@@lamenter7612 Well don't know if the game's cannon is very relevant, but in the Warhammer Dark Crusade T'au ending, it's mentioned that if the Tau, unhappy with the fact some of their human subjects defected to the side of the Imperium during the whole hodgepodge that was the crusade that happened on the planet of Chronus - they start treating them as second class citizens whose population was dwindling to rapidly year after year. The implication was that sterilization was behind. Though even that was told more as a rumour than a fact.

It's not Canon, only because GW decided the Imperium ending was Canon, not because it wasn't something the Tau wouldn't do.

The book Farsight: Empire of Lies. Tells of him fighting the Orks. He even fought them in space while in a Crisis suit. Destroyed a few of their Roks if im not mistaken. Its also the book where he discovers the Dawn Blade. Its the second book in a two book series though. Recommend reading both.

@@chaoslordnicky9723 not sure. It’s never said aloud in the book but it is strange that Farsight was able to fly to Rok to Rok so fast in space. Meanwhile the Ork warboss is monitoring him along with his cohorts. They never say it or explain how but I think it’s implied som Orky mumbo jumbo is afoot. It also may help that all these Orks actually know Farsight from how he kicked their asses earlier.

The Votann, are actually hyper advanced AIs that act as the Kin's gods and supercomputers. If the Imperium found out what the Votann actually were instead of believing them to just be STCs (which they also are), they would launch a crusade as they realized the Votann are an AI Empire.

No, ethereal aren't like a tyranid hive mind, at best it's a limited influence, as can be seen by the fact the farsight enclaves literally get support from some tau from the main empire, sending resources and blueprints from the main tau empire, killing the ethereal would only be able to make the ethereals stay off the battlefield which would keep more of them alive overall

And the Farsight Enclaves could even try that tactic in order to "free the oppressed Tau from their controllers". … But it's not going to happen in the lore, of course. But nice happy non grimdark scenario; Farsight and Gulliman reach a peace treaty, and with the clandestine help of Ultramar, Farsight secretly liberates the rest of Tau society and they become "trusted Xenos" to the Imperium. And then the Eldar join the team and Yada Yada Yada the good guys win and "that all wraps it up" - GW.

@casbott imperial assassins are helped by the fact they pretty much don't exist in any story they aren't supposed to win, to show this off, the anti psyker assassin was once used against the tau, and was apparently able to make himself invisible by just turning his blank powers, so despite the fact he didn't try to hide from the faction with advanced tech to supplement there eyes he was able to just walk up to an ethereal and kill everything in the room just by standing there, naturally this never happened again because it was dumb, in the end the tau have the tech and organization best suited to make the assassins ineffective, with a special focus on if the imperium focused on killing the ethereal they'd stay on the backlines, making sure that anything except a calidus assassin has no chance of success

To be fair, it does fly in the face of Warhammer as a whole. The entire point is that there are no good factions. There are a few bright spots that bring a little bit of hope, but ultimately, everything is a little bit evil. Even in lore, it makes sense that the bright eyed new empire on the galactic stage would eventually be corrupted by the awful place they live in. Humanity is only the way it is because it's necessary for their survival. Eventually, the Tau would have to cave in and accept that their ideals don't work in the galaxy they live in.

Um no. They were implying something shady was happening in the Tau Empire since day 1 with the Ethereals and 'pheromones' being mentioned in their first codex. But since a lot of players are dumber than a sack of hammers when it comes to picking up subtle and thought they were totally the good guys, GW ramped up the evil and showed how easily the ethereal rule can be exploited to do bad things.

@@Troupe_Master Except no. Heresy leads to demons coming out of your walls and murder fucking you. Everyone else is only out for their own gain. Humanity has to be xenophobic and have something to believe in so that they all don't get 1. Killed, enslaved, or worse by the other races. 2. Killed, enslaved, or worse by Chaos. 40k is a horrible universe that requires you to do horrible things in order to survive.

Far as I know, Farsight Enclaves are still good guys. Albeit left wanting for luxuries.
