The more you listen to it, the better it sounds. I wish they had’ve kept certain elements from the original song but this is still a solid remake.

If anything but talented, Dir en grey is absolutely strange. No band in the world has ever, at their core, been so weird and been able to make it a cohesive, polished sound.

perfect description :) and they make tastefully strange visuals, music and lyrics that make a whole lot of sense in the midst of their loud beauty

This is AMAZING. Between this, the single and the live version of Utafumi, you can't go write spending a little over $3 for it on iTunes.

Love it! Although, my only issue is just the acoustic portion of Kaoru’s solo. They could’ve kept the slower speed, but I just feel that acoustic just doesn’t go into the song unless there were other acoustic sections to it. They could’ve done it similar to the solo in Kaishun, with Die’s acoustic or even playback and Kaoru distortion solo). I also feel like they could’ve done more with the last slower portion of the chorus. It catches you off guard a bit, but if Kyo had sang in a higher pitch alone and changed octaves in some places here, it would’ve even sufficed. Just kinda feels like they ran out of ideas on how to change it and just stuck with this like they were rushing.

Oh fuck, this is great. It has been very long since the last remake which I consider better than the original. Or at least equally good.
the hobbit book is better than the entire lord of the rings trilogy. The live-action movies are the opposite.

izSpeshul Indeed. It seems quite difficult to mess up a movie based off The Hobbit, but they managed

To be straight-up honest I prefer the original. But I do like some of the elements inside the new song Especially the change ups in the versus. I like how they stuck to the original feel and Vibe of the song. However I'm not agreeing with everything Kyo is doing with his vocals... I know he's trying to replicate is old more deranged singing voice Back in the Day but I just don't feel it fits very well now and days.
@juniorpavon6 жыл бұрын
Brooks Andrew I think today Kyo controls his voice better than before in older records, so he can do the screaming technique without hurting his cords.
@brooksandrew20916 жыл бұрын
Oh of course I totally Agree. But Like I said he was trying to replicate his Old voice from years of debut through Kisou. His voice has changed so much since the early years. I Love and fully respect his vocal range and singing capability Today. He is one of best vocalist and performers I've ever heard/ seen in my Life! I'm just saying in my opinion I don't think his new day vocals fit very well on this track for what he was trying to do. And what they were trying to bring back to life. I loved the re - makes of Fukai, IIID Empire and Beautiful Dirt. He Nailed Bringing those Tunes back to life!
@alejandron.molina12956 жыл бұрын
Back in those days Kyo didn't even know what he was doing, those screams were really organic and imo sounded great even though he was literally breaking his chords. As you said before, he is now trying to replicate those but the results will never be the same because now he is almost on total control of his vocal technique. Trying to replicate his old screams now with proper techniques is almost impossible. That right amount of imperfection was what made those old screams so good.
@brooksandrew20916 жыл бұрын
Nicely put. Of course I'm talking more of his voice and vocal range all together back then. Not just his screams. But I'd say Kyo in the early years (Debut - Kisou) knew what he wanted to do and pulled it off but with damage to his vocal chords. It's really is impressive and amazing Kyo's vocal range is what it is today. I mean he's burnt himself out so much over the ( early - mid) years especially in (Marrow of a bone and Withering to Death) era when he was a straight up Screamer. I love those albums but it was painful to watch / hear Kyo Scream his way through Lives back then... Uroboros is when he finally got a fairly strong wrap around his abilities and correctly learned how to Growl.
@alejandron.molina12956 жыл бұрын
I agree with you, that was exactly my point. I mean, he knew what he wanted to do but the way he did it was clearly unhealthy. There's no doubt his overall vocal technique has been highly improved since Uroboros. The way he manages to sing almost every chorus above the 5th octave with a solid mixed voice is unbelievable, along with those whistle+fry screams and powerful growls. He always pushes the boundaries of vocal performance and should be considered one of the best metal vocalists/performers/entertainers. There is also no doubt that even though marrow and whitering era were amazing eras those played a negative role in Kyo's proper development of a healthy and lasting longer career. I'm glad we can still have a nice convo on the internet, and share different points of view.
