I have always preferred manual transmissions and always thought I lost too much control in an auto. Rocket, you make a winning argument, and what can I say? I think you are right. If I could trade my 6MT for one of your autos right now I would. Trying to pick my way down a rough grade in 1st Lo last weekend, and having to release the clutch because I needed to go so slowly the engine would stall, I was thinking of your wise words brought to me through KZfaq across the oceans and continents... and again when I stalled and had to re-start climbing some rocks. It took a lot to change my mind on this one, but you've done it. Rocket, you are a legend! And now I have to eat a lot of crow...

This is by far the best 4x4 show on the net ! 4x4 fun ,beers , camping in lovely spots, cooking,fishing and to top it off a really nice build project . Not to shabby coming from decedents of criminals, banished to what has become paradise ,once though of as a bad place to have to be living. THE BRITTS MUST BE KICKING THEM-SELF'S IN THE HEAD LIVING IN CONSTANT RAIN WHILE YOUR ALL SOAKING UP THE SUN ON NICE SANDY BEACHES. THE IRONY OF IT ALL IS PRICELESS.

I was a manual for life kind of guy, now that I'm stepping away from performance cars and getting into off-road driving, I really wish I had gone auto behind my 7.4l instead of the SM465 I chose when replacing my existing trans in my Jeep!

I just found your channel this week and have probably already watched about 24hrs of awesome 4 wheeling and camp cooking videos. You guys really look like you know how to have some fun. I wish we had places here in Texas to do even half the adventures you all go on. Please, Keep the videos coming. Can you make a video on how you set your vehicles up for deep water? There are a lot of videos out there on doing the water crossing but nothing really about setting up your rig to make it through without damaging engines, electronics, etc. Thank you.

Super smart build! I love the challenge of wheeling a manual, but now that I have an auto, I can enjoy the journey more. Especially with Hill Descent Control I can let the vehicle manage the brakes while I control the speed using the accelerator. It's a dream on long descents in the mountains.

Love these guys, some Quick Numbers here. The average wage in australia for people working in resteraunts is 60,000$ a year (Aus) and an IT guy makes 90k +, wow. That shift controller is 800$ USD for the box and 700$ for the loom, yikes!!! but with their strong currency and job incomes, no wonder Rocket has done 350 conversions on new Landcruisers which cost 80,000$ + (basic interior) crazy crazy australia! (must visit soon!)

Rocket cleared up the reason why my brother never seemed to break anything else but the petrol engine in the drive train of his gu patrol crew cab conversion and I think that the engine only failed from over revving while chock full of mud in the engine bay replaced it with a better extracted version and it was just a beast went places people who drove manuals couldn't go

I have a manual and what I miss is taking off at the traffic lights and the turbo just staying on boost to 80km h. I have to run through the gears and let the turbo spull every gear shift. I can't believe I am saying this but if I get a new 4x4 I'd seriously consider auto nowadays.

Stevo F I’ve got a y62 patrol and I came from a 79series and I promise you this patrol is better in every way, much more expensive but I spent $7500 on a lift kit, winch and bull bar and that was all it needed
