Scientists have linked ingredients in processed meat to cancer, and meat companies and lobbyists are paying millions to silence them. In 2015, the WHO listed one of the additives in processed meats as carcinogenic. That same additive was nearly banned in America in the 1970s - until lobbying from the meat industry discredited the scientists. We reveal how, to impede or halt regulations on certain additives, lobbyists have been working in the shadows for decades.
At the heart of this strategy are the scientists who collaborate, who receive generous compensation for studies that promote meat consumption. In conjunction with this, those whose work finds health risks associated with meat are ‘shot down’.
From Brittany to Denmark, through California and Wisconsin, director Sandrine Rigaud conducted a year-long investigation on the tactics of the meat industry.

Nitrates are found in (cheaper) vegetables too (fertilizer) and even in cosmetic products. It wouldn't surprise me if most if not all cancers are caused by the products we eat and use.

It is definitely coming from somewhere & food would be the most obvious. I've read we all have the cancer cells in our bodies, not sure if that's a fact or not. All these chemicals in our foods. Best to try and avoid processed foods if possible.

Nitrates and nitrites are two different types of compound. Nitrates (NO3) consist of one nitrogen atom and three oxygen atoms. Nitrites (NO2) consist of one nitrogen atom and two oxygen atoms. Nitrates are relatively inert, which means they're stable and unlikely to change and cause harm.

Agreed 👍 💯 percent with information presented..When I took my organic chemistry courses in university in the mid-80's..I was told nitrite was being used to keep the meats looking reddish and/or pinkish as if it was freshly cut ..If you see how our blood changes color as it was withdrawal from our bodies..It should be the same with other's animal meats..However, if you ever exam how reddish the steak looks like..It was nitrite added, and nitrite is carcinogenic agents promoting cancerous growth...In additions, vegetables as bell peppers, cucumbers and apples 🍎 were also coated with some kinds of chemicals to keep them fresh & looking shinny for long periods of time's..Therefore, nowadays there are so much cancer without definite sources of origin..Little peoples know they are feeding themselves daily thru these products..Futhermore, the medication 💊 and/or 💉 that peoples are taking also another types of carcinogenic agents ..In short, basically, everything that you & I ingested daily are carcinogenic that definitely harmful to health if enough amounts were accumulated for long periods of time's.. .

Funny he is wearing a spacesuit while handling what's going into the food....I used eat lunchmeat almost everyday and a couple years ago I cut it completely from my diet after reading about it. Sodium nitrite and nitrate does not process well in your intestine along with meat in general being harder for the human system to process to begin with.

Fundamentally - the human body is not designed for meat consumption. The colon is too long - and rotting meat just sits in the colon for days. Herbivores obtain their protein from plant sources - and thus herbivores have a life expectancy much higher than carnivores - and they are 'Stronger' Neither do humans have teeth designed to 'tear' meat -- compared to the teeth of carnivores. The Meat industry has been lying to people for decades Neither is Milk important for any adult - Milk does more damage than good. This was proved decades ago. Alcohol is best avoided - particularly spirits. Alcohol destroys the Liver and kidneys very quick. People just want to kill themself and shorten their life span in return for the immediate pleasure -- It is not exactly a value trade-off. Many of these additives in meat are also used as preservatives in wines,

Not even to mention the lysteria bacteria growing on cold cuts. That's what makes the slimy film that slowly starts to form after a few days in your fridge. There is a reason pregnant women are not allowed to eat cold cuts. I have never eaten cold cut ham because it looks slimy and gross, same with cold cut turkey. Confuses my partner since I love a good roast ham or roast turkey during the holidays but refuse those store cold cut lunch meats he buys.

ive been a vegetarian and now vegan for health reasons & for animals lives, like so many. Tbh, I've never felt healthier! my sleep, skin, weight & stamina are better now and our karate club have a few members as vegans too!! i have great substitutes for lots of stuff, but i wasn't that keen on a lot of meat before. Its been a revelation!!!

You don’t have to be vegan. Purchase your meats from the local farm and your seafood from your local fisherman. We are not vegan animals. Eventually you will get sick from nutrient deficiency. The first 10 years are great until you start to get problems from all of the anti nutrient that exist in fruit and vegetables.

It's not just meat! Additives added to processed foods everywhere to keep products last longer and stay fresh, from loaf of breads to all vegetables in tins, frozen vegetables, drinks in bottles, sweets and savour, and basically everything in supermarket shelves!!! None of the epidemiological studies can evaluate processed meat on its own since it's almost always paired with breads. The standard grain-based diet, sprayed with toxic herbicides and pesticides should be far more concern

Ahh - he meat industry. They may not be top dogs when it comes to lobbying spending, but they've certainly made their mark with a cool $8.6 million spent in 2020. Compared to the pharma industry's whopping $306 million, it's almost like chump change. But hey, at least they're trying, right? When it comes to public health and sustainability, the meat industry's lobbying efforts have been about as effective as a vegetarian at a barbecue. They've fought against country-of-origin labeling for meat and poultry, because who needs transparency anyway? And despite all the evidence linking meat to health risks, they've convinced people that it's a vital part of a healthy diet. Just like smoking is a vital part of a healthy pair of lungs. As for the environment, the meat industry's motto seems to be "if you're not polluting, you're not trying hard enough." They've put up a real fight against regulations aimed at reducing the environmental impact of animal agriculture. Because who cares about the planet when there are burgers to be grilled? It's time to take a closer look at the meat industry's lobbying efforts and hold them accountable for their impact on our health and our planet. Ham is cured pork. Simple. Buy a raw uncooked pork shoulder or leg and salt cure it yourself. Done. But it will still be pink. Whether we salt cure and hang it or smoke cure it, ham is the color of ham.

Lot of what you are eating has bad pesticides on it unless it is organic or home grown. Maybe there is a farmer you can trust like a amish one. A few months ago the government was after one because he old raw milk and fruits and vegetables grown without pesticides. they were going to fine the farmer 100s of thousands of dollars. His lawyer won. Good news for the little man.

If u want fresh meat ,pink or red ,u need to get it right when the cow is slaughter,not that shit u see in ur grocerie store ,,we received trailer loads of meat,it would stay there for at least 2 months when rotation had to be done ,,then it goes to the supermarket,stays in freezer for few weeks or they run out and have to restock,,Burris is a refrigerated warehouse storage company were they stored food for Disney cruise line and BJ's and edys ice cream,,put it this way don't eat meat especially from grocery store,better off goin to fresh farm...
