Hi guys! Today I am finally tackling my dining room makeover using thrifted home decor. That pendant light is frustrating, but it shouldn’t hold me back from still trying to make the space into a place I love. If you do a swag light, you can leave the existing hardwiring where it is, install a hook closer to your table and swag a light fixture over to center over it 😄

This is definitely an option, but I have to replace the chain. This one is hanging by a thread 😅😂😂

All you have to do is find the center where you want the light and install a hook with a hood anchor. Then bring the light over. You can change out the fixture if you don’t like it. Cheaper than hiring an electrician. They have extra chain at hardware stores.

I really like how you give encouragement to your viewer. Learning to live with one’s limits (financially) is really talked about or even encouraged in today’s society. Increased debt load will strangle your creativity and self worth. Thank you for encouraging financial responsibility. ❤

I would just swap out the hanging light for a flush mount light, put the table where you want it and add a hanging plug in light over where the table is appropriately located, or dispense with the hanging light idea all together and simply style the table with candles or some battery operated LED lights. I'm enjoying your videos because I really like how your make over projects turn out. Thanks for posting!

I think your shelf styling looks great. Have you ever seen the ways people hang a new fixture in the existing place, but do it on a chain and then hang it over where they want it to be? It’s a good temporary fix until you get it done professionally.

Don't worry about light over table just put and use some beautiful candles. About anyone would just change the light for you and put up a flush mount. Hope this may help love your videos.

Good advice on moving forward even if a space isn’t perfect! Isn’t it ridiculous how one little quirk in a space can be so paralyzing? You have such a knack for shelf styling and I believe you are your worst critic! Lol The room looks amazing and the rug pulls it all together! Enjoy your new space! 😊

You might be able to put a hook in the ceiling and drape the light over some. At least it would be in the right place. I love the dining room. It turned out great. I have a whole lot of built in shelves in my living room around my tv. I change them all the time. So if I don’t really like what I have styled. I just change it up a few months later with whatever I have to put on them.

If you change the light to one with a chain you can swag it over to where you would like it to hang. That would probably save a lot of cost and effort especially if you can thrift a new one.

Hi Chelsea 👋 Congrats on 12k ❤ the dining room looks so nice, love those chairs ! I had a similar issue in my hallway & i bought one of those clip on rattan pendants from Ikea it was pretty inexpensive & i turned out absolutely loving it.

🇬🇧 Don’t know how much it costs in America but it’s fairly simple and inexpensive in the UK to move a light fitting and so worth it. The room looks lovely, so welcoming.

Thank you so much! The other part of the issue that I didn’t mention in the video is that there are 3 different lighting styles in our ceiling in this room. 🤦🏻‍♀️ I’d like them all to be more cohesive so it’s probably at least 2 projects. I do hope it’s not super expensive like you said though!

Thank you! That is a consideration. We have another light in the kitchen that’s flush mount, but then there is also recessed. So right now we have 3 different lighting styles in one space 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️
