I prefer the EDP but you are spot on with the Bergamot difference between the EDT and EDP! Most ppl really do a bad job summing up the difference. The Lavender and Ambroxan in the EDP make the scent a little denser and imo a little more mature but also (as a negative imo) since it lacks the citrus / airy feel that the EDT gives, it isn't quite as great in really hot weather although I still wear it when I know I'll be moving around a lot or will have a nice breeze that carries it, the EDP is really dense with that Lavender / Ambroxan and it can choke ppl out when there isn't ventilation. The EDT I feel is actually quite a bit better for just being out in hotter weather especially if it's humid which I don't think ppl really appreciate that aspect of the EDT enough. Yes I wear the EDP in humid weather sometimes and it's just a horrible mistake because that cloud of lavender and musk mixed with humidity (if no breeze is going) just lingers...and lingers and omg you will be sick and sneeze and ppl will be a little annoyed and some will get headaches and everything. EDT and the Citrusy Bergamot and less dense scent is just easier to smell when it's humid or when you will be a little more sweaty or when it's just not a lot of ventilation. I like the EDP more but I only have a 100mil of it, the EDT is straight up easier to wear so I bought the 200mil of it because it's just a little more versatile than the EDP. Most ppl really don't have a good summary of the EDP, ppl say often that it isn't as loud and I'm like "what? do you define as loud?" cause it is loud af with how dense it is, like the EDP is Mature and Dense, it doesn't sparkle with Citrus notes, it projects Lavender and Ambroxan with hints of pepper, the EDT is more airy compared to the EDP it has more Citrus for sure and the pepper in the EDT is a little more apparent whereas in the EDP it's kind of a back note that adds spice to that thick lavender/ambroxan cloud. EDT is just more versatile in warmer weather but I am pretty sure once fall hits we will see how much ppl prefer the EDP because it will do tremendous in that sort of element and I already know when Fall comes EDP will be the workhorse that EDT is in Summer

Sold on my EDP when I realised I will always be reaching for the EDT. The freshness of EDT is what I like. The addition of vanilla and star anise in the EDP doesn’t work for me, I don’t buy into the fuller and rounder argument. I may give it another shot in winter time.

I'm on my 4th bottle of the EDT and I've been wearing it since it debuted 3 years ago. Then whenever the EDP came out earlier this year I ran out and got it as well. The differences between the 2 are the same as Bleu de Chanel EDT and EDP. EDT is lighter, brighter and airy, while EDP is darker, denser, and sweeter. I love both equally and like to layer them sometimes and it really increases the performance. Also there is something about Sauvage and in particular the EDP version that reminds me of the old school Drakkar Noir that I had when I was a kid in the 90's. I really love it.

I love how you articulated the differences and why you prefer the original. I couldn't agree more with everything you said. I prefer the original because the scent of Sauvage itself is a freshy. That's what it's SUPPOSED to be. So I think that taking out the bergamot which gave it the bright, crisp opening was a bad move. It stole the freshness from the "beast of the freshies." I'm happy with the original. It's simple and not overly inspired but it just does its job so well. Another great video, Daver! Thanks!

Spot on! I 100% agree with Daver. I like the EDT more than EDP due to the opening. The EDP substitutes half of the bright Bergamot with star anise and a little nutmeg. The dry down has a hint of vanilla in my opinion. The EDP is for people who thought the EDT was to loud.

I agree with you. The nutmeg in the EDP is not as good as the citrus in the EDT. I like the EDT better. They are close enough that I only have the EDT version, because they are close enough to be redundant.

The EDT is definitely the better scent. Similar, but in the end I agree that the EDT outshines the EDP from opening to dry down. 👍🏼

I sold my edp and got the edt instead ..I'm on my third bottle now of the edt ..the silage and nose catching whiff of the edt are missing in the edp , it's almost a bit pointless to have the edp ..I find the edt better performing also

EDP is good, but EDT wins for me, EDP resembles more of a baby powder scent to me and is little heavy. EDT js lighter and fresher 😎

My EDP arrived yesterday and I loved it more on my skin than ETD. I'd buy EDT full bottle sometime in the future.

Well at least I know my nose isn't broken because I 100% agree with everything you said. I have both the EDT and I was given the EDP as a gift. And I definitely prefer the edt over the edp. I actually like the rough masculine freshness of the original. With the edp They toned down everything that made the edt great and made it sweet and powdery. I bought a 200ml of the original just in case Dior reformulates it. As always great video and topic

I like the EDT better. EDP is actually a lot weaker on my skin. I didn't like Sauvage when I first smelled it. Gave me a headache. But when I eased up on the trigger (applied it more lightly, not such dense sprays) I really began to enjoy it. It's one of the few fresh fragrances (that I've come across anyway) that has absolutely no performance issues in the cooler months. This really can be worn year round. It's become a signature worthy fragrance for me.

I agree the original is probably the best, even though it’s been watered down recently.

I like both versions but, probably, prefer the EDT. I recently used the last drops of my EDT and have I'm torn whether to replace the EDT or get the EDP. We shall see. Enjoyed.

I have some "pure ambroxan" at home. I don't think Sauvage is an ambroxan bomb at all. Agreed!

Well EDT is the strong flare of Sauvage which is great. It took time for me to like Sauvage overall :P

I spent a very long time contemplating whether to get the EDP or EDT. In the end after much sniffing, waiting, sniffing, waiting and sniffing some more I choose the EDT. The EDT was the clear winner for me

I have the Sausage EDT and prefer that over the EDP. I get a better vibe off of Prada Luna Rossa, rather than Sausage EDP

Same case when hermes launch the edp version of terre d’hermes .. first I think it’s gonna toped the original version .. wrong .. the original I think still standout. Thanks for the review .. now I am sure I am gonna buy the edt version of sauvage 👍🏼

I Love the opening of the Edt, but prefer the drydown of Edp! I Love both in any case, but here is my advice for those who are on the fence of which one to get: It all depends on what you want out of it, if you want Really Good Projection and prefer brighter scents get the Edt, but if you're more the subtle type guy who doesn't want to broadcast his scent or an older gentleman, i think you will prefer the Edp. They both last a long time and project really well, the Edt is a bit more louder. If budget is an issue, you'll be happy with the Edt, they both smell too similar to really justify the more expensive Edp. I own both and still Love them! Keep up the great work Daver! :)

After trying EDT and Cool Spay, I did find them nice, but a bit unrefined. Hopefully when I try the EDP I can justify a purchase.

I think both are solid, dumb reach worthy:) I have only EDT and I like it a little more because of that intense spicy & citrusy warm freshness and 90s shaving foam vibe lol

EDT is 30 and under. EDP is over 30. EDP works for me. it's well rounded and smooth.

What about Sauvage VCS? I think it's the best version of out of all of them and really underrated because of the spray thing

You hit the nail on the head the original EDT has more Brilliance the bergamont is out of this world and the EDP is more dull down EDT all the way my prediction is any flanker that Dior comes out with for sauvage is not going to be better than the original it's already a 10

I try EDT from a bottle and a sample. From a bottle heavy mist - it's smell like hell for me (synthetic mess), from a sample - more natural and kinda nice. I try EDP once from the bottle and i feel more EDT spray feel (not as harsh as EDT from a bottle). Maybe third version will be more pleasant for me. I want less ambroxan and maybe added honey note. I think honey-bergamot combo with a hint of ambroxan will shine for me!

It's pretty solid ..... However if anyone have Edt they should not buy Edp.. that's it..

They always see me comin when they come out with these edps...almost always buy them lol.Case in point..Bleu De Chanel.In this case though not better than the original.

I bought the EDP since EDT has a different formula, EDP lasts on me easily 8 plus hours, the new EDT only 3 hours, it sucks

I feel the EDT has more personality. Just got a bottle today, even though EDP smells great, it's not as charcteristic and dark as the original

I haven’t smelled or tried the EDP. I own the EDT so I’m familiar with it, and I think you hit the nail on the head when you said there’s much more than ambroxan going on in the EDT. As a matter of fact, I also own and love Molecule 02 (ambroxan) and I find it is definitely less marine and less thick than what one can smell in the dry down of Sauvage. Perhaps it’s my nose, but there’s a sort of briny scent to Sauvage that I can’t detect in Molecule 02.

EDP is so much better, it's sexier and not as citrus cleaner-esque. I also took home all 3 versions on a Dior spray card, the EDT was gone and non existent within a day and a half and the EDP lasted all WEEK on the spray card. Parfume version did nothing for me and couldn't place why. Why are their bottles so basic and tacky though? I don't wanna spent $120 on that trailer turd bottle.
