My son girl fiend told that our printers are for make people happy. Every 2-3 months we print : whistles for teachers and students 70, maze 3O, small flatt utility knife 40, smatphone stands, maze treasure etc. Somy many smiles on they faces 😀

Plus when doing a timelapse the print head would be out of the way

@John Doe the light is directly above the extruder so a shadow is cast directly down over the part. If you think there's nothing wrong with that then you're a clown.

​@@SkonkBot I agree. The reason I want a light isn't for pointless time-lapse videos. I want to clearly see the interface at the nozzle and the print on my printer camera. This is just going to cause the camera to adjust its automatic exposure for bright light and make the area I actually want to see darker on the video. If all you want is well-lit time-lapse footage then this fits the bill. Frankly I am more interested in practical mods that make my prints better or allow me to detect failures earlier.

Nice add on, Its well needed. I went with the Creality Ender 3 S1 Pro because it already came preinstalled with one.

@@sail4life several things are indeed, tho the s1 pro definitely falls in the "good enough stock"category for those who don't like to tinker as much. @keknittle seemed to imply they "just"use the stock one (which is what my earlier comment was aimed at)

It's actually illegal to mount a 3D-printed part to a Prusa unless it is printed in black or Prusa orange.

Now the printer will see what it is printing, otherwise in the dark it always turns out not what it wanted to print. When working at night, the printer will not be so afraid to be alone in a dark workshop.

The Elegoo Neptune has a built in light that is so damn handy. Highly recommend. It's a solid and very user friendly machine especially for beginners.

I don't know why do he need them in this case. Screws perfectly works either with pla or petg directly. Just do like 2.7mm for m3. And in critical applications you don't need to use Loctite either

Honestly, I was kind of surprised. I thought that you would mount the switch so that you could add a few *G0* gcode commands at the start/end of every job to turn it on/off.

Awesome! There is just one thing. The prusa tends to vibrate a lot while printing. This LED strip brackets are prone to vibrate along with it.

This also turned out to be a review of the battery powered screwdriver. I always suspected those things were gutless. It could barely overcome the head of the screws contacting the relief they should sit in. It's not like the brass insert was offering any resistance.

Get a good one. I have a Li-Ion powered Bosch screwdriver, that I got 15 years ago to assemble a bunch of IKEA kitchen cabinets. Only slightly larger than this one but hasn't failed a single job yet.

I already have my lights controllable from the gpio pins of the pi... Via a custom gcode command i set up. :). Turning em on can even be done from my phones pi camera feed screen on my octopi controller software

Oh i thought you were mounting the switch to the top. Thatd be a great idea too, to turn the light/the printer off by having it move all the way to the top in the end

@@dededed1 Ah, no problem! :D Brass inserts are great. I think industrially they use sonic welding to insert them, but they are a really great addition to 3d prints that are practical and such. :D And happy making!

Man that textured plate makes the print surfaces look so bad on camera. I’ve been thinking about getting one and abandoning all my glass plates. Is it just the camera making it look like that?
