Why would you ever want a limited slip in your two wheel drive tow rig? On this episode we'll swap at Powertrax Grip Pro limited slip differential into my buddy Filarski's Ford F-250 without doing a gear swap. This is a great way to add traction to your tow rig for pulling a boat, or moving a trailer on slippery surface, even if it's a 2wd. Plus we'll discuss other fun topics about off roading and 4x4's.

I loved the, "you young guys can do it laying in your gravel driveway, it builds character". That's the way I did it in my youth. Only difference now is my drive is concrete, I still don't have a lift.

I had trutracks in my xj on 35s and I’ll never forget my friends telling me to “turn my lockers on” in deep north Idaho snow. Even with braking I felt like it was kinda pushing it in those conditions so I hope the grippro improves on that. My eaton was incredible on ice and snow roads

Great video, I was needing some motivation to install the locker in my JT, keeping the same gears 4:10s unless the build sheet is wrong and axle tags. Mine was built right before the Trac-Loc became standard in Max-Tow.

My 2001 F250 has the same.rear.end, same 7.3, but I have a three inch lift and run 295/75-18 Michelins. Basically a 34 inch tall tire (34.25 if you want to be precise) it turns right at 2000 rpm at 75 mph and I get about 16 mpg average. Tows an open car hauler with cars and trucks just fine.

Diesels work best when kept in their best torque range regardless of the speed of the vehicle. The 3.73s that Ford used are better than 4.10s for over all use because diesels pull better at lower RPM. My Dodge with a Cummins runs 3.54s keeping the engine at max torque at around 68 mph. I would realize better fuel mileage at 80 mph with a higher gear such as 3.23.

That’s the same style lsd the TJ rubicon had in its rear end. Incredible lsd. Now obviously the TJ rubicon also had a locker back there but the lsd was great when in high range

The 99 Super Duty that I had didn’t matter if it was loaded or unloaded always got the same mileage. The only exceptions were when I had a couple bad injectors or had the race tune in it.

...4.10 might be a tractor, lol. Diesel engines hate high rpms but have excellent low end torque. Diesels will have taller gears to keep the revs low according to the use of the vehicle. A similar vehicle running gasoline might require a 4.10-4.30, or lower to achieve the same leverage.

The rear gear ratio should be printed on or near Vin number in the driver door jam

I had one of those in my zj. I installed in the d30. What I different it made on the trails. It was really nice to be able to steer when it was ingauged.

I really want to put a TruTrac in my F-150’s Super 8.8 but I just can’t seem to justify the price for what it might offer being the truck is already 4wd.
