I would have left more hair/bangs in the front. A lot of people can pull it off to where the extra hair covers their receding hairline & makes the lineup look consistent across the entire forehead. Try letting his bangs grow longer in the receding areas the next time you cut his hair. Start by cutting the bulk with the grain "BUT" stop roughly 1-2 inches before the receding or lighter areas of the forehead (depending on how light the area is will depend on the stopping distance). Next, lineup the forehead before cutting into the receding area. Then after front lineup, lightly cut the front lineup with the grain (being very careful not to apply too much pressure so you don't remove too much hair) zap any fly away hairs. The longer hair covering the receding hairline should connect & wave up nicely.
