I am in the process of restoring a 1990 MC Tristar, just like yours. I have purchased 1700 lbs of ballast for the back of the boat, like yours. With that much weight in the back, what driving tips would you give me? Seems like there is a danger of the wake wave coming over the stern with it that low in the water. How has it worked out for you?

I sometimes had water come over the back but not enough to worry about Just make sure you have 2 high flow bilge pumps with float switch. If you do take on water you'll pump it out quick

I have a MC Stars and Stripes. Think this setup would work on it? I’m not sure the difference in hull shape in a Prostar vs S&S though

Need to weigh down the bow too

The only time you want to weigh the bow down is if the boat can't get up to speed If you can hit surfing speed fine then don't put a single pound in the front. This will make the tallest wave you can get. If you want it longer, bring the speed up on the boat.

I have a 90 tri star and I run a 800lb across the back seat and 2 1100lb's beside the dog house with a mission wakebshaper to surf it. I'm 200lb though. Great boats. We mainly wakeboard it. I have perfect pass as well. Can you open your doghouse with the back seat pushed forward?

Yes, I am able to open the doghouse, but I left the hinge bolts out so when I have to do engine work I just lift it right off I have a newer setup I worked on this spring, I'll be doing a video walkthrough of that in the next few weeks. I haven't run it on the water yet to be sure it works. If you check out my past love streams you can see what we have done. I'll have closer to 1800 lbs of weight in the very back now.

I found that with all the weight in the back the wake is tall but not long enough to surf. When I added weight to the front it made more length of wave to surf. Might need a few hundred pounds to put in the bow to add length if you need it. Good luck!

I haven't had trouble getting the length out of it. We just bumped the speed. I think we were riding at 10.4 mph last summer. With the extra weight this year I'll be looking at what I may need in the bow though. Will update everyone when the new video drops. Still waiting for the weather to warm up a bit more
