Never put diesel on asphalt it dissolves the oil and all you are left with is plant mix

It's fine with a really light spray,the mistake a lot of people make is they spray the shit out of it and yes, then it goes to mush. I've done many with a light spray of diesel and it works really well
@JonathanE3504 жыл бұрын
Yeah it will mess it up but no one saying pour a tanker load 🤦♂️🤦♂️🤦♂️just a light spray to get softened up it will make it reset the tar in it.... btw every truck that hauls asphalt is sprayed with diesel 😉😉😉

Love your channel and all the videos you make. You have such a beautiful looking family. I used millings in my driveway over 20 years ago. It works really well. It gets as hard as cement and has never sank in anywhere. It takes a few years for it to get really hard but when it does it will never move or settle on you. Happy Friday Mike! I love millings, have them on all the property parking lots and some driveways. It's great after some sun hits it and it bonds together and packs like concrete. We plow it here in New England with no damage or tear out. I believe you'll be quite happy with it! Enjoy your weekend my friend. Doug@ the "ranch"

I use grindings a lot for driveways. I found some rubberized asphalt grindings that I put at my house. I tracked em in with my mini and steel tracks. That worked good for breaking the chunks. And then box scraper and roller. Would like to oil it when completely done. The rubberized stuff holds together nicely and packs good! Cheers 🍻

The guy that put mine in drove & dumped the full length of the drive in thin layers so each layer was compacted with the next layer. He also made it wider, then made a small rise in the middle so rain run off went to the sides and not run the length of the drive, to the house or to the main road. I was very happy with the results. You sir made a good attempt at fixing your driveway. Enjoy the fruits of your labor.

Considering the name of your channel/business and the fact that you have at least some equipment you know something about grading and it shows by how well you use that box blade. The Millings, by now I'm sure since it's March of 2020 have compacted and become just pretty much a solid mass. EXCELLENT!! I Dump Trucked for 40 years and most that time I was involved in asphalt work from time to time. I have worked on most of the bigger DOT projects here in Ga. since they redid the Downtown Connector, I-75/85 n I-20 and that was the mid 80s. I've hauled millings a lot too and they are the best driveway material short of actually paving that there is. In fact, they may be better because asphalt - or concrete will crack eventually. If there is ever anything like that with millings just add a little more to it and it's fixed!! So far so good it looks like. Oh! And we ALL kill the truck engine sometimes!!! LOL!!! Going to watch the next one!!

be sure to put a layer on the Y part of your drive too. loaded truck rolling over the edge will break up the drive at the meeting point. I bought 3/4 of a 15 ton truck full of asphalt when a truck had a partial load that needed to go back to the plant. spread it with a skid steer and rolled it in with it . left tiremarks that eventually went away after 30 plus years. That was in the later 1970s and now is 2019 so my math might be off a bit. If your drive loosens up you can always call for the asphalt spraying truck to lay down a coating then roll it in again here they have started using asphalt reclaiming trains. Grinder in front with a long train of equipment to heat it up mix with fresh asphalt and then a paver at theback. Saves a bunch of trucking

Good stuff. I found a highway contractor with gobs of it. I bought a pickup load for 15 bucks and was so impressed that I called for a bid to do my quarter mile long driveway with it instead of gravel at 300 for a truck the size of yours. $5600. I like to died. I should have shut up and hauled it one truck load at a time for a week or two. It’s great stuff.

I use to spray my dump body with diesel and then a soap like stuff then load the dump truck set the spread chains open the gate have the truck in 4x4 low range start dumping as I am going1st gear shift in 2 gear as the body goes up going shift in 3 gear now it is empty, you travel slow or faster as thick as you want it. I had people say they never see that it looked like a paving machine spread the material like you had then I would back drag with the bucket and the scraper blade at the same time to level the stop and starts another trick is back drag with a snow plow

them millings we have used on country drive ways as well as high traffic places such as gas stations stores in the country, for a number of years, the tric is to roll it in when it is hot out, and roll it again a few weeks later when its hot, as some areas dont pack in really tight, the more you drive on it in hot days the better it gets, it makes it nice for snow plowing in the winter and far better water run off, and it never crakes,, but it has to go on heavy or its crap

That is a nice looking truck, hope she is running good for you. Once you get a hang of driving it you shouldn't stall out so much. When you get it packed down how you like it spread barn lime in a thin layer on a really hot day and either let it sit or roll it with something light. Once it sets it will be harder.

Hey DP a good friend of mine used to have a lot to do with reusing reconstituted asphalt and he said the best way to do it is on a hot day and spray it with diesel once you lay it then roll it with a big flat drum roller so you don’t have wheel ruts from using a truck

Kinda late now, but next time try tailgating the load while you dump. Leave about 4" of chain connected on the tailgate , and travel when you dump. 2 things easer on the equipment and less time spreading. BUT nice job and great topping. For the packing process, w/the roller use a propane brush torch heat the product before rolling. Also attach a scraper blade to the top frame of the roller will keep it from sticking.
