Albert Hughes of the legendary Hughes brothers recently sat down with VladTV and talked about how the title "Menace II Society" was adopted from a student film that Hughes had created at LA City College. Hughes clarified that it was his brother's idea to incorporate the title in their movie, and he cleared up misconceptions about its origin, adding that it was actually inspired by M.C. Ren and CPO's "Ballad of a Menace," as well as Ice Cube's rap song "I Ain't the One."
Hughes also related his early days growing up in Detroit with his brother, African-American father, and Armenian mother. After his parents divorced when the boys were two, his mother moved them to California in 1980.
