I’ve been waiting for you to hear this. It is one my top favourites. The song is about a father saying goodbye to his daughter who is going to live with her new in-law family and won’t have contact for a long time. He wonders how her new life will be. Dimash asked his professor if he could sing this when he was at college but the prof said he wasn’t old enough to understand the meaning. But Dimash prepared the song and sung it to Kenes and he allowed him to sing it. Now, several years later, we hear one of the top performances ever, imo. Sheer beauty. Thank you.

Sariev wrote the poem Qaraǵym-aı/ Apple of My Eye (*Term in a parent-child relationship, here, father-daughter*) for his daughter, who got married and left the house and the village. He wondered what her life would be like and wished her a life full of love. Life is short and without love it would be sad and empty. Kenes Duisekeev, the composer of this beautiful tune, was Dimash's teacher and mentor. He died of Covid-19 in 2020. The song itself was composed by Kenes Duisekeev and lyrics written by the poet Shomishpay Sariev. Hi, one of the best thing Dimash has, is his skills to change his different vocal registers depending on the song and emotion he needs to convey. It's kind of like putting his great vocal technique at the service of the interpretation. The teacher/ mentor who passed was the composer. He’d written the song a few years prior, when his daughter was getting married. The lyrics were written by someone whose sister passed away before she got married. Dimash begged his teacher to allow him to sing it at its premiere. The composer hesitated, saying how could you, a young man, understand and express the feelings of a father letting his daughter go into the care of another man? Still, he did. After the performance, he thanked Dimash and congratulated him.
