Dinky vs Corgi restoration. Austin London Taxi. The Beatles Stickers. Die-cast model.

Today I am renewing two London taxis. The main character of the film is Dinky's Austin taxi produced in 1973. For comparison, I also show the restoration of a taxi of the same model from the Corgi company produced in 1977. Both models are black, classic for this type of taxi. The Corgi model is on a scale of 1 to 36 and is slightly larger than the Dinky model. The Dinky model door had broken upper hinge pins. I made new ones from 1.6 mm thick steel wire. Both cars needed thorough cleaning and painting. In the Dinky taxi, I also replaced the glass, which was cracked, with a glass made by vacuum thermoforming. To make both models more attractive, I also made decals related to The Beatles. Corgi released a whole batch of cars with various decals related to this team. I also show what the original boxes for these taxis looked like. My boxes are made of 250 gram cardboard and printed in a digital printing house. Thank you for watching the movie, I publish videos with the repair of cars on Tuesdays and Saturdays. You can turn on and off the subtitles in your language in the video.

I would usually prefer the older model but, in this case, I think the slightly newer, Corgi version looks more like the real thing, especially the front end. Overseas viewers may not know that, despite often being referred-to as "London Taxis", these FX4s could be found in virtually every town and city across the UK. They can still be seen today in many places.

Great restoration on the two taxis. I'm old enough to remember Abbey Lane and the Beatles, the taxis are really associated with the Beatles.

This illustrates how Corgi were so much better models than Dinky. Not as good replicas as Norev, but at least it’s metal! Spot On still have the edge for me though.

I recall (as a kid) that either Corgi or Dinky sold a roll of number plate ("license plate") stickers - with some other stuff like tax disks and such. I used to methodically put them on all of my toys...and the lack of them is really jarring! Especially the rear plate on the Taxi models - which just look *wrong* with a big black rectangle there! Otherwise, it's quite interesting to see the two toy maker's take on what (I presume) is the exact same vehicle. They are *FAR* from identical...which is interesting.

Я использую гибкий вал для Дремеля. Не надо держать тяжёлый Дремель. Вал был в наборе к инструменту.В него тоже можно вставлять разные насадки для полировки, резки, шлифования.

Remember to remove the yellowing when you restore die-cast cars

center the shots and zoom out a little. this would make your shots a little more watchable. taking apart something then turning the parts over and over doesn't help either.
