Another option for the CN tower (which is pretty expensive to go up) is to go to the 360 restaurant. You get to bypass the lines for those folks just going to the observation deck. Once there you get to spend your time in the restaurant that revolves approx. 360 degrees per hour (if memory serves), and still use the observation deck when you're finished your meal. The negative side of the coin is that the menu is expensive. If you're not buying a city pass and are hungry anyways, this might be a good option.

You would if you ever travel outside Canada! For visiting, food is cheaper in Toronto than Vancouver, and things are about the same price in Montreal. ;)

To bring down the overall price, Chas walked a lot and didn't eat a lot. It's a good video, but I would like to see the prices in both CAD and USD. Oh and also ride to TTC instead of the UPX if you're visiting, it cost way less.

Actually, the cheapest way into the city from the airport is not the UP Express but the Toronto Transit Commission. Cash fare for students and seniors is $2.05.

Yes ; but it is a death wish because neither the TTC buses or perhaps drivers are up to 100 km speeds on 427 to Kipling Stn. Scary. Not again.

Cheap yes but the time spent handling that jungle might be a deterrent, UPX is more direct at least and faster.

Yeah just take the 52 bus to Lawrence and use the subway. Only takes about an hour, used to use that way to get to college from Brampton

Should report to the authority whoever charged you $4.82 for a subway/streetcar/bus ride, cash fare is only $3.25 and $3.00 with a token or a ticket :) . Anyway, great wrap-up of what downtown Toronto has to offer!

I love Toronto. I was born and raised here and I love living here. I live and work in the east end, but I leave my car at home and TTC it downtown for fun. I have traveled all over the world, but I am always happy to come home to my city. It’s too bad you missed China town. You were so close. One block away from Kensington Market. The food there is dirt cheap and fresh as hell. I’m so glad you came here. This video was outstanding. Well done, sir. 😋

The cheapest way to get to downtown Toronto is not the UP express it is actually the TTC. like you mention in your video it costs $12.35 per person for a one way trip but you can take the TTC anywhere in Toronto for $3.25. and if you plan on going to multiple places you can actually purchase a day pass for $12.50 and have unlimited travel on the TTC all day

I have lived in Toronto all of my 49 years, and I haven’t seen any of that stuff before, I guess is true, you have to become a tourist in your own city in order to really appreciate everything that’s in your city! So good. Smooth transition and flow. Something I like to be good at. You should do a tutorial on how to make a documentary like this. This is pretty close to the quality of “impractical jokers” tv. For one person to edit and do all this, this is nuts.

Great vid Chas. Toronto is my hometown. Nice to see how the city has changed over the years. We live in St. Catharines, about ten minutes from Niagara Falls. If you come back again, I'd suggest you check out some of the battlefields and forts from the war of 1812.

Depending on how much you plan on using transit, the TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) has Day Passes ($12.50 CND) and Weekly Passes ($43.75 CND) as well.

I used to live in the eastern part of the city and worked downtown for years. Loved Kensington M., now I live a few hours north of T.O. and I want to go to Chef Jagger's. I want to get a city pass too. Thanks for the info!

You hopped a street car and a bus to Casa Loma for $4.82? You could have done it for a lot less. Ask the driver for a transfer next time. You can traverse the entire city for the price of 1 fare.

If seems you were double paying when you transferred on the TTC. It's a one fare system so you can travel the whole city by just grabbing a transfer ticket. For the amount you were traveling, it'll be cheaper to buy a day pass for $10. On weekends, the day pass are good for 2 people which makes it even cheaper.

I just came across this and I love the part about Niagara. I live North of Toronto but I travel to Niagara falls twice a year and I never buy any food on Clifton Hill. But I always buy my food along Lundy's Lane. Next time you time to Niagara go there and buy your food.

I loved your tour, and you did an excellent job of getting into a city that is new to you. Your fact checking is a lot more intuitive and accurate than most of these! Well done! I join the chorus that you should have a tv show because you are light-years ahead of most of these types of travelogues on KZfaq. One particularly inept guy did a "things you'll love things you'll hate" report and he seemed to be obsessed with how expensive and difficult it was to park his car downtown?!?! Just a question, why did the streetcar or bus to Casa Loma cost you $4.82? One ticket into the entire TTC system costs $3 Cdn, which is something like $2.30 US. When you buy one ticket, you can transfer to any other part of the system (bus, subway, streetcars) for free as long as it is a one way destination; you don't need to buy another ticket. Usually a person would just get off the subway at Dupont, and walk to Casa Loma.

Hey there. I live in Toronto for the past 15 odd years. Have I ever been to any of these places ? Well, just the Museum, none of the other places. Rest of the places I have seen from the outside while on a bus or in a car. Never knew hostels exist! Luckily never had to depend on them, lucky to have roof over my head! Can I afford visiting these places ? Of course, I do have resources. Why didn't I make it there ? It just doesn't happen, tied up with work and chores. Good to learn that there is boat cruise to islands; also BG Tours can take you to Niagara. Also, Allen Gardens never realized it is this gorgeous. Despite living here never knew about city pass! Well 9 days is too short a time for a resident visitor, it should be a month or two for an additional 30 bucks! Good try isn't it ?

I live in Toronto and came across this video in my recommended. Not bad at all! The voiceover style is perfect and the editing is good. You did a good job finding great places to visit though as some mentioned you could have made more use of our very affordable public transport. You didn't have to Uber to a lot of those places and could have made use of transfers to keep going places for free. I actually thought the audio quality was reasonable but where you really need to up the quality is low light performance in video. I take it you're probably using a crop-sensor Canon Rebel Txi series camera, not great for low light shots. Try a Sony A6300 or A6500 and you'll be amazed by how much it increases your production value in low light!

You can just pay $3 to use the TTC and get downtown in about an hour. UP express is not the cheapest way, but it's probably the fastest.
