Perfect. I will add, from Enrico Caruso, "The voice is the only instrument that you build and play at the same time." How lucky we are that Dimash lets us hear him play his instrument while he's still building it.

We sat through practically the whole of the four hour jazz festival for this, all of us in different countries of the world, talking and laughing and then finally crying and running for the tissues. Someone described the feeling of listening to this as being broken down, cleansed and rebuilt better than before. I could only agree with her.

This is the most beautiful performance I’ve ever seen. First song he sang in Japanese. His breath control is like no other. You can really see and hear it in this performance. I knew you would be so blown away by that. Thanks for another wonderful reaction to our beloved Dimash. Enjoying the vlogs you and Lucas are doing. You are my favorite reactor. Have a blessed day. That Power has been Only given to him.

His name means Gift from God and I truly believe it. I have been playing and listening to music for over 50 years and he is truly special. I feel blessed every time he sings. 💖🔥🙏🏻

When he originally performed this song for the first time on The Singer (2017), it was his first time singing a song in Chinese on stage. He learned it in a week phonetically and wanted to perform it as his way of showing his appreciation to the audience at the show -- and he also won awards in China that same year for his performances of the song. NOW -- one thing I love about this version is that he's doing the Japanese version [lyrics]... That shows how conscious and attentive he is towards his audience by performing a song he has now done so many times, but this time in their official language [Tokyo Jazz Festival naturally being in Japan] for them to enjoy

This is also known as, Autumn Strong. He sang it on The Singer 2017. His first time performing a Chinese song. The audience was brought to tears. It was written by a Japanese artist to honor a Chinese born Japanese actress. In this new version he sings it in Japanese. Truly beautiful

Dimash sings this in Japanese to pay tribute to the song which was written in Japanese originally and the fact that he's at the Tokyo Jazz Festival. This is the same as "Autumn Strong" which he performed in Chinese previously on the Chinese Show "Singer" I believe. His performance was a complete body experience to say the least but this version is the best one yet!!!!

His first Japanese song and has just touched my soul! 💜💜 You said he throws in those tiny other genre moments....those are to make you realize you can never successfully predict his songs!!"😂😂 From the very first listen this song moved itself all the way up to within my top three I can't stop listening to it ! 💙🤗💙. He has said his plans when he is done with being on the stage is to be a vocal teacher to children! One reason he has continued his formal education earning 2 master degrees and now working on his PHD, so he can then go to into a teaching profession....he is a man who has a plan!! 💜💜💜💜

This exquisite performance moved me to tears. Your reaction to it was amazing (though I was hoping Lucas would be on this reaction too--maybe you'll do it again with Lucas?!?). Thank you for you genuine appreciation of Dimash's motivation to keep honing his craft. I think it is at least in part motivated by his genuine love for music. It seems to me that he believes the music itself is worth the best he has to give it. He said in a livestream on his 26th birthday that music is its own language as complex and rich as mathematics; a lifetime of study is not enough to understand it, and "if you open my head you will find music; if you open my heart you will find music." He also is a self-confessed perfectionist. How blessed are we to hear the magnificent results of his perfectionism!

So exquisite, delicate and strong performance at the same time. I can’t stop listening it 😍 One of Dimash’s most emotional and heartfelt songs, it could bring you to tears easily. And his style of clothes and performance for TJF is so very minimalistic, it suits him a lot! The lyrics is also very beautiful, of course (special thanks to Goro Matsui). I suppose this is the first song of Dimash in Japanese, isn’t it? Tokyo Jazz Festival was great, but Dimash was the most awaited one there, the chat during on-line translation was completely filled up with Dears 🤣 Thank you for your work, Josh!

Just want to introduce myself-- I have followed Dimash since 2018 because I was fascinated by his ability to sang many genres in one song. He has many voices depending on whether he sang classical, folk, patriotic, etc. I have opportunity to attend concerts of Shirley Bassey , Tom Jone, Johnny Mathis, Whitney Houseton, MJ,Spanish singer Julio Iglesias, Spanish tenor Jose Carreras ( the three tenors), Beyoncé and Celine Dion, -- just names a few. Dimash always love music since he was very young according to his grandmother. Do you know that he was raised up by his grandparents because according to older tradition the first born son will be “ giving back the son” to paternal grandparents. They are well educated. Grandfather “ papa” was agriculture engineer and grandmother “ mama” was a the teacher in Maths and geography. They lived in another city and came to loook after him . Dimash slept with them for 10 years. Normally the parents introduced the son to the world but in Dimash case he introduced his parents and the whole family to the world. I admire his philosophy of life, his humility and respect for others. You should watch various interviews he gave . Normally he doesn’t like given interviews but unavoidable. I like your comments on all the things you mentioned because the “ vocal couch “ doesn’t say all important things except that movement helps one to produce the pitch ,etc. That’s the US “ vocal couch” I am talking about but EU couch are different at least they admitted that they are not able to do what Dimash had done, even the soprano high pitch. Appreciate your details and thank you 😊

Once again, there is no words to describe such experience. His voice is like an arrow directly targeting our soul. I often say it, but for me, his most incredible talent is his ability to share emotions and to send me in another dimension, where I forget the world. And I also love how he moves, like drawing his voice with his arms, a so, so, so beautiful performance.

Respect. For Dimash’ commitment to his art, and your sincerity as a reactor. I enjoy your very informative and insightful reactions as a singer who knows how difficult it is to do all the things Dimash does. And this Japanese version of my favourite Dimash song “Autumn Strong”, is even more stunningly beautiful - his interpretation tugs at the heart and soul. I could not have imagined that Dimash could have surpassed his own work. But I shouldn’t be surprised anymore because he has done it over and over again with later interpretations of his own songs, such as Love is Like a Dream, Stranger, and even Screaming. Ikanaide is my new favourite Dimash song, For now, I guess until his next masterpiece. And I love his low register humming at the end, and the respectful Asian bow. Paying his respects to the composer and lyricist, it seems. Bravo Dimash.

This was one of my favourites when he sang it in Chinese but this Japanese version is the most beautiful thing I have ever heard. His emotions just standing there poured out of the screen and all you want to do is hold him in your arms to make his pain and anguish go away. Goodness no other singer can make you feel that way 😭💖💖💖

Dimash honors the composer and original singer of this song, the legendary Koji Tamaki. By singing the first 1/2 of the song in the Koji Tamaki style with all the unique inflections, phrasing, and emotional cries. I love Koji Tamaki's version and Dimash's version quickly brought on the tears. If you get the chance, please listen to Koji Tamaki "Ikanaide" in Hong Kong.

I respect the way that he has been pulling back on the theatrics and exploring the subtleties more recently. I know people go mad for the high notes, but that's a party trick compared to the feelings he has been able to show in the more recent pieces he has performed. Love your reactions by the way, not as theatrical and over the top as many and your opinions feel genuine.

Agree! I think (as many others too) that Dimash has matured as a person and artist. That subtle mastery is so wonderful, the same can be seen with his 'Amanat' performance. Dimash has always conveyed his emotions well, but I feel like he has become more open somehow, to give even more what he truly feels, more vulnerably and spontaneously. He seems to have a whole new confidence on stage. Dimash obviously didn't rest on his laurels during the pandemic. His performance skills overall have improved. 🤯

I have listened to this masterpiece so many times and I am always struck by the note at 1:56-9 where he somehow turns the note around in his throat, for lack of better explanation,to an ahhhhhh. His technique blows my mind. Dimash is performing on Shine Super Brothers show in China, where he sang the new version of Stranger. During an interview he said we “haven’t seen anything yet. This is just the beginning. I haven’t started to show myself yet”.

There are no words to describe this performance. Thank you so much for all the extra information you provide. For me too, his breathy notes are even better than his high notes. This song made me feel as if I was floating with the rise and fall of gentle waves, bit like Ave Maria does. He does it so beautifully and gently it is beyond perfection. I really enjoy your enthusiasm for Dimash.
