A restaurant that just opened under new management is already at the top of the Dirty Dining list.

Here's more. My late father read meters for a Toronto utility years ago. This was "back in the days" when meters were inside. He always had restaurant horror stories, especially Chinese restaurants. Mice, rats, "creepy crawlies, lice, etc. I know a Chinese gentleman who told me, "Hell, I'm Chinese and I'll never eat at a Chinese restaurant. They're dumps."

I drove taxi on weekends in Toronto years ago while attending college. Received a radio call to pick up a food order at a Chinese eatery on Danforth Avenue. As I waited by the side kitchen door for the order I saw 2 Chinese workers use a pail right beside a crate of vegetables as a urinal. Lots of "splashing." When done, they simply "gave it a shake," zipped up and returned to cooking. I left without the order and contacted my dispatcher who called the customer. She was grateful. I called the City Health Department Monday morning.

Doesn't only apply to Chinese eateries. My wife and I went to a restaurant on the eat side of Yonge Street just below Steeles in Toronto. Washrooms were downstairs. As I walked along the hall to the "men's room" I passed an open door. Inside were crates of vegetable with all sorts of "critters' crawling over them. needless to say, we left before ordering. You never know.

That's the attitude people who don't know or don't care enough about the "weight" a fly being near food has. The blunt truth is flies land on manure very often, and then they land on food. A lot of people in restaurants act like that's not a problem. Either they don't care or they're extremely naive.

Good thing that people know the difference between Chinese and Asian. It's not Japanese, Taiwanese, Singaporean or Pinoy restaurants who keep doing this over and over! Unfortunately, same thing happens at many Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi places, got sick 5 out of 7 times, and got e-coli or salmonella at the last one. NEVER AGAIN!
