Hi Jeff... Today I picked up my Classic Benchtop DP I won at auction... I was a little concerned with what I recall you mentioning about the almost 200 pound unit weight... This morning I watched this video showing the disassembly for transport, and the specific tools needed... I gathered up everything I needed per your suggestion... And added an extra item... A small aerosol can of WD-40.. The first thing I did was to shoot some lube on the lock screws at the base and the table, the motor mount shaft lock bolts and around the post in the head... After a few minutes, all the fasteners backed out easily without stripping or breaking any of the screws. I removed the three quill handles, but left the quill assembly in place. Separated the motor from the mounting plate and removed the motor mounting plate from the head. The post stayed on the base, but I was able to remove the table from the post without any issues... This allowed me to move the individual parts to the car without trying to move a 200 pound assembled unit... I put all of the loose pieces in 3 one gallon zip bags with sharpie marker identification, noting where the parts go... Anyway... your video made it so easy to knock the DP down without damaging anything... These videos are extremely helpful... Thank you for all the hard work you are doing towards providing the information that's allowing us to preserve these fine machines....

Jeff, fighting with my Craftsman 150, is there any possibility of calling you directly?? Chuck won’t come off shaft and chuck doesn’t open and close correctly. It’s really tight and grainy inside. Would like your input

Astrid, please go to this thread on the Garage Journal Forum and post some pics with your questions. I or one of the other members will respond to you fairly quickly. Based on your issue we need to see pics of the chuck and the safety lock collar tat sits just above he chuck. Fear not, we can get that chuck off that spindle.
