Dimash Qudaibergen is one of the most gifted singers ever to have lived. He is trained in the classical Bel Canto tradition. He is also steeped in the traditional music of his home country of Kazakhstan.
His is a global icon with a world-wide following of devoted fans, called Dimash Dears.
In this video he demonstrates his virtuosity in singing but only on the old Kazakh instrument the kobyz. It is truly amazing to witness.

"I'm not a dombra man."🤔 He is an excellent dombra man. But he will never say that. We had so many opportunities to enjoy his dombra playing. "Rivers of love": kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qMmbZdmSy5eskX0.html Beautiful❣️ Playing the dombra is a family tradition, from Dimash's grandfather to his younger brother. You can find wonderful videos from concerts where Dimash plays the dombra. Dear William, thank you for reaction. I admire your unobtrusiveness with all your professional experience and talent. 🍀

The dombra is the national instrument of Kazakhstan. My understanding is that ALL children in Kazakhstan learn to play the dombra in school, which I think is a brilliant idea. Learning to read music and being able to translate it into sound via an instrument is a phenomenal skill. Unfortunately, it's something that has been deemed unimportant in the US. Music was a required subject when I was in school, but is no longer.

There is footage of Dimash, his father and a friend playing dombra together. They only have two dombra between them and they are reaching across each other, one playing the left hand and another playing the right hand and switching dombras. It’s fun. But definitely watch River of Love, it is beautiful. He can also play piano, guitar, xylophone, drums and others.

Most people don't realise the ammount of training that goes into making an opera singer, which is his basic training. To be able to control his breath and to stay on stage singing live for hours is something we are not used to with a popular singer as they do not have this training . Dimash was offered a place in an opera company, but he turned it down as he wanted to sing to a broader audience, thank goodness !! Add his stage presence and his rapport with his audience and you have the star we see before us . He's soooo cute too !!!

His absolute powerful and unshakable presence on stage, compared by some to a god of music, sometimes to a prince or king, the energy he absorbs from the Universe, then how he anchors himself to the Earth, his connection with the Divinity, all at a place, it gives him the strength and confidence to "command the audience, to order the orchestra, to order the song", so that everything comes out the way he wants and how Dimash feels, that is unique. All these qualities are only at Dimash, absolutely. The goosebumps and hypnosis induced by Dimash are the characteristics of his concerts and appearance on stage, which are shaped by his endless beauty, sometimes translucent, sometimes sensual, sometimes angelic !!! Dimash is storm, thunder, lightning, sun, rain, smile, but also love and last but not least he is our hope and our daily light, he is our spiritual food when you put your head on the pillow and start dreaming like tomorrow it's a day… !!!!! Dimash has God's kiss on his heart!!!!

Thank you! I love 'halfway between Heaven and Earth' :) That is where Dimash's vocals live! William, could you explain the small hollow in his neck at 2:55? A reactor has said that they had never seen that before and that was some sort of 'secret weapon' in Dimash's vocal arsenal! What is happening when he goes very high? :) As to the Dombra and the Kobyz, I am amazed at what comes from 2 stringed instruments! Dimash is very good and Dimash's Dad is expert at playing the Dombra. The Kobyz has it's strings far above the instrument and it is so very interesting to see how they are manipulated with the fingers to make amazing sound.

He was fibbing....he is a master dombra player and has performed on stage with his countrymen. He is modest yet proud, shy yet funny, simple yet sophisticated.Take that Borat! I wonder whether you could comment on autotuning. I know nothing about it except it's a modern technological tool for singers to stay on pitch, and it was said of Freddie Mercury that his voice was exceptional without autotuning (and despite chain smoking, I might add). There is a reactor who speaks knowledgeably on autotuning and claims that even Dimash uses it. This shocked me a bit because I consider Dimash to be a perfectionist and a purist. Especially, in a minor performance in terms of venue and stage, he sounds perfect....with or without autotuning? You may know that "his calling card" is a song written in the late 70s for Starmania (a French/Canadian rock opera). The original was sung beautifully by Daniel Balavoine, quite the darling of the French both as a singer and an activist who confronted Mitterand at the time. He died tragically at 33. Much later Gregory Lemarchal sang it and made it famous again. It was around then that the teenage Dimash must have taken note of it as he veered toward pop, because Gregory also tragically died in 2007 of cystic fibrosis at age 23. Apart from the central theme of nascent environmental and political polarities of these times and in the wake of Bohemian Rhapsody, Dimash captures perfectly the multifaceted drama encapsulated in this song. Dimash took SOS to a different level altogether. Although the previous singers had beautiful voices they clearly lacked the training to sustain them at Dimash's level. I discovered recently (through the Spanish version of this video) that he had sung it as early as 2012 - and I dare say with much better French diction than at the Singer contest in 2017 - but I understand he had to prepare literally overnight (he improved again in later performances). Similarly, Ikanaide, which has been commented by Japanese personalities/reactors say unanimously how perfectly he sings in Japanese capturing the essence of this song better than a Japanese could! Much enjoy your analyses!

Thank you William it is always nice to have your professional look and valuation since everything is been said already I give a fairy tale "Once upon a time in Aktobe was a little boy Dinmuchammed Qudaibergen age 5 his grandmother Miua (teacher biology and geography)toke "Dika-little camel to music school Aktobe. Grandma teached Dimash the old stories of Kazakh and epic poems As the years passed he sang very well and became known and loved in his country. 2014 he graduated in Aktobe Zhubanov university, went to Astana National University his Grandparents moved with him. As the years passed he became a singing sensation as his popularity grew in china he needed bodyguards. He endears his fans and his music far and wide reaches the heart of all ages men and woman. Little camel is matured into this beautiful creature of light spreading his message of peace and tolerance around the globe Kind regards William from the netherlands 🇳🇱🌷🌷

Yes Dimash is amazing we cant say it enough. And he intends to revitalize those old kasakh instruments in the modern music. In pop music like at the end of Zhalyn m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/gJl6lbKVmKfFYWw.html&pp=ygUNemhhbHluIGRpbWFzaA%3D%3D Or in rock music like at the beginning of the super brothers cover of we will rock you. m.kzfaq.info/get/bejne/qtdgnJhnzdunZKs.html

@@BangkokVoiceCoach Perhaps the records are not as we wish them to be, but we know of many great singers of the past hundred years. Had one been as talented as Dimash, the records would have let us know in one way or another.
