This completely portable DeWalt blower 20v, the DeWalt DCBL722, which has enough output to do the job of removing debris or clearing off an area, is REALLY handy!
A year ago we bought the DeWalt® DCBL722 Axial Blower as a bare tool - without a charger or battery. The unit cost $149 and is part of the DeWalt® 20V Flexivolt Platform.
We’ve used the DeWalt leaf blower for over a year, and we continue to be impressed by its performance, battery run time, ease of use, and it’s weight.
The tool without the battery weighs just under 8 pounds/3.6 kg and is well-balanced even after the battery is added. The packaging was more than adequate and the contents were nested well and damage-free. There are only 4 items when the package is opened - the main blower unit, the tube, the concentrator tip, and the documentation.
Assembly is easy, although the latch that holds the blower tube to the blower body can be tricky. Figure out how it works before you assemble the unit because it’s easier to put the unit together than it is to take it apart!
Some key specifications include a sound rating of 61dB, velocity output of up to 125 mph (201 kph), and the maximum CFM (cubic foot per minute) produced by this unit is 450.
Practically, this unit packs enough power to quickly clear a smooth area or lawn of leaves. It’s not too heavy, well balanced, and has a reasonable run time before depleting the battery. We get about 20 minutes of run time with a 5 aH battery before having to swap it out.
You can get more by running the unit at only the speed you need to get the job done. Use the unit’s built-in “cruise-control” on the trigger. This allows you to bring the motor up to the speed you desire, and then set it there. This can extend the run time, as well as reduce “blowback” when you point the unit towards a corner or wall - or when you are blowing debris into a slight headwind.
We found this tool to be very handy and have decided to store it in the house along with other household care and maintenance tools and supplies. Check out this hanger/charger base we made for placement in our mudroom:
• Cordless Tool and Char...
To see our original review of the tool, visit:
• How Good is the DeWalt...
We’ve used this blower to clean our garage floor, front porch, driveway, sidewalks, and even garden gravel pathways. It’ll work for dry leaf clean-out in gutters as well!
Bottom line? Do we still continue to recommend this tool and were our initial impressions correct? Yes and Yes!

I was looking for a lightweight blower for my deck. kzfaq.infoUgkxgioZQl3J5wPGAeDINzbieKbT5qomSEx3 There are some huge trees around my house and the leaves and pods drop all over my deck. Having to move furniture around to sweep has become too big a chore. This blower was the answer. It is light enough for this 70yr old lady and powerful enough to blow all the tree droppings off my rather large deck. Thank you B&D. Be aware the cord is not included. I use a 3 prong outdoor cord 25' cord for my 12' x 20' deck. The cord retainer works very well, but don't try to pass the plug through it. That is NOT how it works. You just have to loop the cord and it works great. One of my best purchases. Very happy.

I recently bought this beauty to blow my car for detailing and I LOVE IT. I can get the whole car done on 1 5Ah battery. Got spares just in case. Love the bracket on de bottom so you can u the blower like a turretgun and upside down. Best feauture has to be the trigger lock/ cruise control. And it blows/moves so much air! Great piece!

I’ve owned mine since they first released the new model and my experience has been the same as yours. I bought it to take to the job to clean up the sawdust from my clients driveways. What I didn’t plan on doing was using it around the house so much. Although there are far more powerful battery blowers I’ve found that it’s has ample power for blowing dry leaves and cleaning the sidewalks after mowing. I usually only use the gas blower in the fall when there’s tons of wet leaves.

Waitley 5.0ah batteries are 29.99 on Amazon. 41/2 star rating. Like you I was very surprised that it was powerful enough to use for most of my blowing needs. I seldom start the Stihl blower up anymore, maybe in the fall. Though this puts out as much air as most of the older gas blowers. It's VERY impressive. $100 in batteries and you could use this all day with charging. I formly used an older tech B&D 40v blower (and other tools) and these 20v tools are WAY better. And 20v batteries can last 10 years. I have 20v b&d that are from 2011.

I have the same experience with my Worx 20 Amp... however the DeWalt with one battery looks to cost about $200 with one battery and charger. I got my Worx 20 Amp with 2 batteries, charger... AND a line trimmer for $149 from Amazon... great deal

Just picked up one of these tonight with a 6.0AH, 4.0AH, charger, and bag for $200. Pretty good deal I feel. I got a 1/4 and 1/2 Dewalt impact with only a 2.0AH battery so I needed more juice for sure!

I had the previous model axial blower fail just after the 3 year warranty period. Took it apart and the motor, controller, trigger and battery connections are all connected with solder. No plugs. Makes it very difficult to isolate the problem. I bought one just like you have and hoping for better results. I only use for blowing off the driveway maybe 40 feet long and occasionally blow extra air thru the smoke detector when I burn toast to clear the alarm.

People that complain about the run time on this awesome blower just don’t understand how to use it properly and what battery they should be using for the particular job.
@DirtFarmerJay

I would tend to agree with you. I find that using a 5 or 6 ah battery works well for our setting, and I use the "cruise-control" throttle setting to run the unit at about 2/3rds. This reduces blowback and takes care of most everything I am working to clear. I use short blasts of max to move stubborn items along. Thanks for your insight! Best, DFJ

I have yellow everything, including one of these. However, I kept my old Worx Turbo because it much more powerful than our DeWalt. Now I am wondering if there is something wrong with my DeWalt.

Great review, I just purchased the same blower and I love everything except that it has a very high pitched whine at high speed. Does yours do this as well? It's so ear piercing that I'll probably return it.
@DirtFarmerJay
@DirtFarmerJay 10 ай бұрын
Glad to be of help. Indeed, these types of blowers, with an inline high velocity fan, move a lot of air in a very small space. This makes for various pitches, some unpleasant. I don't tend to run my blower at ultra-high speed, but only in bursts as needed. I hope this helps! Best, DFJ
@emort6
@emort6 10 ай бұрын
@@DirtFarmerJay I'll take that as a possible yes...with an excuse?!...are you a politician? I recently used my dads ego blower with the same type of "inline high velocity fan" with over 700 cfm and it had no high pitched whine at all. I'm really disappointed that dewalt would sell such a poor product since I've invested in their batteries.

Is your Dewalt still working after one more year? Mine quit, despite modest, light usage. My 15 year-old Stihl gasoline leaf blower is still going strong with much heavier use. Judging from online comments this seems to be a widespread experience with Dewalt leaf blowers - they die after 1-2 years.
@DirtFarmerJay
@DirtFarmerJay 7 ай бұрын
Yes, indeed. The unit is still going strong and we use it ongoing. In fact we use it to help clean out gutters as well as blowing smoke down into gopher runs for pest control. It's a great tool that is served as well and doesn't appear to have any signs of stopping. Sorry to hear of your negative experience. That certainly has not been ours.

On my 3rd battery courtesy of Dewalt. On high speed battery dies in 5-7 mins from full charge. They gave me a higher cap battery, same result except the weight of blower is now more difficult. Their CS Stinks.

We have several blowers. Stihl gas the best, Worx next then this thing. I bought it since I have all DeWalt battery powered tools and it was on sale with a battery and charger. It's mediocre at best as a functioning tool in this arena. For me.

@@DirtFarmerJay Thanks. I use the Stihl almost exclusively except when blowing out inside the garage. My wife likes the Worx for the patio since it doesn't require a pull start, has no "smell" yet is still quite powerful for about 10 minutes on full. I stuck the DeWalt in the barn and almost never use it but put the battery into rotation.
