Great rework. This was one of my bands growing up. Mark Knophhler, the lead guitarist and singer. He’s literally a genius. He’s written sound tracks for movies The princess bride ,,, prob his biggest box office success. Huge movie in the 90’s. If you want to know more about him and research if unique finger style guitar playing. He highly regarded as one of the best ever finger style guitarists ever. And he’s such a great story teller in his songs! That’s what makes him truly truly special. No one did what he did…. The way he did it. He is and was a gift to us. And music fan.

The studio version of this is one of the best songs for cruising. It's nice that you enjoyed it so much.🤗 What I love about this clip is how much fun they're having. Making a living like that wouldn't suck.

Masterpiece !! live

This song got Dire Straits' career started, but the 1978 studio version is much shorter than this and has almost completely different personnel. The band went through changes and this "Alchemy Live" concert from 1984 features the new group, most noticeably to me the new drummer, Terry Williams. Now I can't listen to the original any more. Luckily there's a live album of this concert.

Telegraph Road same concert is even better with epic ending and lots of peaks and troughs. Love your channel guys and reactions. Cheers from Australia 👍👍

Dire Straits, they have quite a lot more masterpieces...each masterpiece is telling a story...takes you along that journey with the song. The 'embracing' as you described it...😉 Some masterpieces are so great and powerful that it will bring tears to your eyes...fills you with incredible emotions...and that's the Gods given unique talent of Mark Knopfler...the songwriter, lead singer and guitarist...these masterpieces can make you feel a certain way or hit straight to your soul 😉. Can't tell you how much your obvious joy reflects exactly how I react every time I listen to this rendition. Now I want you to do what I've always done; I almost always listen to this, and other Rock songs, when I'm driving. Try driving and letting your natural love of this song respond. You end up looking whacked out. At 76 now I try not to listen to rock when I'm driving so as to avoid having folks call ahead for cops and an ambulance.

That "softer" section was mostly created by the percussion dropping out. Makes you feel like you're floating. You may notice Pentatonix uses that technique sometimes.

You guys have to listen to Lynard Skynard live in Oakland 1977, FREEBIRD! Slow at first but then picks up!

This was up there with Bruce Springsteen '85 born in the USA Wembley, Pink Floyd '94 Pulse Earls Court as must see gigs. They were truly immersive and Emotive concerts, certainly the best I've ever attended. Love that you were getting the same hit from it now as we got nearly 40 years ago
