Verb conjugation is an attention hog.
Rarely do I have a conversation about learning Spanish without verb conjugation coming up.
And with good reason. It's not easy.
Lots of tenses. So many patterns. Plus all those exceptions.
But lurking in the shadows... perhaps even more confusing... are the pronouns!
Me mi mí. Tú tu te ti. Él, lo, le.
OMG!!!!
The good news is, just like with verb conjugation, once you focus on ONE type of pronoun at a time, it's really not that hard.
It's just confusing when you rush it, don't practice enough, then can't differentiate one from the other.
Tú, tu, te, ti?
Come on. You've got to be kidding!
Well this video is all about helping you AVOID that confusion:
Start with one type of pronoun (direct object pronouns).
Focus on them.
Learn them.
Practice them.
When you're done with this video, you'll understand what direct object pronouns are, how they're used in Spanish, and why they're so tricky for us.
And when you're done with the Practice Worksheet on that page, you'll start to FEEL how to use them.
Practice Worksheet: spanishdude.com/quickies/dire...
That's how it's done around here.
Focus. Learn. Practice.
Focus. Learn. Practice.
Focus. Learn. Practice.
Watch the video, do the Practice Worksheet.
Then I think you'll find, direct object pronouns, suddenly don't seem so hard anymore.
Suerte, Gringo!
Jordan

Its so strange how a KZfaqr can be 10000x better than my college professor who claims to speak 6 languages at teaching in a 9 minute video. (We have 2 hour classes) Muchas gracias!

I teach high school Spanish and this is a concept that tends to confuse students. I think I'll show this video because I like the way you show both sets of pronouns - subject and direct object - to help the viewer/learner avoid confusion. And I'm subscribing as well in hopes of using other videos of yours. Thanks for taking the time to make these! :D

I'm just starting to learn this but it may help to sort of translate the sentences 'literally' at first in the sense that you help students see a greater pattern. In this case, "Carlos te presenta" "Carlos you introduces" or "Lo presentas" "Him you introduce" Not correct, but it could help people recognize how they should place the words for actual translation

I like his videos much more than those by native Spanish speakers on KZfaq who tell us that a concept is so very simple but to an English speaker makes no literal sense. I feel there's nothing wrong about getting mad about how confusing languages are and Spanish is full of "Why? What? Huh?" moments for me.

I do not know if this is an issue or not. There is a TON of outstanding Spanish on youtube, and your charisma and down to earth speaking style, that often puts warning signs up early (ie, "this is confusing", "this often is a stumbling block", "I found this difficult" etc) is really helpful. It forces to bear down mentally in anticipation, and gives us encouragement to not beat ourselves up, making you one of the best. I am signing up. (Sorry for the run on sentence! I'm a native English speaker, so I have no excuse) I find the rapidity forces me to watch it 3 times. That's probably a good thing.

It's so strange how a KZfaqr can be as good as my professors at WSU. Or at least the ones I've taken Spanish from. Thank you .

I completed every lesson in Rosetta Stone with 100%. Twice. Then I tackled Duolingo. Every level, every story, every podcast. Nothing clicked. Until you. I don't have words to express my gratitude. I'm bingeing every video and then I'll buy everything you're selling. 😄

I would love to get a t-shirt that says, "sonreir" with the accent on the "i". Do you by any chance sell those. The shirt would really work well, I believe, in the Northwest. Defrost some of the Seattle freeze.

+Lexi O'Donnell Great, I love to hear it. I'm happy you found me. This video is actually part of a series of videos that are all very related (and they get confusing): gringoespanol.com/quickie-category/pronouns It's this one, then indirect, double, reflexive and verbs like gustar. 5 videos total. Check them out! Thanks for the message!

Charlize Alcoy If you're falling behind, make sure you watch all the videos in that series. direct, indirect, double, reflexive, personal a, and verbs like gustar. Those are all names of videos on my KZfaq channel and website. Learn one thing at a time. Focus on it. Practice it. Then move onto the next thing. You can do it! Nothing's that hard isolated. It's all together that it's tricky =)
