When you stroke down a bird's back or under its wings you trigger (sexual) hormone release. If he's already bonded or tending to young he may be confused and get aggressive. When you see his eyes (pupils) 'blaze' like they are doing, it's usually a sign of stress and possible aggression. I'd give him some extra 'space'.Some birds will start feather pulling or other stress related habits when humans trigger these hormone releases.
