I think the retirement crisis will get even worse. A lot of people can’t save because of low paying jobs, inflation, and insane rental rates. And now that home ownership is out of reach for middle class Americans, they won’t have a house to retire with either.

Rising prices have affected my intention of retiring at 62, working part-time, and building my savings. I'm worried about whether individuals who weathered the 2008 financial crisis found it less challenging than my current situation. The stock market's volatility, coupled with a reduced income, is making me anxious about having enough for retirement.

Currently, the best market strategy is to work with a credible investing coach. Since a while ago, I've been in touch with a coach, mostly because I lack the depth of understanding and mental toughness to deal with the ongoing market conditions. You lack the information necessary to succeed in a competitive market, not because you're doing anything wrong, but rather because of your lack of experience.

Definitely! All of this happened in less than a year after *Camille Alicia Garcia* told me what to do. I started with less than $300,000, and now I'm about 87,000 short of having a million dollars.

When we were smaller, either stay at home or go to school, we need to keep rules to survive. Then we grow old enough to get a job, we have to keep all the rules of the company to make a living. Now I am retired, too tired to learn and keep rules no more. Thanks, but NO thanks. May I have some freedom from being told what I can and cannot do in the last part of my life? That's FREEDOM OF CHOICE! Oh, I am 84 and still counting.

I was warned by realtors in two states to avoid HOAs like the plague. I'm very boring, but I like my privacy. I like having two to five acres. I want nobody close enough to mind each other's business, but close enough to help each other if needed.

One issue is, for me, often my peers have become "Karen's" and "Kenny's". I prefer to live my life without someone else looking over my shoulder and complaining that I left the trash cans out two hours after trash collection, or I left my car parked out on the driveway overnight. Frankly if I want to keep goats, pigs and chickens in my backyard, and there are no restrictions against them then as long as they stay on my property and are not a nuisance or health issue then that is my choice. Just like if you want to zip around in your golf cart and drink starting after breakfast, then that is yours.

I have a "Karen" across the street. She has terrorized us for years. Watches everybody, complains about anything under the sun. threatens my animals with BB guns. She can do whatever she likes but you can't. She works the neighbors to death and then turns around and talks about them behind their backs. Tells lies on people, gossips, tattles, stirs up trouble. We're all sick of her and she's not allowed in our home or on our property period

I agree with you. The 55+ communities are restrictive and homogenous and boring. Vibrant and unpredictable is much better. Prior to moving to Florida I was looking for homes and all I saw in these communities was the same house on every street and all the things that we like to do in the yard or things we were paying an HOA fee for. No thanks we’re out in the woods and one much happier.

The Villages and senior communities are not for everyone. If you have modest social skills and don't like golf or playing a lot of sports it may not be for you. Imagine high school when there were cliques and people on the outside of the cliques, well, the Villages and retirement communities are the same thing except you are at the latter stages of life. People forget that they may not be the best socializers and then move to the retirement communities and are depressed. The biggest thing is you are trading a lot of space at home for a lot less space at the Villages or retirement communities and all of this, in many cases, for a greater cost.

I had my own experiences with very strict rules without joining an HOA and in some ways it was a blessing in a sense that it made me know better than than joining an HOA. Maybe I am beginning to find everything in life including the negative things of life have a purpose including unpleasant people. I treat this life as a learning experience, to learn what is good and what is bad in life. This is a hard saying, maybe a very hard saying. If you make a mistake which many of us do, in fact all of us, we learn to be more careful the next time. When it came time that I was going to buy a house 12 years ago, I was very or even extremely careful that it was not part of an HOA. So far, I’ve been very happy with the place I am living right now and it is not a fancy house.

We moved into a 55 + community 10 yrs ago and it was the best decision we ever made. We’re both in our mid 70s, knew some people here and have made a lot of good friends. The homes are pretty good size and the HOA is strict, but that’s a good thing. The community always looks great and the homes have increased in value by quite a bit.

I had a VERY HARD time getting use to a HOA Board and all the rules. I had read the rules and regs, attended an annual meeting before I bought and still I got letters about issues that wear not on that list. This was personalities and expectations of people in th4 community. I've been in my condo for 4 1/2 years now. and just now getting used to the HOA. A HOA is not everyone's cup of tea.

Exactly the point--a MODERATE number of SENSIBLE restrictions prevents the night-mareish trashed look that a renter in my non-restricted subdivision recently created. But the key, as this video notes, is in the modifiers. You will have to decide what is excessive for you and what is ridiculously unnecessary.

An HOA can be great and not so great - highly dependent on the people on the board - I've had both experiences. The only time I'm glad there is an HOA is when someone wants to paint their house bright purple with yellow shutters - great in the right neighborhood and right house, but typically not great in a regular suburban neighborhood.

Yes there are some! We live in the community of Terramor here in Corona and we don't have a golf course. The community is based more on newer style homes with open floor plans, with nice amenities and a beautiful clubhouse. We also have a community in Ontario Ca called Esperanza that does not have a golf course. And there is Altis in Beaumont that is very similar too! I hope this helps!

They are a scam, rules, rules and more rules. Monthly maintenance fees that are raised every year and the homes are overpriced for what you get. Unless the house is stucco with zip system sheathing and tape and the exterior walls and roof deck inside is foam sprayed for energy weatherization. The ZIP System® sheathing and tape streamlines the weatherization process with an integrated air and water-resistive barrier that delivers moisture and air protection in one easy-to-install system. Otherwise forget it! And, we checked out Del Webb in Texas the builder Pulte Homes sucked, big time, over priced, under insulated, and sub-standard materials. JMHO
