Dimash's press conference at the Slavic Bazaar
Question: In 1995 you became the Slavic Bazaar Grand Prix owner. How did it change your life?
Dimash (corrected): in 2005.
Host: Yes, in 2005. I'm too excited.
D: Thank you very much for your question. Dear friends, I am very glad to be here. And I thank the organizers for the invitation. I am very grateful to the Slavic Bazaar for the " life ticket ".
Journalist: What does cooperation with Igor Krutoy mean to you?
D: I have worked with many famous composers from Europe, America, China. Some people think we have contractual obligations with IgorYakovlevich (Krutoy). But this is not like this, we work simply on "trust". I think that if someone else performed Krutoy's songs, they would also become hits. There are very few such composers like him nowadays. There used to be a real art in show business. And now show business is losing this component. Songs are becoming much simpler and performers are not striving for highly intellectual music. In this regard, I want to thank Igor Yakovlevich for being devoted to his work, for trying to write worthy things and I try to perform them with dignity.
- When did you have your last concert in Kazakhstan?
- It was two years ago ... I know that my fans are tired of waiting for my concerts, songs, and I'm also waiting for the time when it will be possible to perform again ...
Journalist: Aren't you tired of the crowds of fans that accompany you everywhere?
Dimash: It seems to me that this is great happiness. I am grateful to Allah for the opportunity to be famous. I don’t get tired of it. No way. I am grateful for every day that I share with my fans. Sometimes I am tired, don’t sleep enough, but I feel energized (recharged) meeting my audience. That is great happiness.
Journalist:
Continuing the question. How come you have so many fans? I watched at the airport, that despite restrictions, people came from different countries to see you ...
Dimash: I don't know either... Sometimes I look in the mirror and ask myself: how did it happen that I have such an army of fans? They just probably like my music ...
Journalist: What will you pay attention to as a jury member?
D: As a patriot, I will root for the Kazakhstan representative. It would not be true to say if I won’t. But I'm not going to do any favours to anyone. In my life, I have participated in some international contests. I know that Slavic Bazaar is a platform where borders, nationalities are erased, and I’m ready to take responsibility. The Grand Prix is not the most important thing in life. The main thing is that during the festival a singer might be seen and fallen in love with millions. First of all, I will pay attention to how the contestants will cope with the selected song. It happens sometimes that an artist takes a difficult song, trying to impress everyone, but is not able to scope it. I think it's better to opt for a simpler song and show it with the best side. First of all, I will pay attention to performing skills, then to acting.
W: How did Batyrkhan Shukenov’s art influence on you? Is that supposed to be spiritual relations with him?
D. The connection is probably is that I am now working with the same composers who used to work with Batyrkhan - yeah ... with Kuat Shildebaev and Renat Gaissin ... I want to share my feelings: I miss Batyrkhan very much - yeah ... We grew up with his music. He was an incredibly humble man. He is our teacher. It is like an encyclopedia for us. Renat Gaissin is a composer who worked with Batyrkhan, and composer Kuat Shildebaev wrote Otan Ana hit.
G. Can you support your fans in some way who did not return tickets for your concerts when they had been cancelled.
Dimash: Let me get up and bow to all my listeners! For an artist, this is great happiness! If I could cry, I would cry.
Host: Can you cry?
Dimash: Kazakhs - men don't cry.
(Laughter, applause).
Dimash: I am very grateful to everyone who did not return tickets. It is a great happiness to have such fans. Huge.I understand one thing clearly: I am a very happy person. There are about seven billion people in the world. And everyone wants to be noted, to be known. Even if you do not admit it, but it is like this ... Therefore, I am happy that Allah made my dreams come true. Sometimes I ask my friends if this really happened to me.
(About “Notre Dame de Paris” musical)Journalist: Which role from the "Notre Dame de Paris" musical would you like to play?
Dimash: Probably the role of Phoebus or Clopin ... The role of Phoebus would more preferable because girls love him (laughter in the audience). And the role of Clopin suits me vocally ... In 1999, when the musical came out and hit the world, I had it on cassette tapes. At the age of five, I learned all the songs of this musical. You can say this musical made me a musician ...
