Isn't that something you'd think of without the need for advice? What he said is true, however it's not terribly insightful. That being said, he's probably my fav director ever. If you need to be told such a thing, maybe filmmaking isn't for you. If you wanna do it, you from the very beggining would wanna do it to express what you want to say through the cinematographic language. What i'm tryna say is that you shouldn't want to become a rockstar for the rockstar lifestyle, your aspiration should have been to make music, nothing else.

I videotaped an older homeless woman pushing her loaded grocery cart up a rather slight inclined sidewalk. She kept running into the slightest crack or hump in the sidewalk and oh boy did she have to wrestle with that cart to get it over those little bitty obstacles. I'm gonna post it and list myself as the filmmaker. I think that might be the best one I have.

@@bennyjones1502 your right that making shorts and scripts help you get through the door but how do you promote yourself, how do you find a guy who knows a guy. You can't only be a director in spirit if you want to eat under a roof. But your that having some experimental shorts or writing scripts or plays creates a better resume. That's why film school or film class in college is important so you can use high tech equipment cause anyone make make a film with a 8mm camera, camcorder, or phone.
@brunoactis1104

You don't get a gig, that's not how it works unless you're absurdly lucky. Just get some actors (friends basically), get a camera and say what you want to say through the cinematographic language. For that to work, you need to have something to say to begin with, that's the most complicated part, because it's intrinsec to you; basically you need to be born an insightful and creative person. Tarantino himself shot Reservoir Dogs with friends as his first film, but the film got destroyed during production; what happend was that the script was so good that he got a gig. Sure he got the advantage of by chance knowing someone that knew someone that knew someone that knew Harvey Keitel, and also he was living in LA, but without that script, he wouldn't have got nowhere.

Obviously there's so much more to it then "go make movies"...Film school is often pretty damn important for many. If you write, great, if not, find writers who'll let you make their short films. Publicize, enter film festivals, post on KZfaq, get as much exposure as you can. Directors have agents. Try to get an agent when you have a body of work. Direct any job you can, build up a resume. Always be learning and listening and trying new things. But I'm sure people ask these movie legends how do you become a director...and these are the simple answers they give that spread around social media. It's 1,000,000 times more complicated than this video for shit's sake.

I hope this video is for to help me and not just entertain me because I hear what they're saying, but when I try to contact Writer's guild of America to try to hire a screenwriter to write my screenplays because I don't know how to write a screenplay I will leave a message because I think they're working from home I will never get a call back from them. I have seen and been around a lot of wannabe business owners and now they are business owners they have started there own candle business, planner/diary journal business, they have also started there own daycare business, skin care business, and even vending machine snack business and are now business owners now making money while they sleep at night while I am still trying to be a film producer. I don't know if the film industry is a scam because everyone is starting there own business now, well actually some people and they are business owners now but the film industry you just get ignored. The only film business that did not ignore me was the Mexico film industry they are totally different from the U.S film industry. That just shows that the United States doesn't want to see you make it they want to keep us poor that's why when I call WGA or even SAG after they ignore me because no one wants to see you make it. But Mexico film industry is a lot better and different from the United States film industry. I think this video is just to entertain me but not actually help me. If it's not then tell me how you can help me because people don't want you to be rich.

Learn how to write, anyone can. It's not a real time task that requires immense talent like professional basketball, hacky people make it all of the time in regards to writing. Your writing is like clay, reshapable and can be iteratively designed, got a better idea for this scene? Plug it into the story, it's all modular. Seek criticism too, criticism is hugely important for growth.

@@greysunited7317 But what I do hear a lot is that it's very hard to break into Hollywood. It's not a scam, it's just very hard to break in. God has to really want that for you, it has to be God's will and it is because they are now answering the phones now in California even though I am all the way in Florida. I am going to learn how to write they also have pro writing aid that can help writers too and I am serious about becoming a film producer and screenwriter because I am not making enough money working two jobs, so I have to start a side hustle because when I went to McDonald's to eat the total came up to $15 an that took my whole $20. And I am not trying to become a film producer because of the money, but I do want to make some kind of money from my movie because I can't survive working the two jobs I have inflation is eating up my savings.
