My first true love and I would talk, laugh and dance to Phish. Never heard this song play on my Playlist tjll a few days after he passed away. I had never even heard of this song yet along saved it to my phish playlist... wow

In case anyone ever missed it, the "show me what this thought is worth" line has the answer: "dirt." In other words, the fear that he'll never hear your voice again is bullshit--it's worth dirt. Even beneath the dirt you can speak to him and be heard.

This song should be an hour long

This is one of my top two songs of the time period. The other being written at the farmhouse this album refers to, but on the story of the ghost. Dirt and "wading in the velvet sea", which I loved the brainstorm session being played on the marimba. Brings me back to my younger years playing percussion in band. Wading was my wedding reception dance song. I sung the lyrics in my brides ear while dancing. Both these songs have deep meaning to me. The lyrics to dirt have personal connections to how people have been to me in my life. A magical song.
