, что в его стране английский даже не является вторым языком, и внутри страны почти не практикуется. Thank you for a sincere reaction! I love this performance, so heartfelt. Dimash made his own version as usual - a new original like you said. He kept the haunting feel of the original, even enriched it by adding Kazakh flute sybyzky. But he also gave the song more passion. It is not just melancholic longing but there is also something desperate - especially in those Eastern melismas. So passionate! The climax of the song, that long high note, is just sublime. Dimash and his arranger Erlan Bachurin beautifully brought their own cultural heritage to the song: that Kazakh flute, melismas and a throat singing in the backround (did you noticed that, btw?).

He makes any cover sound better than the original. This was in 2018. He appeared as a guest artist a year after he performed in the same 2017 Singer competition in China. That one is not "better" than the original per se, however it is different in the most amazing way too❗ Keep this up guys and some time indulge yourselves in his non English songs.
