The Intex Pool Skimmer is a great addition to your above ground pool. This skimmer helps to keep your pool clean by catching debris before it has a chance to fall to the bottom of the pool. Its a great inexpensive investment into helping keep your pool clean. In this video I show you what comes in the box and how to install it. This is a review and how to video.

The skimmer helps out so much. We have been through 3 of their pools. The salt system is awesome also.🙂👍 The big curve is for the blow up ring pool.

I have an intex automatic vacuum that connects to the "output" part. It is a miracle. It costs from 70-100 dollars, depending where you order it from. EDIT. I see you have one!!! I was looking at some of your other videos.

I use my skimmer on the inlet farthest away from where the water return is. It seems to work much better bc even though I had my jet turned away from the skimmer it still pushed stuff away from it. Just thought I'd throw that in. Also if you use the flow reduction hat that comes with the skimmer on the other water inlet it will really cause that skimmer to pick up some major debris.

Does your pump act funny when you cover the other inlet tho? My skimmer starts pulling harder but it's like the suction is on off on off

No luckily on my pump I get really good flow still when I have one side covered. But then again every single pump is different.

When I try to use the suction hat it sucks and flattens or kind of crinkles up the hose that is using the reduction hat is that normal? I mean ik duh it is cutting off bigger flow but it scares me, but is that normal and ok?

@@leahrodriquez1349 are you using the original hoses that came with the pump? You can get heavier duty hoses if they flatten. It's not good to let them do that bc it will cut off the flow of water going through your pump and could cause it to burn up

Great video but I did notice that your water was a little oily maybe buy some tennis balls and pop them in the pool i just have 3 in the pool and mines a 20ft 52in high pool and the tennis ball helps a ton with the oily water

I’m using the light blue adapter that plugs into one of the inlets. My suction seems weak a cover-up one of the inlet holes in it pulls the water in real strong

My skimmer doesn't want to stay flat against the wall, it's seems to go out, so then the floating top is not flat with the wall - but I do only have it on a 10'x3' intex (rockin' with a sand filter) - I could have sworn last year it sat vertical. That hose wants to push it out. Any suggestions? Good video btw.

Hmmmmm that’s a problem I’ve never had with mine. Other than taking it off and then reattaching it which I’m sure you have already done I’m not sure what else to try

Do u hook the skimmer to the return where the water flows into pool? I’m still learning again about hook ups. My ex always did the pool equipment hook ups so I’m learning. I’m wanting to get me a skimmer like this one for my 10/30 metal frame pool cause the pump I have is attached to pool & it sucks.. So with that being said I only have a hole for return of water to go back into pool & then a hole where my pump & skimmer are together on side of pool. So can I make this work? Or does return have to be flowing & I can’t hook my skimmer too that?

Ok I read your comment again, no this skimmer will not work with your pool. The way you are explaining it you already have a skimmer if yours has the larger square intake. You cannot hook this up to the return, it won’t work.

Could you take a picture of how you have the pool skimmer attached to your new pvc system please? We are using that video to do that to our pool. The skimmer video shows the before setup, Or maybe a video on how you use or attached it.

The only thing I did was cut the insert (the blue piece) that slides into the suction hole maybe a half inch so it would slide into the hole enough before it hit the PVC

I have a older pool which has one out take spout and water comes out. Will this work? It's different than any pool i see on here

So you have one inlet that take water to the filter? If so yes it should still work for your pool

I am hoping you can help me as INTEX customer service is not very helpful unfortunately. I have a PRISM pool 20ft x 52 in. I also have the Intex skimmer and the sand pump filter. I have some questions regarding the setup and functionality. If I plug off one of the dual intakes as suggested with the skimmer product guide, the skimmer works fantastic however the pressure on the sand pump drops to the lowest option in the white on the gauge and the outtake pressure is def not as strong. But if I unplug the dual intake so that both are working, the skimmer does NOT work very well at all but the pressure on the pump is in the green and the outtake valve pressure is perfect. What is the correct setup? Is there something else I should be doing?

What size pump filter are you using? Sometimes if you’re using a stronger filter system, the small floating skimmer in covering one of the porch is starving the pump. That’s exactly why I went to the set up I have now. I install the skimmer into the wall in the flow is so much stronger because the opening is bigger, allowing more water in.

This is an old video but where does the skimmer goes? On the pump hose or the filter side? I'm so confused. Please help I know the small black pump is the one sucking in the water and the big filter is throwing the water back into the pool. Do I have this set up wrong?

Do you have a sand filter or cartridge pump? The skimmer goes into the intake hole that’s sucking the water into the pump. Not the return

How do you connect this after you have done your tubing to pvc pipes...the pipe going into the pool now will not allow the original outlet tubing!!!! Help

Did this work with existing connections after the pvc pipe addition? Or did you have to modify the inside insert?

I’m modified the insert a little bit by cutting about a half inch off the edge so it would push through the hole and meet the PVC in the middle

After having the skimmer for a minute do you still recommend it? Have you had any issues? I just bought the vacuum it works alright. Wondering if I add the skimmer if it will make my life easier. Thank you

Well after owning the vacuum for a year now vacuum is good for picking up basic debris but not great for like sand and small stuff. The skimmer yes absolutely love it. If at any time it seems like it’s not pulling a strong flow of water I just do a backwash on the filter and it goes back to normal

I really like the catfish pool blaster it’s a cordless vacuum I use that for sand and algae stuff like that fine stuff. I appreciate you taking the time to watch the video and ask the questions good luck with it.

I got both and we love having them. I’d recommend them both. So much faster cleaning and maintaining the pool before and after heavy use with kids and trees and wind. I also ordered the skimmer socks and they worked on both the basket and pool filter.

Greats video. I have a similar skimmer. I found last year in order to get better suction I plugged the second inlet with the black stopper that came with my pool. Can I get your opinion though. I am from atlantic Canada and dont have a heater on my pool. We purchased a solar pad but the key is to let the water flow thru it slowly so it can heat up before returning to the pool. I plan to use a diverter valve to split the water after my filter, a small amount will divert to the solar pad to heat up and the majority of the water will go back to the pool. After the water goes thru the solar pad I was just going to take a hose and rest it on top of the pool frame. However if my plan is to use only one inlet again this year for the skimmer and leave the other one plugged couldn't I use a hose from the solar pad and have it enter the pool via the second (unused) inlet? Is there a reason why these pools have two inlets, anything to do with maintaining pressure? Last year I found the skimmer worked much better with the second inlet plugged and I didn't notice any other issues. Thoughts? thanks

@@LifeLessOrdinary Great thanks. So you upgraded to a Hayward skimmer. Our pool is still new so I dont have the guts to cut a hole in it just yet lol, maybe in the future. Do you often turn the ball valve off so the water only goes to your skimmer.

Yes I’ve found for my system, it works best to only use the skimmer. But when I vacuum I close the skimmer and use the original intel with one port covered for a strong suction.

As long as your hose is in good shape it would have to be the pump causing you problems. What type of pump/filter set up are you using?

My same intex pool and pump does not have the same suction power so the skimmer does not seem to work well. I'd live a video on how to make sure my pump is pulling enough water through.

Unfortunately every pump is different, take the top of the pump off to see if you have any debris blocking anything 👍

Hi, the skimmer don't do what it has to do here with us.... Do I need just one drain, the one adjust on the skimmer? Or also use the one that adjust already on the pump? Because that doesn't work well. It has no suction...no power
