Real all about it on MAKE: makezine.com/video/diresta-pir...
In this episode, Jimmy fulfills a childhood dream of having his own pirate chest to store his booty--OK, make that pocket change, but it's still a very cool box.
In each episode of DiResta (every other Wednesday), artist and master builder Jimmy DiResta (Dirty Money, Hammered, Against the Grain, Trash for Cash) lets us into his workshop, to look over his shoulder while he builds whatever strikes his fancy.

This is a valuable addition to my woodwork collection kzfaq.infoUgkxkNYRBJuiJ6EwD-tQSAlxg0eFKsnR2cgz I still will rate this woodwork plan as the best in my reference library. It always seems to stand out from the rest whenever you go through the library. This is a masterpiece.

I really enjoy your videos....I seriously have watched everyone of them. I don't understand the need to make any negative comments. It has dawned on me that so many people that comment negatively are "know it all's". For those of you who do not have anything good to say weren't you ever taught...."If you can't say something nice don't say anything at all". Jimmy Diresta doesn't need your negative or positive comments to be successful. Mr. Diresta's work speaks for itself. The dude has skills, whether its the way you would do it or not. GREAT WORK!!!!!!

I hear you, it's like getting a badass Christmas present every time you see a 1 next to his name. He plays it smart with the uploads. Many popular channels saturate their feed with a video every day or two. I've had plenty of channels that I thought were awesome at first, but the content is always the same and I just get sick of it after 30 days and 50 videos.. Not Mr. Diresta, it's going on two years and I still get a lap rocket every time I see a new post. I want to be as cool as Diresta someday. Diresta, we salute you.

I gotta say, Mr. DiResta, whenever I watch your videos all the crap that I've been feeling that day, no matter how bad the day was, I feel better. I feel alive and liberated. I don't know why, but there is something about watching a craftsman perform his art really really well (in this case, yourself), that makes one think "he can be good, I can be good". And then I don't feel so bad. So thanks for the vids, good sir.

Devin Deatherage I assume you mean not-modern pirate, which means welding is out altogether. They'd have forged metal pieces and joined them with hot rivots. This entire thing is an interpretation of a pirate's chest anyway. I like it. More art than science, but still requires skill. Very cool.

Thiago Roman Don't think there's a lot of weight reduction considering he had to add the wood. It's supposed to replicate a chest. Obviously they weren't made like this, they didn't have welding equipment and plasma cutters. They would just secure the wood with strips of forged metal.
