NASCAR owner Richard Childress joined the Dale Jr. Download to tell some wild Dale Earnhardt tales on how the two stuck together through tough times and how the Days of Thunder movie played out in real life.

Dale Sr. saying "we started it together, we'll end it together" with the temptation of better equipment; race teams, is a level of integrity that I don't think we'll see anytime soon from the current generations of racers. That's a dying breed.

I have so much respect for Richard Childress. He loved driving, but the was willing to step out of his own car and put Earnhardt in because he knew Dale was a far better driver. Then he was willing to let Dale go because the team wasn't doing well, but Dale refused. Richard was SO deserving of the Hall of Fame induction!

Yeah the list of fans of Sr seems to continue to grow which was shown by the show of support the black #3 got at the all star race and Jr got a lot of support and some more fans with not only his Cup car throw back paint scheme from his late model racing days especially with him bringing out his current race team's (which he owns) late model car which also had the throwback paint scheme 😊😅😮😂❤

Jr. has grown into such a kick ass interviewer in these last several years. Nothing compares to his relatability and his delivery. You can feel how much he cares about the sport, the history, and the direction of NASCAR's future. He is so refreshingly genuine. JR FOR PRESIDENT!

"I don't care about Geoff Bodine's little opinion. If my car is right, I'm out front and gone. If it's not, I do what I have to to get out front."--Dale Earnhardt, 1987. My favorite quote from Dale 😂 Every time I hear the name Geoff Bodine, it's all I think about.

Childress is an awesome dude. I talked to him at a party for Sterlin Marlin at a bar/restaurant in the Poconos (the name of which is gone from my brain due to the passage of time), and I while talking to him I said - *sigh* - "I remember you running the Truxmore #90 car when I was a kid." He politely replied "That was Dick Brooks." I immediately realized my mistake, and said something like "oh man, I'm so sorry, you're right," and he just brushed it off with a "oh, it's no problem." We laughed about it, talked for a couple more minutes, and then both went our separate ways. It was a very cool interaction.

@jasonrobbins71435 жыл бұрын
@Ethan Weeter If u watch some of the other Jr. Podcasts where he had Terry Labonte on show... Terry said he would always go on hunting trips with Sr. but after that wreck at Bristol it took some time to get over... But they are racers & its what they do... Even Sr's worst enemy had respect for him. To wreck or move people out of line as much as Sr. did & to be respected as he is today or even at the end of his career speaks to his skill as a driver & what the type of man he was off the track... I would bet if he drove like that yet was a dick off the Track the racers would've hated him... yet any story you hear about Sr. especially when it comes to off the track stuff he really was a class act. Hes the type of man we are desperately missing in todays society.

Things got heated between those two guys in the mid '80s. It might have started in 1986 at Daytona. Bodine won, Dale Sr. ran out of gas. Riverside in 1987, Earnhardt ran over Bodine trying to get around him. He might have pushed Bodine at Charlotte in The Winston before Bill Elliott turned Bodine around, I don't know. Things got real nasty in 1988 at Charlotte. Earnhardt spun out Bodine in the Busch race and wrecked him. Then there was the Cup race, Bodine gave Earnhardt a tap out of turn 2. Going into 3 Earnhardt didn't turn the car, he spun Bodine and put him in the fence. What's worse is more cars got involved. So Sr. got parked for 5 laps. Bodine, Earnhardt, Hendrick, and Childress all got called to Daytona. That's where the meeting came from.

Sorry but how in the fooOOOK does this only have 300k views?? These people are legends... I don't even watch Nascar anymore. Last race I watched was Talladega Nights BUT Stories that shape what it is to be an American are these stories and they die when they aren't told. Dale Sr was no smaller then Michael Jordan, Tiger Woods, Muhammad Ali, Babe Ruth, The Serena sisters, and that guy from that team that won alot but we all know who they are and all about their life story. Especially in today's climate where people don't highlight the real influencers of proud Americans just the ones influencing the weak haters of this great country.. is an insight that is so priceless. Thanks 😊 🙏 my family were not fans of yours but I was. They liked rusty lol Loved your dads toughness and the all or nothing approach matched with undeniable talent. #3

I would love to hear Richard's side of the story, when, at Richmond, he tells Dale not to pit because Richard doesn't want to lose the track position.
